Abstract

PRODUCTION  ANALYSIS  OF FOOD  CROP WASTE PRODUCT AS CATTLE FEED IN NORTH BOLAANGMONGONDOW REGENCY. Cattle can be used as the main economical source giving added value in farm of the farmers to support their family needs in North Bolaang Mongondow regency. Farmers utilized food crop waste product for cattle feed maintenance. The problem was that the food crop waste product potential was unknown to support cattle development in the farm of the farmers. The objective of this study was to analyze food crop waste product potential. Materials in this study were involving food crop area, type of food crop waste product, and cattle. Research method was applied by survey method involving primer and secondary data. Data were analyzed by proximate analysis conducted by Research Institution and Industrial Standardization, Manado and descriptive analysis. Agricultural waste product was local feedstuff as crude fiber source that can be used for cattle feed. The potential feedstuff was calculated on the basis of feedstuff production multiplied by crop cultivation area size and expressed in dry matter (DM). The highest potential of DM was the wet rice paddy straw, followed by dry rice paddy straw, corn straw, sweet potato leaves, cassava leaves, green bean straw, and peanut straw. This study concluded that dry matter productions of wet rice paddy straw, corn straw and peanut straw were highly produced in Sanggkub district. Dry matter productions of dry rice paddy straw, cassava leaves, and sweet potato leaves were highly produced in East Bolaang Itang district, while dry matter production of green bean straw was highly produced in West Bolaang Itang district. Based on this research it can be suggested to introduce the technology related to the preservation of food crop waste product in North Bolaang Mongondow regency.   Keywords: Waste product, food crop, cattle, North Bolaang Mongondow regency.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of giving fermented herbal medicine using EM4 (Effective Microorganisms4) on feed consumption, body weight growth, and feed conversion of bloiler chickens. This study used a completely randomised design consisting of 4 treatments and 6 replications. The treatments in the study were J0 (control); J1 (20 cc of herbal medicine); J2 (25 cc of herbal medicine) and J3 (30 cc of herbal medicine). The variables observed were feed consumption, body weight gain, and feed conversion. The results showed that the provision of herbal medicine in the drinking water of bloiler chickens at 30 cc was significantly different from feed consumption, body weight gain and feed conversion.Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian jamu ternak hasil fermentasi menggunakan EM4 (Effective Microorganisms4) terhadap konsumsi pakan, pertumbuhan bobot badan, dan konversi pakan ayam bloiler. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap yang terdiri dari 4 perlakuan dan 6 kali ulangan. Perlakuan dalam penelitian yaitu J0 (kontrol); J1 (20 cc jamu ternak); J2 (25 cc jamu ternak) dan J3 (30 cc jamu ternak). Variabel yang diamati adalah konsumsi pakan, pertambahan bobot badan, dan konversi pakan. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa pemberian jamu ternak pada air minum ayam bloiler pada pemberian 30 cc berbeda nyata terhadap konsumsi pakan, pertambahan bobot badan dan konversi pakan.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of using mango fruit extract as soaking on the physical and hedonic quality of manila duck meat parent stock afkir The research material used 10 manila ducks parent stock age 20 months of manila duck meat parent stock afkir taken meat on the pectoralis superficialis which is cut small with a weight of 10 grams. This study used a complete randomised design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 5 replicates where each treatment and replicate contained five pieces (slices) of duck meat. The treatment given was the length of soaking of manila duck meat parent stock afkir for 0 hours (P0), 1 hour (P1), 3 hours (P2) and 5 hours (P5). The physical quality of the meat observed were pH and cooking loss, while the hedonic quality observed were colour, taste, aroma and tenderness of the meat. Data were analysed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), if there were significant differences then further tests were carried out using Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT). The results showed that soaking meat using mango fruit extract gave a significant effect at the 99% confidence level on physical quality, namely pH and cooking shrinkage as well as hedonic quality, namely meat colour and aroma. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas penggunaan ekstrak buah mangga sebagai perendaman terhadap kualitas fisik dan hedonik daging itik manila parent stock afkir Materi penelitian menggunakan 10 ekor itik manila parent stock umur 20 bulan daging itik manila parent stock afkir yang diambil dagingnya pada bagian pectoralis superficialis yang dipotong kecil dengan berat 10 gram. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan 4 perlakuan dan 5 ulangan dimana setiap perlakuan dan ulangan terdapat lima potong (irisan) daging itik. Perlakuan yang diberikan yaitu lama perendaman terhadap daging itik manila parent stock afkir selama 0 jam (P0), 1 jam (P1), 3 jam (P2) dan 5 jam (P5). Kualitas fisik daging yang diamati yaitu pH dan susut masak (cooking loss), sedangkan kualitas hedonik yang diamati yaitu warna, rasa, aroma dan keempukan daging. Analisis data menggunakan Analisis Sidik Ragam (ANOVA), apabila terdapat perbedaan yang nyata maka dilakukan uji lanjutan menggunakan Uji Jarak Berganda Duncan (DMRT). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perendaman daging menggunakan ekstrak buah mangga memberikan pengaruh nyata pada taraf kepercayaan 99% terhadap kualitas fisik yaitu pH dan susut masak serta kualitas hedonik yaitu warna dan aroma daging.

