Abstract

This research aimed to study the effect of garlic extract on the growth of stem cuttings of several types of bougainvillea and used a factorial randomized block design (RAK) with two factors. First factor is garlic extract in 2 levels, (with or without garlic extract). Second factor 2 is the type of bougainvillea consisting of 5 varieties such as yellow flowers, dark purple flowers, white flowers, red flowers and orange flowers. The results showed that the interaction between onion extract and bougainvillea had no significant effect on all observed variables (sprouting time, number of shoots, shoot length, number of roots, root length, percentage of cuttings sprouted and percentage of rooted cuttings). Garlic extract had no significant effect on all observed variables. There was a tendency for cuttings given garlic extract to show a faster age of budding, more shoots, longer roots and more roots. The type of bougainvillea gave a very significant effect on all observed variables except the number of shoots. Red flowers show the earliest age to start sprouting (16.80 days), the longest shoots (26.03 cm) and the longest roots (9.43 cm). Orange flowers performed the highest number of shoots (4.79), the highest percentage of shoots (96.67%) and the highest percentage of roots (96.67). Yellow flowers showed the latest sprouting time (37.08 days), the shortest shoot length (2.51 cm), the shortest root length (1.56 cm), and the least number of roots (1.06). Dark purple flowers showed the lowest percentage of budding and root percentage (63.33%).

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of growth regulators addition on the growth of cuttings from several types of croton plants. This study was designed using a factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD) consisting of 2 factors. The first factor is the type of puring which consists of golok kuning croton (P1), emping croton (P2), raja croton (P3), jet croton (P4), emping croton (P5), cokwe croton (P6). The second factor is without growth regulators (Zo), Rootone-F (Z1) and coconut water (Z2). The results showed that the interaction between PGR and the type of croton gave an insignificant effect on the growth of croton cuttings on all observed variables. Croton type showed a significant effect on all variables observed in cuttings growth except for the percentage of cuttings sprouting. The best cutting growth was shown by golok kuning croton.

Abstract

Arfak Mountains Regency is part of West Papua Province with an undulating to mountainous topography that spreads at an altitude of 800 – 3,000 m above sea level with the main livelihood of its community is farming highland vegetables. This region has a very suitable and potential climate for the development of Arabica coffee. Arfak Mountains Regency also has 2 lakes at an altitude of 2000 m above sea level, so the existence of coffee plantations can support the development of ecotourism in this area. The development of community coffee plantations is not as good as cocoa plantations. This is presumably due to the difficulty of the transportation of marketing results in the past. However, in line with the current infrastructure development, regional development progress, and the growth in the coffee economic value, the development of coffee plantations based on community plantations require significant attention. To be more focused on the development of arabica coffee in the Arfak Mountain Regency, it is necessary to be attentive to internal and external factors as the basis of policy making. This study aims to analyze internal factors (IFE) and external factors (EFE) in coffee farming communities in Anggi Gida District and Anggi Giji District. The results of the IFE and EFE analysis show that farmers in Anggi Giji District have more opportunities (quadrant I: 2.79;2.79) to develop coffee than farmers in Anggi Gida District (quadrant I: 2.61; 2.25). Based on the SWOT analysis both in Anggi Gida District and in Anggi Giji District, the development of Arabica coffee community plantations must implement a strategy to optimize land (S1, S2, O2, O3, O4), improve technical skills (W3, O1, O2, O4), optimize farmer group institutions (S3, S4, T1, T2, T3, T4), and open a marketing network (W2, T3, T4).

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the carrying capacity of agricultural land in providing food to meet the needs of the population in Susweni Village, East Manokwari District. This study used the method of determining or comparing the carrying capacity of land by comparing the availability and needs of land. The results of the calculation of carrying capacity using the concept of calculation according to the regulation of the Minister of the Environment No. 17 of 2009 showed that the Susweni Village, East Manokwari District had a land carrying capacity status that was in deficit for the population living in Susweni Village, East Manokwari District. The availability of land of 78.47 ha and the need for land is 302,084 ha. Therefore, the need for land in the Susweni village is greater than the availability of land in the Susweni village. The deficit carrying capacity of the land in Susweni Village, East Manokwari District is strongly influenced by the population which continues to increase every year.

Abstract

Kandungan nitrogen dan kalium dalam selada umumnya rendah, yaitu kurang dari dua persen, sehingga masih memerlukan penambahan sumber lain untuk memenuhi kebutuhan tanaman. Kalium nitrat membentuk ion K+ dan NO3- setelah dilarutkan dalam air sehingga mudah tersedia bagi tanaman. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penambahan kalium nitrat pada media tumbuh terhadap peningkatan pertumbuhan tanaman selada dan mengetahui tingkat kekritisan terhadap konsentrasi atau larutan hara listrik dengan penambahan kalium nitrat pada tanaman selada. Penelitian yang dilakukan berupa percobaan pot menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) dengan tiga ulangan. Perlakuan terdiri dari 12 tingkat konsentrasi atau EC larutan nutrisi dengan penambahan kalium nitrat. Hasil percobaan menunjukkan bahwa penambahan KNO3 berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap peningkatan bobot segar dan berat kering pucuk per tanaman. Berat segar dan kering pucuk per tanaman meningkat secara nyata secara kuadratik dengan meningkatnya konsentrasi KNO3. Konsentrasi KNO3 yang optimum untuk pertumbuhan berat pucuk tanaman adalah 12,23 g dalam 100 L air atau konduktivitas listrik setara dengan 2,01 dS.m-1. Konsentrasi P dan K dalam jaringan pucuk tanaman meningkat nyata secara linier dengan pemberian KNO3. Konsentrasi N, Ca, Mg, S, Na Fe, Mn, Cu, Zn, Al dan B pada jaringan pucuk tanaman tidak terpengaruh KNO3.
