Abstract

This research aims to uncover the experiences and strategies of transgender individuals (waria) in facing economic challenges and social discrimination. The method employed is descriptive qualitative, utilizing data collection techniques including observation, interviews, and documentation. Analysis involves data reduction, presentation, and drawing conclusions. The findings reveal that waria often face discrimination in exercising their rights as citizens, encountering difficulties in obtaining employment, education, and healthcare. They frequently experience mockery and ridicule from their surroundings, even becoming subjects of online harassment. This arises due to a lack of societal awareness regarding the existence of waria, which is perceived as different from societal norms. Despite these challenges, waria employ various strategies to meet their economic needs. They engage not only in sex work or beauty industry management but, under necessity, seek assistance from their community that understands their circumstances. Notably, previous studies have yet to address the strategies employed by waria in meeting their needs amidst the discrimination they face.

Abstract

This study scrutinizes the integration of Sharia principles within Indonesia’s burgeoning fintech sector, zeroing in on the regulatory levers that shape compliance and public trust. Its academic contribution is to forge a Maqasid-al-Sharia policy framework that ties doctrinal objectives to concrete supervisory tools and technological safeguards. Drawing on in-depth interviews with regulators, platform executives, and scholars, we expose three stubborn frictions: shallow consumer literacy, fragmented oversight, and ad-hoc adoption of transparency technologies. We show how blockchain-based audit trails and tiered disclosure standards can seal these gaps while preserving Islamic ethical mandates. The evidence recasts regulators from passive gatekeepers to active market architects, offering a blueprint for rule-making that ignites Sharia-compliant innovation and shields borrowers from predatory practices.

Abstract

This research aims to reveal how inequality exists in developing countries, as well as government actions and Islamic views regarding the problem of inequality in economic development. The research method used a descriptive qualitative approach using primary and secondary data. The research results show that economic inequality is indicated by unequal growth in expenditure between community groups, while non-economic inequality is indicated by inequality in access to basic services, namely health, education, water and sanitation, and other basic services. The government played an active role by developing the economy in an inclusive manner, increasing worker-intensive investment, giving special attention to micro and small businesses, expanding the rural economy and developing the agricultural sector, guaranteeing social protection for all workers, continuing poverty reduction programs. In Islam, regarding the issue of inequality, there must be consistency in terms of economic growth and equality due to creating a fair situation.
