Abstract

This research aims to determine the performance of the grower phase until the first egg laying of mojosari ducks given turmeric flour supplementation. This research used 40 mojosari ducks aged 16-28 weeks. The experimental research method used a completely randomized design with five treatments and four replications. The study was carried out for 12 weeks, maintained intensively, and given basal feed with the addition of 0.2%, 0.4%, 0.6%, and 0.8% turmeric flour. Basal feed is made from fine bran, ground corn, and concentrate. The parameters observed were the final weight of the growth phase, body weight gain, feed conversion in the growth phase, body weight and age at first egg laying, and the weight of the first egg. The data obtained was then analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Pearson correlation. The results showed that adding turmeric flour at 16-24 weeks of age was able to increase body weight gain and reduce feed conversion rate (p<0.05), and at 24-28 weeks of age could accelerate the age of first egg laying (p<0.01). Pearson correlation showed that there was a positive relationship (0.462) between age at first laying and first egg weight, a negative relationship (-0.569) between age at first laying and body weight, and a negative relationship (-0.398) between duck body weight and first egg weight. Adding 0.6% turmeric flour to feed is the optimal and best level to improve the performance of mojosari ducks from the growth phase to the egg-laying phase. Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the combination of red fruit extract (pandanus conoideus lam) and green coconut water on the quality of Balinese cattle semen during cold storage. This research was conducted at the Field Laboratory of the Animal Husbandry Study Program, Faculty of Science and Technology. The method used was experimental laboratory. Semen used came from 2 Balinese cows aged 2-3 years collected 1 week 2 times. The research design used a Randomized Group Design (RAK) with 4 conditions and 10 repetitions consisting of P0 (control) = CEP-2 + 10% egg yolk, P1 = diluent of red fruit extract + coconut water + 10% egg yolk. P2 = red fruit extract diluent + coconut water + egg yolk 10% + fructose 1 mg/ml. P3 = red fruit extract diluent + coconut water + egg yolk 10% + fructose 2 mg/ml. The data generated will be analyzed using Analysis of Variance. The results showed that the best motility and viability in P0 (42.41 ± 1.72%) and (40.10 ± 1.12%) and low abnormality <10% which lasted until the 8th day of storage, then followed by P2 (43.19 ± 1.34%) and (47.22 ± 1.12%) and abnormality below <14%. After that followed by P1 (42.26 ± 1.40%) and (45.28 ± 1.19) and P3 (42.16 ± 1.37%) and (43.44 ± 1.17%) each P1 and P3 had abnormalities below <14%. In conclusion, the three diluents P1, P2 and P3 were able to maintain motility, viability and abnormality until the 5th day after storage so that the use of a combination of red fruit extract and coconut water in liquid semen can be used for the implementation of IB in the field.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the inhibition value of turmeric (Curcuma longa) against Salmonella and Escherichia coli and evaluate the bacterial population in the small intestinal digesta of Mojosari ducks. This study was arranged using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with six treatments and four replications; eachreplication consisted of eight Mojosari ducks.The in vitro study used four treatments of different concentrations of turmeric, consisting of Control/only water (C0), turmeric 98% + 2% water(C1), Probiotic 98% and 2% water (C2), turmeric 92%, and probiotic 8% (C3),and Bacitracin 92% + water 8% (C4). Then, the inhibition zone diameter was measured using the agar well diffusion method. On the other hand, the in vivo study was carried out by employing 192 Mojosari duck raised for 60 days. They were given the following dietary treatments, namely T0= basal diet, T1= basal diet supplemented with turmeric 0.2%, T2= basal diet supplemented with supplemented with turmeric 0.8%, T3= basal diet supplemented with turmeric 0.2%+probiotic 0.1% and T4=feed basal supplemented with supplemented with turmeric 0.8% + probiotic 0.6%, and T5 = basal diet + Zinc Bacitracin 0.01%. The variables measured were the total bacterial population based on the Total Plate Count (TPC) in the small intestinal digesta of Mojosari ducks. The Data were analyzed using one-way ANOVA. The differences among means were tested using theLeast Significant Difference (LSD) test.

Abstract

Community Service Activities entitled Freshwater Lobster and Silkworm Cultivation, were carried out from September to November 2024. The need for freshwater lobster feed that is difficult to obtain makes natural feed such as silkworm cultivation, an alternative to be used as feed for freshwater lobster cultivation. In addition, Freshwater Lobster cultivation is still very rarely carried out in the Gorontalo area, thus providing opportunities and benefits for inmates to be able to become independent after leaving prison. The need for freshwater lobster feed that is difficult to obtain makes natural feed for larvae/fry such as silkworms, an alternative to be used as feed for freshwater lobster cultivation. This PKM activity is a new hope for inmates to get a sustainable livelihood and income.