Abstract

The objective was to obtain farmer perception on Artificial insemination also to obtain the relationship between farmer perceptions with Artificial insemination (IA) at Piogaluman sub district. The respondents were 30 farmers based on the data of department of agriculture who are the acceptor of artificial insemination. Analysis of the research used Rank Spearman. From the result showed farmer perception on Artificial insemination (IA) technology were on the high category (average value 3,8). The relationship between farmer perceptions with the technology were on the medium with correlation coefficient as 0,417 and confidence level were 95%.Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui persepsi peternak terhadap teknologi Inseminasi Buatan (IB) serta mengetahui hubungan antara persepsi peternak dengan teknologi Inseminasi Buatan (IB) di Kecamatan Pinogaluman Kabupaten Bolaang Mongondow Utara Provinsi Sulawesi Utara. Responden sebanyak 30 peternak yang merupakan akseptor inseminasi buatan diambil berdasarkan data yang diperoleh dari Dinas Pertanian. Untuk melihat hubungan antara persepsi dengan inseminasi buatan dilakukan analisis koefisien korelasi Rank Spearman. Dari hasil penelitian terlihat bahwa persepsi peternak terhadap teknologi IB berada pada kategori tinggi (nilai rata-rata 3,8). Hubungan antara persepsi peternak dengan teknologi Inseminasi Buatan (IB) berada pada kategori sedang dengan koefisien korelasi sebesar 0,417 pada tingkat kepercayaan 95%.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the success rate of artificial insemination programme implementation in Gorontalo District. The method used in this research is survey method. The type of research conducted is descriptive quantitative research using secondary data and primary data to be able to describe or explain descriptively about the Artificial Insemination (IB) programme of cattle in Gorontalo Regency. The results showed that in Gorontalo District, the S/C ratio was 1.44, indicating 1-2 inseminations and then the cattle became pregnant. The number of cattle that did not show re-breeding or Non Return Rate (NRR) was 66% and the percentage of pregnancy (Conception Rate) for one time IB was 54.78%, the success rate of Artificial Insemination in Gorontalo Regency can be categorised as good.Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui tingkat keberhasilan pelaksanaan program inseminasi buatan ternak sapi di Kabupaten Gorontalo. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode survei. Jenis penelitian yang dilakukan merupakan jenis penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif dengan menggunakan data sekunder dan data primer untuk dapat menggambarkan atau menjelaskan secara deskriptif tentang program Inseminasi Buatan (IB) ternak sapi di Kabupaten Gorontalo. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa di Kabupaten Gorontalo angka S/C rasio 1.50 yang menunjukkan 1-2 kali inseminasi kemudian ternak mengalami kebuntingan. Jumlah ternak sapi yang tidak memerlihatkan birahi kembali atau Non Return Rate (NRR) adalah sebesar 66 % dan persentase kebuntingan (Conception Rate) untuk satu kali IB adalah sebesar 54.78%, Tingkat keberhasilan Inseminasi Buatan di Kabupaten Gorontalo dapat dikategorikan baik.

