Abstract

One of the objectives in rice breeding is to increase grain yield. The research was to evaluate numbers of hybrid rice genotypes and also to obtain the information about grain yield correlation main, grain yield component from numbers of hybrid rice genotypes and influencial character as selection criteria. The experiment conducted in the second season (MT II) of 2013 at Cilacap, Central Java province and in Malang, East Java province by using Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with four replications. The genetic materials used were 18 hybrid rice genotypes and two check varieties namely Hipa8 and Ciherang. The results showed that grain yield had been effected by location, genotypes and both interactions. Hipa8 give yield average 9 t/ha while Ciherang 8.78 t/ha. There were two hybrid rice genotypes have equal yield statitistically with both check varieties. The hybrids were A7/BH25B-1B(9.13 t/ha) and IR58025A/CRS516 (9.15 t/ha). Based on path analysis numbers of empty grain, seed set, plant high and number of productive tillers have direct effect to yield with path coefficient of 0.0437; 0.3114; 0.,1952 and 1.931.These characters could be used as selection criteria.

Abstract

Development of doubled haploid lines of upland rice through anther culture is one way to obtain superior upland rice varieties tolerant to drought. The objectives of this research were to determine the response of doubled haploid lines to drought stress at seedling stage and to select tolerant doubled haploid lines. The research was conducted at a screenhouse of Muara Research Station, Indonesia Center of Rice Research (ICRR) from November to December 2017. Fourteen doubled haploid lines and 4 check varieties, namely Inpago 10 and Limboto, Salumpikit (drought tolerant check) and IR 20 (drought sensitive check) were used in this study. The experiment was arranged in a randomized complete block design with three replications. The observations were conducted on leaf rolling, leaf drought, and recovery ability. Based on Friedman nonparametric analysis, HR-5-7-1-1 and HR-7-15-2-1 had moderate response with estimated median values for leaf rolling of 3.44 and 3.00, respectively. Three doubled haploid lines namely HR-2-27-2-7, HR-2-34-1-3 and HR-7-15-2-1 had moderate response to drought with estimated median value of leaf drought of 3.56. Nine lines of doubled haploid had tolerant response with estimated median value of recovery ability of 1.00-1.56. Based on weighted selection index, nine doubled haploid lines with positive and high selection index were identified; however, only two lines (HR-7-15-2-1 and B3-2) had selection index higher than Inpago 10 and Limboto.Keywords: drought tolerance, leaf rolling, recovery, weighted selection index

Abstract

Budidaya padi di sawah tadah hujan dengan sistem tebar benih langsung memerlukan varietas yang beradaptasi baik pada kondisi ekosistem tersebut dan toleran terhadap tingkat oksigen rendah selama berkecambah atau anaerobic germination (AG). Penelitian bertujuan mengevaluasi penampilan agronomi galur-galur padi dilakukan di sawah tadah hujan, serta toleransinya terhadap kondisi AG. Evaluasi toleransi cekaman kondisi anaerob dilakukan di rumah kaca BB Padi pada bulan Februari 2020. Materi yang digunakan adalah 12 genotipe padi. Penapisan AG dilakukan dengan merendam benih dalam air dengan ketinggian 10 cm selama 10 hari. Pengujian daya hasil dilakukan di sawah tadah hujan Sumedang dan Pati pada musim hujan 2020. Percobaan disusun menggunakan rancangan kelompok lengkap teracak dengan empat ulangan. Toleransi terhadap kondisi AG dapat diidentifikasi berdasarkan karakter persentase daya pulih, panjang tunas dan akar, dan biomassa. Karakter-karakter tersebut saling berkorelasi nyata, positif, dan kuat. Galur IR 83381-B-B-6-1, IR 129336:11-19-Ski-0-Kn-3 dan B14897E-SKI-9-7-2 memiliki toleransi AG lebih baik daripada Inpari 30 dan Inpari 39. Dari hasil pengujian lapangan, dua galur memiliki rata-rata GKG setara dengan Inpari 30 dan Inpari 39, serta konsisten cukup tinggi yaitu IR 129336:11-19-Ski-0-Kn-3 (5.61 ton ha-1) dan B14316E-KA-15 (6.04 ton ha-1). Hasil pengujian ini dapat dilanjutkan dengan uji multi lokasi pada galur IR 83381-B-B-6-1, IR 129336:11-19-Ski-0-Kn-3 dan B14897E-SKI-9-7-2 dengan mempertimbangkan daya hasil dan adaptasinya sehingga dapat dilepas menjadi varietas toleran AG.
