Abstract

People with mental disorders have difficulty finding work, even though they have gone through rehabilitation. Providing vocational training is an effort to help them gain skills to be independent. The evaluation process is very important to carry out in order to see the challenges and successes of the training. The aim of this research is to evaluate vocational training, especially stamp batik skills, through reactions and learning with participants with mental disorders. The research method uses qualitative with a case study approach in batik training with stamping techniques for people with mental disorders at the Jiwa Layang Foundation in the category of residual schizophrenia. The results of the training showed that in the evaluation of the participants' reactions in following the entire training were in the very good category, even though the participants were less focused in paying attention. Meanwhile, at the learning evaluation stage, participants got results in the good category. However, participants were less skilled in making stamping tools. The use of the learning by doing method is a success factor, such as the teaching method used, the work process is carried out in groups and mentoring by instructors. Instructors and assistants must be able to maintain participants' enthusiasm which tends to decrease due to fatigue due to long periods of time. Participants still have to work in groups because making batik requires working in groups

Abstract

In particular, the quality of learning is determined by a teacher’s abilities. Professional teachers undoubtedly canprovide learning creatively. They must be able to see the situation within the limitations of teaching media needs byutilizing existing resources. Training teachers is essential to improve teachers’ abilities in providing creativelessons to students, especially in creativity-based learning. The Community Empowerment aims to train high schoolteachers in mix-and-match exploration of stamped and tie-dyed batik in arts and culture subjects. The entire seriesof P2M activities are carried out using a Learning-by-doing approach, a demonstration method, and video tutorials.The training takes place in the Betawi pavilion of SMAN 109 South Jakarta. The training results showed thatparticipants were able to complete the entire training series well, even though there were several obstacles. Fromthe results of the work analysis, on average, the participants produced work of excellent quality, so teachers areexpected to be able to teach batik skills to students in their respective schools in arts and culture subjects.

Abstract

The craft sector has great potential in Indonesia. According to data from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf), the craft sector contributed IDR 166.13 trillion to the national GDP in 2020. Based on the craft potential data, artists are interested in introducing diverse and unique Malay decorative motifs through tie-dye curtains to the wider community. This Creation Research uses a descriptive qualitative research type and a practice-based research method with a formalistic approach to analyze the aesthetic value of the visual elements of Malay tie-dye curtain works. This tie-dye curtain work is made on linen fabric using the tritik tie-dye technique. The dye used in the process of making the work is synthetic indigosol dye with a brush-dyeing technique. During the process of making this final project curtain, the Malay natural decorative motif was successfully applied well to the tie-dye curtain and was able to present the Malay natural atmosphere well.
