Abstract

Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan memahami istilah Asing di era pandemi Covid-19 siswa SMP Negeri 38 Makassar yang diperoleh dari kemampuan siswa SMP Negeri 38 Makassar mengartikan istilah Asing di era pandemi Covid-19 dan kemampuan siswa SMP Negeri 38 Makassar menggunakan istilah Asing di era pandemi Covid-19 ke dalam kalimat. Populasi dalam penelitian ini siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 38 Makassar sebanyak 3 kelas, sedangkan sampelnya sebanyak 48 siswa perwakilan dari kelas VIII A, B dan C. Data penelitian diperoleh dengan memberikan 2 jenis tes yaitu tes menjodohkan (Matching), dan tes membuat kalimat. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data diperoleh rata-rata keseluruhan hasil tes menjodohkan (Matching) sebesar 40,77 dan rata-rata keseluruhan hasil tes membuat kalimat sebesar 41,37. Hal tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa siswa SMP Negeri 38 Makassar kurang mampu mengartikan istilah Asing di era pandemi Covid-19, didukung oleh rata-rata keseluruhan yaitu 40,77 yang berada dikategori penilaian kurang mampu, dan siswa SMP Negeri 38 Makassar cukup mampu menggunakan istilah Asing Covid-19 ke dalam kalimat, didukung oleh rata-rata keseluruhan yaitu 41,37 yang berada di kategori penilaian cukup mampu.Kata kunci: Kemampuan Memahami, Istilah Asing, Covid-19.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the strategies used by teachers in restricting English vocabulary. In this study used a qualitative approach. The population used in this study were English teachers at Madania Makassar schools. Selection of the population is done by purposive sampling. Researchers conducted observations and interviews for data collection. From the results of data analysis and processing, it is known that the strategies used by English teachers at Madania Makassar schools to teach vocabulary are, Repeating the Words, Coloring the Picture, Grouping Words, Finding the Picture, Connecting Words and Pictures, and Name the Object Shown in the Picture. During the learning process, the teacher can manage the class well so that students are actively involved in learning. The books used during the learning process are books designed by the teacher, but still guided by the government's curriculum.. Keywords— Vocabulary, Teaching Strategies, Picture.
