Abstract

Dasar penelitian ini adalah observasi yang dilakukan oleh UPTD SMP Negeri 1 Moro'o yang menemukan permasalahan dalam  pembelajaran, penggunaan model pembelajaran yang kurang beragam sehingga hasil belajar siswa rendah. Tujuan penelitian ini: (1) Mendeskripsikan proses pembelajaran IPA siswa kelas VIII dengan menerapkan model Cooperative Learning Tipe Think Pairs Share. (2) Mendeskripsikan hasil belajar IPA siswa kelas VIII yang menerapkan model Cooperative Learning Tipe Think Pairs Share. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian tindakan kelas (CSR). Penelitian ini dilakukan di UPTD SMP Negeri 1 Moro'o. Topik penelitiannya adalah kelas VIII-C semester ganjil tahun pelajaran 2023/2024, jumlah siswa 27 orang. Alat penelitian yang digunakan: (1) Tempat observasi, (2) Wawancara, (3) Uji hasil kompetensi. Hasil penelitian  diperoleh: Hasil belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran alam sangat baik. Dengan demikian hasil angket siswa pada siklus 1 sebesar 48,51  masih buruk, sedangkan tingkat ketuntasan sebesar 37,03%, pada siklus II meningkat dengan nilai rata-rata sebesar 80,74 dan nilai memuaskan sebesar 81,48% pada siklus II.

Abstract

Spinach is one of the most important needs for humans, but spinach production in Indonesia has decreased from year to year, so it needs improvement in terms of cultivation technology. The purpose of this study was to analyze the interaction between varieties of spinach and the dose of organic seaweed fertilizer on spinach production; analyzed the dose of organic seaweed fertilizer on spinach production and analyzed the effect of spinach varieties on spinach production. This study was arranged in a factorial randomized block design (RBD), which consisted of two factors, the first factor was the variety of spinach (b) which consisted of two levels, namely green spinach variety Giti Hijau (b1) and red spinach variety Giti Merah (b2), the second factor is the dose of organic fertilizer (d) which consists of 4 levels, namely control (d0), 2 mL/L water (d1), 3 mL/L water (d2), 4 mL/L water (d3). The treatment was divided into 3 blocks as repetition. Data analysis used ANOVA and follow-up test with a DMRT level of 5%. The results showed that the variety of spinach had a significant effect on plant height from 3 to 5 WAP, the number of leaves at 2 WAP and 3 WAP, and the fresh weight of spinach. Fertilizer dosage did not significantly affect plant height, number of leaves, root length, fresh weight, and dry weight of plants . There was no interaction between spinach varieties and doses of organic seaweed fertilizer on all growth parameters and production of spinach.

Abstract

is still limited to household consumption and fresh sales, resulting in low economic value. To increase the added value of coconuts and empower the community, training on Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) production was conducted for 30 PKK members and 9 village officials. This activity was held on June 24, 2025, at the Simaeasi Village office, using lecture methods, direct practice, and technical assistance. The training covered all stages of VCO production, from coconut selection, grating, coconut milk pressing, fermentation, sedimentation, and the oil refining process. The training results showed that participants experienced a significant increase in knowledge and skills. From 5 mature coconuts, approximately 300 mL of VCO was produced with clear characteristics, coconut aroma, and not rancid. Economic simulations showed that the selling value of VCO is much higher than that of fresh coconuts. Thus, this training successfully increased the community's capacity in coconut processing and opened up new business opportunities based on home industries.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of using manure and furrow irrigation systems on soil water availability and the growth of red chili plants (Capsicum annuum L.). Agricultural land in Indonesia faces many challenges, including declining soil quality and water scarcity, which affect crop productivity. Therefore, it is important to explore solutions based on sustainable agriculture, such as the use of organic fertilizers and efficient irrigation techniques. The research was conducted using an experimental approach in agricultural fields with a quantitative method. The results showed that the application of manure and furrow irrigation significantly increased soil moisture and plant growth compared to the control treatment. These findings are consistent with several previous studies conducted by Sitorus and Tyasmoro (2019), Dewi et al. (2020), and Arifin (2021).

Abstract

The use of mulch is one of the effective soil and water conservation techniques to increase soil moisture and water use efficiency on agricultural land. Mulch functions to suppress the rate of water evaporation from the soil surface, maintain temperature stability, improve soil structure, and support microorganism activity. This literature review aims to understand the effect of mulch use on soil moisture and water conservation based on previous research results. The results of the review show that the provision of mulch, both organic and inorganic, can significantly increase soil moisture by reducing evaporation, increasing water infiltration, and maintaining soil temperature stability. However, excessive mulch thickness can interfere with soil aeration and root respiration processes, so it needs to be adjusted to land conditions and plant types. Therefore, the proper use of mulch can be an important strategy in sustainable soil and water management, especially on agricultural land in tropical and dry areas.

