Abstract

The purpose of this study was to explain the effectiveness of writing Lontara’ alphabet Makassar via letters card media in Class VII SMPN 1 Pallangga, Gowa district. This research used quantitative method. The steps was taken, namely (1) The initial test (pre-test) or measurement prior to treatment, (2) the implementation of the action (treatment), and (3) the measurement that was done after post- test. The object of this study was the students of Class VII students in SMP Negeri 1 Pallangga, while the selected students as sample were students of class VII-18 woth total 50 students. Data collection techniques used were participatory observation, test, and interviews. Data analysis techniques used include data description, the average similarity test, and requirements analysis test. The results show that learning by using letters card media is very effective. It can be seen from the results of post-test analysis which shows higher level of achievement by using a lontara’ alphabet Makassar letters card media compared to the pre-test. In addition, in learning process the students are more active by using the letter card media compared to not using these media. While other factors that influence the effectiveness of learning can be affected by three factors, they are motivation, educational qualifications of teachers, and the environment.

Abstract

ABSTRAK: Penelitian ini adalah jenis penelitian kualitatif. Data yang diperoleh disajikan dalam bentuk deskripsi yang dianalisis dengan cara pandang teori Semiotika Charles Sanders Peirce. Desain yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Data-data yang dimaksud tersebut berupa kata, frasa, atau klausa yang mengandung ikon, indeks, dan simbol dalam novel Tarian Bumi karya Oka Rusmini. Fokus dalam penelitian ini adalah analisis novel Tarian Bumi karya Oka Rusmini dengan menggunakan kajian semiotika melalui deskripsi makna ikon, indeks, dan simbol. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini adalah teknik dokumentasi, teknik baca, dan teknik catat. Analisis data yang akan dilakukan pada penelitian ini mengikuti tiga tahap, yaitu: reduksi data, penyajian data, penyimpulan dan verifikasi data. Hasil pada penelitian ini ditemukan bentuk ikon, indeks, dan simbol pada novel Tarian Bumi karya Oka Rusmini dengan menggunakan kajian semiotika Charles Sanders Pierce. Pertama, bentuk ikon ditemukan tokoh Luh Sekar sebagai ikon perempuan ambisius, tokoh Telaga sebagai ikon perempuan keras, dan tokoh Sagra sebagai ikon perempuan yang tegas. Kedua, bentuk indeks ditemukan indeks penderitaan tokoh Luh Sekar dan indeks malangnya nasib tokoh Telaga. Ketiga, Simbol yang ditemukan dari penelitian ini adalah simbol budaya Bali.Kata Kunci: Ikon, Indeks, Semiotika, dan Simbol,  EARTH DANCE NOVEL BY OKA RUSMINI (SEMIOTIC STUDIES OF CHARLES SANDERS PEIRCE) ABSTRACT: This type of research is qualitative research. The data obtained was presented in the form of a description analyzed by the semiotics theory of Charles Sanders Peirce. The design used in this study is descriptive qualitative. The data in question are words, phrases, or clauses containing icons, indexes, and symbols in the novel Dance of the Earth by Oka Rusmini. The focus of this study is the analysis of the novel Dance of the Earth by Oka Rusmini using semiotic studies through descriptions of the meaning of icons, indexes, and symbols. The data collection techniques used in this study are documentation techniques, reading techniques, and record techniques. The data analysis that will be conducted in this study follows three stages, namely: data reduction, data presentation, data collection and verification. The results in this study found the shape of icons, indexes, and symbols in the novel Earth Dance by Oka Rusmini using the semiotic study of Charles Sanders Pierce. First, the iconic shape was found by Luh Sekar as an ambitious female icon, Telaga figure as a hard female icon, and Sagra figure as a stern female icon. Second, the form of index found the suffering index of Luh Sekar figures and the unfortunate index of the fate of Telaga figures. Third, the symbol found in this study is a symbol of Balinese culture. Keywords: Icons, Indexes, Semiotics, and Symbols.

Abstract

This research is a classroom action research (Classroom Action Research) which aims to improve students' Indonesian learning outcomes through learning with a process skills approach. The subjects of this study were students of class X-3 SMA Negeri 4 Palopo with 40 students, 12 male students, and 28 female students. Data collection was carried out using learning outcomes tests and observation techniques, and journals. The author made the research instrument in collaboration with a class X Indonesian language teacher at SMA Negeri 4 Palopo. The collected data were analyzed using quantitative and qualitative analysis. The results achieved after applying the process skills approach in learning are: (1) In the first Cycle, the average score of student mastery is 14.71, (2) In the second Cycle, the average score of student mastery was 65.24; (3) There was an increase in student mastery from Cycle I to cycle II of 50.53; (4) The process skills approach can make students more active and enjoy learning Indonesian. From the results of the research above, it can be concluded that the process skills approach can improve the learning outcomes of Indonesian students in class X-3 SMA Negeri 4 Palopo.

