Abstract

Religion has a belief about God (theology), because basically religion is a divine rule as a provision for its people to arrive at inner and outer happiness, both in this world and in the hereafter. Thus every religion crowns the teachings or science of divinity (theology) in their religion as the main lesson. The purpose of this study is to analyze the differences and similarities of theological concepts in Islam and Christianity. Because it is known that these two major religions are a series of religious histories that are often discussed and debated in theological studies. Then this research is able to provide a true and precise explanation of theology in both religions, namely Islam and Christianity. The methodology used in this research is qualitative with a library research design. The data taken as well as the information that the researcher uses as a source are the Al-Quran and the Bible. Coupled with the literature of opinion leaders who wrote a lot about the explanation of the teachings of the two religions in this study. This research can produce knowledge and understanding of the teachings of God in Islam and Christianity, the knowledge of God is the most basic thing in every religious teaching. It can be concluded that the similarities between the concepts of Islamic and Christian theology are studying God, Sects and the Attributes of God, while the difference between the concepts of Islamic theology and Christian theology is that Islamic theology believes that God is One and practices the value of Unity, while Christian theology believes that God is One, but it is believed that there is another God called Relative Monotheism such as God the Father Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the negotiation process between cultural traditions and religious beliefs in the practice of the Raleng Tendi Dance among the Karo community in Sibiru-biru Village. The Raleng Tendi Dance is a tradition rooted in the Pemena belief system and originally functioned as a ritual to recall the tendi (soul) as part of a healing process. With the spread of formal religions such as Islam and Christianity, this tradition has undergone various adjustments in its implementation. This research employs a qualitative method with a descriptive approach through interviews with traditional leaders and religious leaders, supported by a literature review. The findings reveal that the Karo community has not entirely abandoned the Raleng Tendi Dance; instead, they have adapted and reinterpreted its ritual meanings. The tradition is maintained as a cultural identity while being adjusted to contemporary religious values. Based on Peter L. Berger’s Social Construction Theory, the negotiation process occurs through the stages of externalization, objectivation, and internalization, resulting in a new understanding that cultural preservation and religious practice can coexist harmoniously. This study demonstrates that the relationship between religion and culture in Karo society is more often manifested through accommodation and integration rather than conflict.

Abstract

Women's involvement in Indonesian politics is an essential part of fulfilling constitutional rights and strengthening inclusive democracy. Although the 30% quota policy for women's representation has been stipulated in election regulations, its implementation at the political party level has not been fully optimal, including in the National Awakening Party (PKB) of North Sumatra. This study aims to analyze the position, rights, and opportunities of women within the structure and leadership of PKB North Sumatra and to identify supporting and inhibiting factors for women's political involvement. The study used a qualitative method with a descriptive-analytical case study approach through in-depth interviews with PKB North. Sumatra female administrators and cadres as primary data, and supported by party documents, regulations, and scientific literature as secondary data. The results show that PKB North Sumatra normatively and structurally does not apply gender discrimination, because women and men have equal rights to vote, be elected, express opinions, and hold strategic positions based on the principles of suitability and capacity. However, quantitatively, women's representation in PKB North Sumatra's legislative body is still relatively low and has not reached the ideal quota, which is influenced by cultural, structural, and electoral dynamics barriers, rather than internal party restrictions. Nevertheless, the North Sumatra National Awakening Party (PKB) has made efforts to empower women through its Women's National wing, political education, and strengthening women's cadre development. This research confirms that women's political involvement in the North Sumatra PKB has moved beyond mere administrative fulfillment to more substantive participation, although ongoing strengthening is still needed to optimize women's representation in the political process and public policy.