Abstract

Hilidundra Village in Lotu District, North Nias Regency, is one of the areas with a high level of flood vulnerability, especially during the rainy season. This condition hampers local agricultural productivity which is highly dependent on the weather. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the raised bed technique in increasing crop yields on land prone to flooding. The study was conducted using qualitative and quantitative approaches through field observations, farmer interviews, and plant growth experiments on two land systems: using raised beds and without raised beds. The results showed that the raised bed technique was able to increase drainage efficiency, reduce plant damage due to flooding, and significantly increase agricultural productivity. This technique is recommended as a relevant and applicable adaptation solution for agricultural land in tropical areas that are prone to flooding.

Abstract

Laboratorium IPA memiliki peran strategis dalam mendukung pembelajaran sains di sekolah karena memungkinkan siswa untuk memahami konsep ilmiah melalui pengalaman praktikum. Namun, efektivitasnya sangat bergantung pada manajemen yang baik, mencakup perencanaan, keselamatan, peningkatan kualitas, dan pelaksanaan kegiatan laboratorium. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis manajemen laboratorium IPA di SMP Negeri 3 Alasa Talumuzoi ditinjau dari empat aspek utama, yaitu perencanaan, keselamatan dan keamanan, peningkatan kualitas, serta pelaksanaan kegiatan praktikum. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi terhadap koordinator laboratorium serta guru IPA, kemudian dianalisis secara deskriptif untuk menggambarkan kondisi aktual pengelolaan laboratorium. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) aspek perencanaan masih kurang karena belum adanya dokumen program kerja tertulis dan sistem administrasi yang terstruktur; (2) aspek keselamatan dan keamanan tergolong rendah akibat minimnya fasilitas keselamatan dan belum adanya SOP tertulis; (3) aspek peningkatan kualitas laboratorium masih terbatas karena sarana dan prasarana belum memadai serta kurangnya pemeliharaan rutin; dan (4) pelaksanaan kegiatan praktikum tergolong cukup, tetapi belum berjalan optimal karena frekuensi praktikum masih rendah. Manajemen laboratorium IPA di SMP Negeri 3 Alasa Talumuzoi belum terlaksana secara optimal. Diperlukan peningkatan dalam aspek perencanaan, penyediaan fasilitas keselamatan, pemeliharaan sarana, serta peningkatan intensitas praktikum agar laboratorium dapat berfungsi maksimal dalam mendukung pembelajaran IPA.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of vegetative ground cover in reducing erosion rates and increasing water infiltration on sloped lands. The method employed was a field experiment with three treatments: bare land without cover, land planted with vetiver grass, and land planted with leguminous cover crops. The results indicate that vegetative ground cover significantly reduced erosion rates by up to 65% and increased water infiltration rates to more than twice that of bare land. Vetiver grass was found to be more effective than legumes in strengthening soil structure and improving soil physical properties. These findings highlight the importance of utilizing vegetative ground cover as a conservation strategy to maintain soil productivity and preserve water resources. The implementation of vegetative cover is highly recommended for sustainable land management, especially in erosion-prone areas.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of planting time (morning, noon, afternoon) on the early growth of corn (Zea mays L.). A descriptive qualitative method was used, involving field observation, interviews with farmers, and documentation. The findings revealed that planting in the morning led to faster and stronger early growth, marked by earlier germination, fresher leaves, and better root and shoot development. Morning conditions—cooler temperatures and higher humidity supported the seed’s imbibition and early metabolism. In contrast, noon planting showed the weakest performance due to heat and low humidity causing early stress. Afternoon planting yielded moderate results but was still less effective than morning planting. Interviews with farmers confirmed that the morning is considered the best planting time for corn. The study concludes that choosing the right planting time, especially in the morning, is a key factor in supporting early plant development and ensuring successful cultivation in the field.

Abstract

Corn (Zea mays L.) is an important food crop whose successful cultivation largely depends on seed germination. Water plays a crucial role in germination by activating seed metabolism through the imbibition process. This study aimed to examine the effect of soaking duration on the speed and quality of corn seed germination. The research employed a completely randomized design with four soaking durations (0, 6, 12, and 24 hours), each replicated three times. Corn seeds were soaked according to the treatment times, then germinated on wet cotton media and observed for seven days. Parameters measured included germination percentage, radicle emergence time, and seedling length. Results showed that soaking duration significantly influenced all observed parameters. Soaking for 12 hours produced the best results with the highest germination percentage, faster radicle emergence, and optimal seedling length compared to other treatments. Short soaking times were insufficient to stimulate imbibition, while excessively long soaking reduced germination percentage due to oxygen deficiency and risk of seed decay. In conclusion, soaking corn seeds for 12 hours is recommended as the optimal duration to improve germination success. These findings can serve as a guideline for farmers to enhance seedling techniques for corn.