Abstract

This study aimed to examined the value of environmental education in the novel Anak Rantau by Ahmad Fuadi. This research used descriptive qualitative method. Data collection method used the documentary method using reading and note-taking technique. Data analysis was carried out through several stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The result of this study indicated that novel Anak Rantau by Ahmad Fuadi contained the value of environmental education, namely establishing a harmonious relationship between humans and nature by maintaining and caring for nature as well as possible. So that human wisdom and prudence will be created in responding to all natural wealth with everything in it for the sake of human survival in the future.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the novel Genduk Duku to find a position as a subject or object that experiences gender injustice and its relevance to gender-based literacy learning in high school. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative-critical linguistic method. The data techniques used were documentation, read, and record techniques. The data analysis technique used is the Sara Mills critical model analysis assisted by Mansour Fakih's theory of gender injustice with procedures, data reports, data classification, and data analysis. The results of the study found that the female characters in the novel, both the main character, Genduk Duku, and the supporting characters, Putri Arumardi and Tejarukmi, each took turns as actors who tell stories or who are told, all experience a form of gender, in terms of (a) marginalization, (b) subordination, (c) stereotyping, (d) verbal violence, (e) double burden in terms of women who work in the public sector and the domestic sector. This study can be integrated with gender-based literary literacy learning in high schools in terms of presenting a description of discourse that displays the practice of gender injustice and critical attitudes that students must take to change the practice of gender injustice.

Abstract

Penelitian ini, berakar dari kekeliruan berpikir masyarakat yang seringkali menganggap bahwa, wacana gender adalah wacana yang berkaitan dengan kodrat manusia, sehingga menimbulkan berbagi bentuk ketidakadilan gender yang juga tercermin dalam karya sastra. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan bentuk ketidakadilan gender dalam Novel Rara Mendut. Data berupa kata, frasa, klausa dan kalimat yang bersumber dari novel Rara Mendut karya Y.B. Mangunwijaya. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif-linguistik kritis yang berfokus pada analisis bentuk ketidakadilan gender ditinjau dari posisi subjek-objek dan posisi pembaca. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan dan menjelaskan bahwa dalam novel ditemukan 174 data dengan 46 data terpilih mengenai bentuk ketidakadilan gender berupa marginalisasi, subordinasi, stereotip, kekerasan dan beban ganda yang ditinjau berdasarkan posisi aktor baik sebagai subjek maupun objek, dan posisi pembaca.

Abstract

Penelitian ini adalah penelitian pre-experimenal design yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh metode debat terhadap kemampuan menulis teks eksposisi siswa kelas X SMAN 1 Toraja Utara. Variabel bebas dalam penelitian ini adalah metode debat dan variabel terikat adalah kemampuan menulis teks eksposisi. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa jurusan IPA kelas X SMAN 1 Toraja Utara sebanyak 2 kelas sedangkan sampel penelitian adalah kelas X IPA 1 dengan jumlah siswa 27 orang siswa. Data hasil penelitian diperoleh dari hasil pre-test dan post-test pembelajaran menulis teks eksposisi. Teknik analisis data yaitu dengan analisis deskriptif dan inferensial menggunakan aplikasi SPSS versi 23. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa metode debat berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap kemampuan menulis teks eksposisi siswa kelas X SMAN 6 Toraja Utara. Hal ini, dapat dibuktikan, berdasarkan perbandingan nilai thitung dan ttabel = 11,301>1,701.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: mendeskripsikan kemampuan membaca kritis teks advertorial siswa yang memiliki minat baca rendah, sedang dan tinggi di kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Sibulue. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif. Desain Penelitian ini ialah deskriptif kuantitatif dengan menggunakan metode survey. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan mengumpulkan data mengenai angket minat baca dan soal dari lima keterampilan membaca kritis yakni: keterampilan menginterpretasi, keterampilan menganalisis, keterampilan menginferensi, keterampilan mengevaluasi, dan keterampilan mengeksplanasi. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan yakni observasi, angket dan soal pilihan ganda. Hasil yakni kemampuan membaca kritis teks advertorial siswa yang memiliki minat baca rendah dan sedang dinyatakan mampu dalam membaca kritis. Sedangkan kemampuan membaca kritis siswa yang memiliki minat baca tinggi dinyatakan mampu.

Abstract

This research is a classroom action research that aims to determine whether the cooperative learning Numbered Head Together (NHT) can improve students’ learning outcome in Indonesian course. The subjects of this study were 45 students of class VII A of SMP Negeri 8 Palopo in the even semester of the 2018/2019 academic year. This research was carried out in two cycles, and each cycle consists of six meetings. Data collection was carried out using learning outcomes tests and observations. The data collected were analyzed using quantitative analysis, and the observation data were analyzed using qualitative analysis. The results showed that the average score of students in the first cycle was 40.02, with a standard deviation of 20.21. while in the second cycle, the average score was 68.26, with a standard deviation of 12.00. It shows that classical student learning outcomes have been achieved. From the results of this study, it can be concluded that with the implementation of cooperative learning NHT in the learning process, the learning outcomes, attendance, readiness, and activeness of students can increase.

Abstract

Abstract. This study aims to describe the phonological variations found in the Lamaholot dialect on Adonara Island, East Flores Regency. The research method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method. As for managing the data, the method used is the proficient method using the face met technique and the listening method with the free, active, proficient listening technique, the note-taking technique and the recording technique. In this study it was found that the language used by the people of Adonara Island at four points of the village was the observation area for phonological variations. Of the 211 questionnaires in the form of vocabulary used by the researcher, the classification became 32 vocabularies that experienced phonological variations. The findings of this language variation are divided into categories of changes in vowel phonemes, changes in consonant phonemes, changes in vowel and consonant phonemes, adding phonemes and deleting phonemes. It is known that the linguistic situation in the observation area is caused by the different geographical conditions and cultural backgrounds between each observation area. Lamahala Jaya Village and Kwaelaga-Lamawato Village, which are located in the East Adonara District, are adrift on the coastal and mountainous locations. The same thing also works in Nisakarang Village and Pepakgeka Village, which are located in Kelubagolit District.  Keywords: Language Variation, Phonology Variation, Dialectology, Lamaholot Language
