Abstract

Evaluation indicates that the institutional framework of the Banjarbakula Regional Landfill (TPA) requires improvement, particularly in terms of structural positions and human resource expertise. This research aims to analyze the remaining operational life of the Banjarbakula Regional Landfill without the implementation of residual waste separation efforts. The study was conducted at the Banjarbakula Regional Landfill, located on Jalan Gunung Kupang, Cempaka District, Banjarbaru City. The analysis of the landfill's remaining life employs a quantitative descriptive method, analyzing data on the volume of waste entering the landfill from 2019 to 2023 and the available land area for waste deposition. This projection of waste accumulation is derived from direct observations, measuring the remaining land capacity for waste, and assessing the landfill's total capacity. Based on this analysis, an evaluation of the landfill's remaining operational life can be performed. Without the implementation of residual waste separation, the Banjarbakula Regional Landfill is projected to reach its full capacity in 3 years and 6 months, specifically by September 2028, indicating a suboptimal performance at the Banjarbakula Regional Landfill.

Abstract

The conservation of protected forest areas is crucial for maintaining biodiversity and ecosystem functionality. To safeguard the sustainability of these forests, it is imperative to reevaluate and redefine their boundaries to enhance management and protection. This study's main objective is to analyze the outcomes of evaluating the protected forest area boundaries in Bajuin District. The analysis utilizes digital data and spatial data techniques, employing the overlay method to generate a new map. The new map is then subjected to the scoring method, yielding a comprehensive map displaying forest area functionalities. The comparison between the protected forest maps from the South Kalimantan RTRWP 2015-2035 and the scoring results revealed a significant difference of 5,485.48 ha in the protected forest area. According to the South Kalimantan RTRWP 2015-2035, the protected forest area covers 4,000.20 ha, whereas the scoring results' map extends the protected area to 9,485.48 ha based on the latest database. It is essential to retain the protected forest area of 1,578.47 ha, which includes regions with a slope of >45%, as it meets the criteria for conservation. To ensure the sustainable preservation of these critical ecosystems, local authorities must take into account the findings of this evaluation. By redefining and accurately delineating the protected forest boundaries, appropriate measures can be implemented to mitigate threats from population growth, encroachment, and resource exploitation. Adequate protection and management strategies will safeguard biodiversity and promote the continued ecological functioning of these vital natural resources in Bajuin District, South Kalimantan Province.

Abstract

Abstract

The change in status of forest areas to Special Purpose Forest Areas (KHDTK) aims to optimize forest resource management to support sustainability and sustainable use. KHDTK Mungku Baru is one example of an area managed by the local government and universities, but it faces various challenges, especially conflicts of interest between stakeholders. This research aims to analyze the role of stakeholders in managing KHDTK Mungku Baru and understand the interests and influence of each party in the management process. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with various parties involved, such as local governments, academics, NGOs, and the surrounding community. The results of the study indicate that stakeholders in the management of KHDTK Mungku Baru can be categorized into four groups based on their level of influence and interests: key players, context setters, subjects, and crowd. Local communities have high interests but low influence in the management of KHDTK, thus requiring a more effective empowerment approach. Meanwhile, local governments and academic institutions, as key players, play a major role in decision-making and policy implementation. To optimize the management of KHDTK Mungku Baru, a collaborative strategy that actively involves all stakeholders is needed.

Abstract

This training aims to increase the knowledge and skills of yasinan women in Kiram Village to make health drinks made from medicinal plants. Activities are carried out using lecture, demonstration and direct practice methods which are designed to provide interactive and applied learning so that participants can understand in depth the process of making health drinks and apply it independently. The evaluation results show an increase in understanding of knowledge and technology by 16.78%, meaning the successful transfer of knowledge and skills by the implementing team. In this training, there are three types of health drinks that are most popular, namely healthy turmeric and sour, healthy kencur rice, and healthy turmeric and sour plus ginger because they are easy to make, have a popular taste, and have high health benefits.  Apart from improving skills, this activity is also expected to open up economic opportunities for yasinan mothers through the production and sale of natural-based health drinks. This training supports the development of community-based small businesses that can increase family income by utilizing local medicinal plants. This training contributes to efforts to create independent villages in the health sector and improve the quality of life of the community as a whole. It is hoped that the continuation of this program will have a wider positive impact, both from the social, economic and health aspects of the Kiram Village community. This program can also be a model for community empowerment that can be replicated in other villages.

Abstract

Stunting continues to be a major public health concern in Indonesia, especially in rural and impoverished areas.  According to the 2024 Indonesian Nutritional Status Survey, the frequency of stunting has dropped to 22.9% in South Kalimantan and 19.8% nationwide. To address this persistent issue, PT Borneo Indo Bara (PT BIB) started the CERIA (Cegah Stunting Raih Impian Anak) Cooking Class as a component of its CSR initiative to promote nutritional enhancement in the community. In this study, the CERIA Cooking Class in Teluk Kepayang District, Tanah Bumbu Regency, South Kalimantan, is implemented and its effects on the community are examined. Targeting five ring-1 areas that encircle the working region of PT BIB, the initiative involves 30 participants per district, including local nutritionists, PKK members, and community health workers. The program emphasizes maternal and child nutrition using locally sourced ingredients, in keeping with the national B2SA (Diverse, Nutritious, Balanced, and Safe) food movement. It includes culinary demonstrations and nutrition education created in partnership with Chef Agus Sasirangan and public health experts. In-depth interviews with local government representatives, program organizers, and community members who participated were used to collect qualitative data.  The initiative successfully encouraged the use of local food resources, increased knowledge of stunting prevention, and developed multi-sectoral collaboration, according to the results. The study emphasizes how community-driven and culturally appropriate CSR programs can support national nutrition goals.
