Abstract

This research aimed at investigating the effect of Teams Games Tournament (TGT) method towards students’ English learning achievement for the eighth grade of MTs. Muallimat NW Kelayu. It was categorized into quantitative research and included in an experimental method. TGT method was applied in the experimental group and another method was applied in control group. In gathering the data, the entire students of the eighth grade comprising 36 students were tested pre-test and post-test. Furthermore, the data was analyzed quantitatively to know the ideal maximum score (SMi), ideal mean (Mi), and ideal deviation score (SDi). Meanwhile, the hypothesis was tested using t-test with the significance level of 0,05 (p=0,05). The result showed that t-test was higher than t-table (3.68>2.02). The alternative hypothesis was accepted. In this case, TGT method has positive effect toward English learning achievement for the students of the eighth grade of MTs. Abstract

Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas guru daan aktivitas siswa, serta peningkatan kemampuan berbicara siswa setelah menerapkkan model role play kelas V SDN1 Mangkung. Metode penelitian yaitu penelitian tindakan kelas (ptk) subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa dan guru kelas V sedangkan objek penelitian ini adalah role play dan keterampilan berbicara bahasa inggris adapun teknik pengambilan data menggunakan observasi, angket, dan tes. Hasil penelitian pada aktivitas guru mengalami peningkatan dari siklus I memperoleh persentase 75, 29% dan siklus ii menjadi 87, 05%. Pada aktivitas siswa mengalami peningkatan dari siklus i memperoleh persentase 70, 58% dan siklus ii menjadi 85, 88%. Kemampuan berbicara siswa pada siklus I memperoleh persentase 50% kategori kurang mengalami peningkatan pada siklus ii menjadi 87, 5% kategori baik sekali. Berdasarkan masalah yang telah dipaparkan, maka dapat dikatakan bahwa adanya Penerapan Model Role Play Dapat Meningkatkan Keterampilan Berbicara Siswa Kelas V SDN I Mangkung.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to conduct a thorough analysis of the role of English as a catalyst for progress, with a particular emphasis on its impact on global competitiveness and sustainable development. The research methodology involves a library research approach, which entails a comprehensive analysis of a wide range of relevant literature sources, including scholarly journal articles, books, research reports, and policy documents related to English, global competitiveness, and sustainable development. The data obtained from these sources were then subjected to a qualitative analysis to identify patterns of relationships and arguments for or against the role of English as a catalyst for progress in the context of global competitiveness and sustainable development. The results of the study indicate that English language acquisition significantly contributes to improving global competitiveness by facilitating access to information, employment opportunities, and international collaboration. Furthermore, the study found that English plays an important role in knowledge and technology transfer, which is crucial for innovation and sustainable development. These findings underscore the importance of continued investment in quality and equitable English language education as a strategy to enhance global competitiveness and achieve sustainable development goals. This research provides theoretical foundations and insights for policymakers and practitioners.

Abstract

This study aimed to identify the factors contributing to students' nervousness when speaking English and assess their English proficiency at SMK Islam Plus Yadaro. This research employs qualitative methodologies with a descriptive orientation. Two instruments were employed in this study: the LFCAS questionnaire. The research sample consisted of 35 students divided into two classes: class X Accounting and class X TSM 2. The sample was obtained through purposive sampling. The data for this study were gathered by administering a questionnaire and a speaking test to two classes at SMK Islam Plus Yadaro: class X accounting and class X TSM 2. The results of the LFCAS questionnaire indicated that communication apprehension was 33.5%, fear of negative evaluation was 24.56%, and test anxiety was 41.94%. The results for the class X accounting and X TSM 2 students on the five aspects are as follows: Vocabulary (19.93%), Grammar (19.26%), Fluency (19.77%), Pronunciation (20.6%), and understanding (20.44%). The LFCAS questionnaire allows pupils to be classified as low or below average. In contrast, the students' speaking test results are classified as excellent.
