Abstract

Multiculturalism is an ideology that emphasizes equality in cultural differences. Multicultural education recognizes the ethnic and cultural diversity of a nation's people.The research method used is descriptive research with library research. Education that is oriented towards humanity, togetherness and peace to develop the principles of democracy, equality and justice in social life, especially in heterogeneous societies, requires a universal life orientation. Among universal life orientations are humanity, togetherness, and peace. This universal life orientation is an orientation point for multicultural education. Multicultural education is education that provides recognition, appreciation and respect for differences in equality in terms of language, race, ethnicity, culture and religion.

Abstract

The curriculum as part of an important factor in education has a strategic position in coloring and determining the quality of the education output. The quality of education is really determined by the existence of the curriculum. In the implementation, this study used a type of qualitative research. Qualitative research demands regularity, order and accuracy in thinking, about one Datta relationship with other data and the context in which the problem will be disclosed. The results of this research show that curriculum changes are required at all times because the curriculum will always respond to developments in life, both science and technology developments, social and cultural developments, and political developments. In addition, in its development the curriculum should pay attention to the elements of learners, the unit of education, the community, and the role of curriculum developers especially teachers.
