Abstract

Low back pain is a major health problem in the workforce. Teachers are among the professions that are at high risk of suffering from low back pain due to work as social transformation, educational reforms and new teaching models have affected current teaching conditions, leading to changes in the profession in order to that teachers move from a relatively safe status to a state of instability in the workplace, due to new precarious and unregulated working methods. The aim of this study was to determine which risk factors are the causes of the low back pain (low back pain) experienced by the teachers of the SMPN 1 Bathin Solapan. This research uses quantitative methods. The research sample consisted of 28 teachers from SMPN 1 Bathin Solapan. The results of the analysis showed that there was no interaction variable (p <0.05) on the variables of age, sex, exercise routine and duration of sitting. From the results of this study, more research is needed to determine what other factors are associated with the incidence of low back pain in teachers at SMPN 1 Bathin Solapan.

Abstract

Low Back Pain (LBP) Miogenic is pain around the lower back that arises due to disturbances or abnormalities in the musculoskeletal elements without being accompanied by neurological disorders. Low Back Pain (LBP) Miogenic related to excessive daily activities, heavy weight lifting, standing too long or sitting in the wrong position. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of Gym Ball Exercise (GBE) and Neuromuscular Taping (NMT) interventions in reducing pain scale in Myogenic Low Back Pain (LBP) patients. This study uses a Quasi Experimental method with One group pre-test and post-test design. The sample of this study amounted to 18 patients who performed physiotherapy. Data analysis using Wilcoxon Statistical Test. Based on the analysis, it was found that there was a significant change in the patient's pain score before and after physiotherapy (P<0.001) so it was concluded that the administration of Gym Ball Exercise (GBE) and Neuromuscular Taping (NMT) was effective in reducing the pain scale of patients with Low Back Pain (P<0.001). Abstract

Trigger finger, also known as stenosing tenosynovitis, is a common hand disorder. A trigger finger is a limited or locked finger when bent and stretched. Disproportionate thickening and narrowing of the retinacular sheath relative to the flexor tendons occurs due to hypertrophy and metaplasia of fibrocartilage on the surface of the tendon pulleys. The main clinical finding is a temporary locking of the finger when bent, followed by a painful snap when extended. The purpose of this study was to determine the decrease in trigger finger pain after the administration of Ultrasound (US) and Neuromuscular Taping (NMT) interventions. This study uses the case study method. The sample for this study was a 42-year-old woman who was given physiotherapy intervention in the form of a combination of Ultrasound (US) and Neuromuscular Taping (NMT) six times for two weeks. Pain was measured by the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS). The results of the study show that giving Ultrasound (US) and Neuromuscular Taping (NMT) can reduce pain in trigger finger sufferers. Abstract

Plantar fasciitis is the most common diagnosis for heel pain. Plantar fasciitis is degeneration of the plantar fascia due to repeated micro-tears in the fascia that cause an inflammatory reaction and is not a primary inflammatory process as most people believe. The cause of plantar fasciitis is unknown but is believed to be multifactorial, with abnormal biomechanics and delayed healing being the most likely causes. The purpose of this study was to determine the decrease in plantar fasciitis pain after Myofascial Release and Neuromuscular Taping (NMT) interventions. This study uses the case study method. The sample for this study was a 28-year-old man who was given physiotherapy intervention in the form of a combination of Myofascial Release and Neuromuscular Taping (NMT) 12 times for 4 weeks. The functional value of the foot is measured by the Foot Function Index (FFI). The results of the study showed that Myofascial Release and Neuromuscular Taping (NMT) could improve foot function in plantar fasciitis patients.

Abstract

Lateral Sprain Ankle is an injury that occurs due to excessive stretching (overstretching and hypermobility) or trauma to the lateral ligament complex, due to sudden inversion and plantar flexion forces during exercise or physical activity. The aim of this research is to determine the effectiveness of Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage and Neuromuscular Taping (NMT) to reduce pain and swelling. This research uses the Case Study method. The sample for this study was a 16 years old male who was given physiotherapy intervention in the form of a combination of Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage and Neuromuscular Taping (NMT) which was carried out at the ADA Physiotherapy Clinic Pekanbaru with physiotherapy procedures 6 times over 2 weeks. Pain values ​​are measured using the Visual Analog Scale (VAS), while swelling is measured using a measuring tape (meterline). After 6 treatments, it was found that the pain score was reduced from 7 to 3 on the Visual Analog Scale (VAS), swelling circumference from 54.8 cm to 53.2 cm using the Figure of Eight technique. The results of this study show that the application of Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage and Neuromuscular Taping (NMT) can reduce pain and swelling in Lateral Sprain Ankle conditions.

Abstract

Background: Trigger finger is a condition when the finger feels stiff when bent or stretched. This condition occurs because the protective layer surrounding the tendons becomes inflamed in the tendons or tissue connecting bones and muscles, causing a painful sensation when the sufferer bends or straightens the fingers. Trigger finger can also cause the finger to feel painful and stiff so that it cannot be moved. Objective: This research is aimed at sufferers of Trigger Finger conditions to reduce pain. Research Method: Case study with a sample size of 1 person suffering from Trigger Finger. Ultrasound intervention and application of Neuromuscular Taping 3 times a week for 2 weeks. This research was conducted at RSI Ibnu Sina Pekanbaru in January – March 2024. The pain measurement tool used the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS). The research design was pre and post test, namely comparing VAS scores before and after the intervention. Results: after 6 treatments for 2 weeks with 3 treatments a week. In the reduce pain results before = 2.5 (mild pain) and after = 1.75 (mild pain); tenderness before = 7.5 (severe pain) and after 4.5 (moderate pain); movement pain before = 6 (severe pain) and after = 3.5 (mild pain). Conclusion: Ultrasound intervention and Neuromuscular Taping are conservative interventions in Trigger Finger treatment that can reduce pain.

Abstract

Background: Upper Cross Syndrome (UCS) is a postural deformity characterized by muscle imbalance, involving tension in the pectoralis major, upper trapezius, and levator scapulae muscles, along with weakness in the deep neck flexors, middle-lower trapezius, and serratus anterior. This condition is frequently triggered by prolonged use of electronic devices, leading to neuromuscular imbalance and musculoskeletal disorders. Objective: This study aims to determine the effect of Scapular Retraction Exercise and Neuromuscular Taping (NMT) on correcting shoulder posture in a patient with UCS. Methods: The research design is a single case study of a 19-year-old male student diagnosed with UCS. Data collection involved measuring the Forward Shoulder Angle (FSA). The intervention consisted of 12 treatment sessions conducted over 6 weeks. Results: Following 12 sessions of combined scapular retraction exercises and NMT application, the final evaluation showed a significant increase in the FSA angle from 46° (E0) to 54° (E1). This increase indicates a reduction in shoulder protraction, moving the acromion toward a more posterior position. Conclusion: The integration of Scapular Retraction Exercise and Neuromuscular Taping (NMT) is effective in improving posture in Upper Cross Syndrome patients through the synergy of active muscle strengthening and mechanical muscle relaxation.