Abstract

Manembo-nembo Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the conservation areas for Sulawesi bear cuscus (A. ursinus) in North Sulawesi Province. As one of the endemic marsupial species of Sulawesi, the species continues to be threatened and is included in the IUCN red list. This study aims to determine the diversity of feed and feed preferences of A. ursinus. This study was conducted for approximately 1 month (October 22 - November 29, 2009), using the focal animal sampling method. The results found that A. ursinus in Manembo-nembo Wildlife Sanctuary consumed 13 spesies of feed included in 8 families, with a moderate diversity of feed H'=2.398 (1<H'<3) and a moderate richness of feed R=2.553 (2.5<R<4). A. ursinus most often consumes young leaves (56.8%), followed by leaf shoots (12%), fruit (10.4%), flowers (9.6%), and mature leaves (8.8%). Based on the preference index, 5 feed preferences were obtained by A. ursinus, namely: Dracontomelon dao (w=3.34), Garuga floribunda (w=3.23), Palaquium amboinense (w=2.93), Mangifera indica (w=2.64), and Cananga odorata (w=1.63). The existence of food preferences by A. ursinus is also supported by the results of the Chi-square (χ2) test which obtained a χ2 hit value > X2, which is 42.96 > 12.026, with Asymp. Sig. 0.000 < 0.05.Suaka Margasatwa (SM) Manembo-nembo merupakan salah satu kawasan konservasi kuskus beruang Sulawesi (A. ursinus) di Provinsi Sulawesi Utara. Sebagai salah satu spesies marsupial endemik Sulawesi, spesies ini terus mengalami ancaman dan masuk dalam daftar merah IUCN. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keanekaragaman jenis pakan dan preferensi pakan A. ursinus. Penelitian ini dilakukan selama kurang lebih 1 bulan (22 Oktober – 29 November 2009), menggunakan metode focal animal sampling. Hasil penelitian ini menemukan bahwa A. ursinus di SM Manembo-nembo mengkonsumsi 13 jenis pakan yang termasuk dalam 8 famili, dengan keanekaragaman jenis pakan yang tergolong sedang H'=2,398 (1<H'<3) dan kekayaan jenis pakan yang juga tergolong sedang R=2,553 (2,5<R<4). A. ursinus di SM Manembo-nembo paling sering mengkonsumsi daun muda (56,8%), selanjutnya diikuti oleh pucuk daun (12%), buah (10,4%), bunga (9,6%), dan daun tua (8,8%). Berdasarkan indeks preferensi, diperoleh 5 preferensi pakan tertinggi oleh A. ursinus, yaitu: Dracontomelon dao (w=3,34), Garuga floribunda (w=3,23), Palaquium amboinense (w=2,93), Mangifera indica (w=2,64), dan Cananga odorata (w=1,63). Adanya preferensi pakan oleh A. ursinus di SM Manembo-nembo juga didukung oleh hasil uji Chi-square (χ2) yang memeroleh nilai χ 2 hit > X2, yaitu 42,96 > 12,026, dengan Asymp. Sig. 0,000 < 0,05.

Abstract

This research was conducted at the Basic Laboratory of Aquaculture for Agricultural Sciences, Muhammadiyah University of Gorontalo in January 2023. The aim of the research was to see the effect of soaking Wuluh star fruit extract on the quality of goat meat. A total of 1.5 kg of goat meat was obtained from the Gorontalo City Traditional Market as research material and placed in 20 experimental plots. The design used was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD). The soaking treatments used were T0= (Without Starfruit Extract), T2= (5% Extract), T3= (10% Extract), T4= (15% Extract), each with 5 repetitions. The results showed that soaking goat meat with different concentrations (0, 5%, 10% and 15%) for 30 minutes had no effect (P<0.05) on increasing the pH value of the meat. Organoleptic quality based on the panelists' assessment shows the largest percentage in T3, namely the treatment of soaking goat meat in a solution of star fruit with a concentration of 10% Penelitian ini dilakukan di Laboratorium Dasar Akuakultur Ilmu-Ilmu Pertanian Universitas Muhammadiyah Gorontalo pada bulan Januari  2023. Tujuan penelitian untuk melihat pengaruh perendaman ekstrak buah belimbing Wuluh terhadap kualitas daging kambing. Sebanyak 1.5 kg daging kambing diperoleh dari Pasar Tradisional Kota Gorontalo sebagai bahan penelitian ditempatkan dalam 20 petak percobaan. Rancangan yang digunakan yaitu Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL).  Perlakuan perendaman yang digunakan yaitu T0= (Tanpa Ekstrak Belimbing Wuluh), T2= (Ekstrak 5%), T3= (Ekstrak 10%), T4= (Ekstrak 15%), masing-masing dengan 5 kali ulangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Perlakuan perendaman daging kambing dengan konsentrasi yang berbeda (0, 5%, 10%, dan 15 %) selama 30 menit tidak  berpengaruh (P<0,05) terhadap peningkatan nilai pH daging. Kualitas organoleptik berdasarkan penilaian panelis memperlihatkan persentasi terbesar pada T3 yaitu perlakuan perendaman daging kambing  pada larutan buah belimbing wuluh dengan konsentrasi 10 %
