Abstract

This paper studies the componential meaning of word “bertengkar” indicating the meaning “quarrel” in Jambi Malay Language. It aims to identify meaning relation of each word relate to quarrel in Jambi Malay. It is a descriptive qualitative research using interview technique in collecting the data. The result shows that there are 5 (five) type of verbs indicating the meaning “to quarrel” in Jambi Malay Language, namely 1. Betinju (to quarrel by hand, man-man) ; 2. Belago (to quarrel by hand and foot, man-man, animal-animal); 3. Begoco (to quarrel by hand and foot, young man- young man ); 4. Becekak (to quarrel by speech/ mouth, man - man) ; 5. Bekelai (to quarrel by hand and foot, man-man).

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the use of code mixing by the students at Ma`had Al-Jamiah. This case study was used by interviewing nine female students in Ma’had Al-Jami’ah of the State Islamic Islamic University of STS Jambi. Beside interview, observation was conducted , in three room. The data were analyzed by using thematic analysis. The findings indicated that the kind of code switching used by the female students are in the form of noun and adjective. Several reasons for using code mixing are Environmental factor, the regulation in Ma`had and lack of vocabularies.

Abstract

Kinds and cause of dissociative identity disorder experienced by Malcolm as the main character in a movie entitled Identity. The purpose of writing this research is to analyze and find out what kinds of dissociative identity disorder and what are the causes of dissociative identity disorders. This research uses psychologycal approach by Wellek and Warren, Paulette M. Gillig about dissociative identity disorder, and the theory of kinds of dissociative identity disorder by Nevid, theory of the cause of dissociative identity disorder by Thomas Oldmans. The method used in analyzing the problem in this thesis is a qualitative descriptive method. The results of this study are that Malcolm experienced dissociative identity disorder, he has ten other personalities in him and there are four kinds of dissociative identity disorder that Malcolm had, they are: the main personality, the dominant personality, the dissociative identity which there is no connection between the personality and the dissociative identity which there is connection between the personality. The cause of DID experienced by Malcolm is Psychological factor where he remembered what happened when in the past and he could not forget it that was why he want to be independent.
