Abstract

The Jalan Pura Demak area in Denpasar City is a location that has great potential for developing Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). MSMEs have a strategic role in the local economy, contributing to job creation, economic growth and poverty alleviation. However, the success of MSMEs is very dependent on factors that influence the level of comfort. This research aims to analyze the comfort level of temperature and humidity and its impact on the activities of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) on Jalan Pura Demak, Denpasar. The research method used is measuring temperature and humidity and calculating the Temperature Humanity Index. Apart from that, this research also used a questionnaire instrument given to MSME owners who were active in the area. Data analysis was carried out using quantitative descriptive statistical techniques. The research results show that the Temperature Humanity Index at each point is not much different. From the three points of temperature and humidity measurement results, it can be seen that the Humanity Index Temperature at point I (SPBU) on the first day was 21.0 (comfortable), on the second day 24.8 (comfortable), and on the third day 24.8 (comfortable). At point II (Tea Poci), for the first day it was 24.8 (comfortable), for the second day it was 25.6 (medium), for the third day it was 25.6 (medium), while at point III (Circle K) on the first day it was 24, 6 (comfortable), second day 24.8 (comfortable) and third day 24.8). Meanwhile, regarding the value of public perception regarding the level of comfort, around 69% of MSME players still feel safe in their MSME area. This percentage of public perception is correlated with the Temperature Humanity Index at each temperature and humidity measurement point. Thus, it can be concluded that the Jalan Pura Demak route in Denpasar City is not yet in the uncomfortable category for MSMEs

Abstract

In Indonesia, particularly in Denpasar City, Bali, mangrove forests play a crucial role in maintaining environmental and local economic sustainability. However, in recent years, mangrove forests in Bali, as well as throughout Indonesia, have faced significant pressure due to human activities such as urban development, sand mining, and climate change. The objective of this research is to identify the dominant land use patterns around the Ngurah Rai Bali Forest Park (Tahura Ngurah Rai Bali) mangrove area and evaluate the impact of land use on mangrove area changes for the sustainability of the mangrove ecosystem in Tahura Ngurah Rai Bali. The research methodology employed in this study is descriptive. Located strategically along the Sanur, Benoa, Tuban, and Nusa Dua tourist route along the Ngurah Rai Bali bypass, Tahura Ngurah Rai Bali is geographically positioned between 8°04'2'' - 8°04'9'' south latitude (LS) and 110°50'9'' - 110°50'14'' east longitude (BT). The Long-Term Management Plan, documented and approved by the Directorate General of Conservation and Natural Resources of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia through Decree SK.53/KSDAE/PKK/KSA.0/3/2023, is effective for 10 years from 2023 to 2032. This plan is an extension of the 2012-2022 Long-Term Development Plan (RPJP). The mangrove conservation area covers 159.44 hectares, while the production forest that can be converted covers 169.5 hectares. The impact of land use for purposes beyond forestry does not significantly affect the mangrove ecosystem. However, there is a highly significant impact on changes in mangrove area due to land conversion for physical structures such as the Bali Mandara Toll Road, the PT. Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) Tower, and the Wastewater Treatment Plant (IPAL).

Abstract

Mangrove forests play a very important role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions as part of efforts to mitigate climate change in Indonesia. The existence of mangrove forests is sensitive to extreme environmental changes, and high levels of utilization increase the risk of deforestation. The purpose of this study is to provide information regarding distribution, density, and deforestation of mangrove forests in 2023 in West Nusa Tenggara Province. Data processing was carried out based on cloud computing using Google Earth Engine with a random forest algorithm and supervised classification, utilizing Landsat satellite imagery data from 2000 and 2023. The classification of mangrove forest density was performed by interpreting the satellite imagery from 2023 using the NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) method. Field surveys were conducted at 40 sample points to observe the presence and condition of mangrove forests that experienced deforestation in 2023. The results of image data processing were validated using field data and high-resolution images from Google Earth, with an accuracy assessment method presented in the error matrix. The results showed that mangrove forests have a sparse density of 4968.10 ha, a medium density of 2516 ha, and a dense density of 4928 ha. The total deforestation area in West Nusa Tenggara Province is 610 ha, with Dompu Regency having the largest percentage of deforestation, accounting for 68% of the total mangrove deforestation in West Nusa Tenggara Pronvince. The destruction of mangrove forests is mostly caused by the fisheries sector, namely the conversion of mangrove forests into pond sites. Keywords: Deforestation; Google Earth Engine; Mangrove Forest; NDVI; West Nusa Tenggara

Abstract

The waste accumulation problem is no longer a new problem at Kuta Beach. Various efforts have been made by society and local government to reduce existing pollution. However, these efforts are still unable to reduce the huge rubbish problem at Kuta Beach. The phenomenon of the west wind that sends rubbish from outside Bali and the society’s lack awareness in protecting the environment worsen the beauty of Kuta Beach. This waste problem threatens Kuta Beach in terms of beauty, public health and the biota around it. One effort that can be made to overcome this problem is by carrying out beach clean-up activities around Kuta Beach. This beach clean-up action aims to provide understanding to the local community and tourists about the importance of maintaining cleanliness so that the beauty of Kuta Beach can be enjoyed comfortably. The implementation of this beach clean-up action received the attention of many parties and was attended by 1798 participants consisting of various groups of people from children to adults. The beach clean-up activity was well organized and ran smoothly in accordance with the activity plan that had been prepared.