Abstract

Program Budidaya Kangkung dan Pembuatan Pupuk Organik Cair (POC) di Desa Pentadio Timur dilatarbelakangi oleh kebutuhan masyarakat untuk meningkatkan produktivitas pertanian sekaligus menjaga keseimbangan lingkungan. Program ini bertujuan memberikan edukasi dan keterampilan kepada masyarakat agar mampu mengelola pertanian secara mandiri dan berkelanjutan. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi seminar program kerja untuk mensosialisasikan rencana kegiatan, pelatihan pembuatan POC, dan praktik budidaya kangkung di lahan lab lapang terpadu dengan pendekatan partisipatif. Hasil pelaksanaan menunjukkan bahwa masyarakat berhasil memahami dan mempraktikkan teknik pembuatan POC dari bahan lokal serta memanfaatkan hasilnya untuk meningkatkan kualitas pertanian. Panen kangkung yang cepat, yaitu dalam waktu 25–30 hari, memberikan peluang besar bagi keberlanjutan sistem tanam ulang, meningkatkan pendapatan, dan mendukung ketahanan pangan lokal. Program ini menjadi langkah awal untuk mendorong inovasi dalam pertanian desa berbasis sumber daya lokal.

Abstract

The research aim of this research is to determine the nutritional quality of complete feed made from waste dragon fruit peel (Hylocereus sp.) substituted with corn tumps by looking at the effect on consumption and nutrient digestibility in goats. This research used a Completely Randomized Design (RAK) consisting of 3 treatments and 4 replication groups. The treatment consists of P1: Complete Feed with 50% Corn Tumpi without Dragon Fruit Peel Flour, P2: Complete Feed with 45% Corn Tumpi and 5% Dragon Fruit Peel Flour, and P3: Complete feed with 40% Corn Tumpi and Fruit Peel Flour Dragon 10%. The research results showed that the highest average ADF consumption (g/day) was in treatment P3, namely 64.44 grams/day and the lowest ADF digestibility (%) was in treatment P1, namely 67.50. Statistical analysis showed that the effect of providing complete feed based on corn tumps and dragon fruit peel flour had a significant effect (P<0.05) on ADF consumption and no significant effect (P>0.05) on ADF digestibility. It can be concluded that the effect of providing complete feed based on corn tumps and dragon fruit peel flour on ADF consumption and digestibility.Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui kualitas nutrisi pakan komplit berbahan pakan limbah kulit buah naga (Hylocereus sp.) yang disubstitusi dengan tumpi jagung dengan melihat pengaruh terhadap konsumsi dan kecernaan nutrien pada ternak kambing. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAK) terdiri dari 3 perlakuan dan 4 kelompok ulangan. Perlakuan tersebut terdiri dari P1 : Pakan Komplit dengan Tumpi Jagung 50% tanpa Tepung Kulit Buah Naga, P2 : Pakan komplit dengan Tumpi Jagung 45% dan Tepung Kulit Buah Naga 5%, dan P3 : Pakan komplit dengan Tumpi Jagung 40% dan Tepung Kulit Buah Naga 10%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan rata-rata Konsumsi ADF (g/hari) tertinggi pada perlakuan P3 yaitu 64.44 gram/hari dan Kecernaan ADF (%) terendah pada perlakuan P1 yaitu 67.50. Analisis statistik menunjukkan bahwa pengaruh pemberian pakan komplit berbasis tumpi jagung dan tepung kulit buah naga pada berpengaruh nyata (P<0.05) terhadap konsumsi ADF dan tidak berpengaruh nyata (P>0.05) terhadap Kecernaan ADF. Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of using mango fruit extract as soaking on the physical and hedonic quality of manila duck meat parent stock afkir The research material used 10 manila ducks parent stock age 20 months of manila duck meat parent stock afkir taken meat on the pectoralis superficialis which is cut small with a weight of 10 grams. This study used a complete randomised design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 5 replicates where each treatment and replicate contained five pieces (slices) of duck meat. The treatment given was the length of soaking of manila duck meat parent stock afkir for 0 hours (P0), 1 hour (P1), 3 hours (P2) and 5 hours (P5). The physical quality of the meat observed were pH and cooking loss, while the hedonic quality observed were colour, taste, aroma and tenderness of the meat. Data were analysed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), if there were significant differences then further tests were carried out using Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT). The results showed that soaking meat using mango fruit extract gave a significant effect at the 99% confidence level on physical quality, namely pH and cooking shrinkage as well as hedonic quality, namely meat colour and aroma. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas penggunaan ekstrak buah mangga sebagai perendaman terhadap kualitas fisik dan hedonik daging itik manila parent stock afkir Materi penelitian menggunakan 10 ekor itik manila parent stock umur 20 bulan daging itik manila parent stock afkir yang diambil dagingnya pada bagian pectoralis superficialis yang dipotong kecil dengan berat 10 gram. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan 4 perlakuan dan 5 ulangan dimana setiap perlakuan dan ulangan terdapat lima potong (irisan) daging itik. Perlakuan yang diberikan yaitu lama perendaman terhadap daging itik manila parent stock afkir selama 0 jam (P0), 1 jam (P1), 3 jam (P2) dan 5 jam (P5). Kualitas fisik daging yang diamati yaitu pH dan susut masak (cooking loss), sedangkan kualitas hedonik yang diamati yaitu warna, rasa, aroma dan keempukan daging. Analisis data menggunakan Analisis Sidik Ragam (ANOVA), apabila terdapat perbedaan yang nyata maka dilakukan uji lanjutan menggunakan Uji Jarak Berganda Duncan (DMRT). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perendaman daging menggunakan ekstrak buah mangga memberikan pengaruh nyata pada taraf kepercayaan 99% terhadap kualitas fisik yaitu pH dan susut masak serta kualitas hedonik yaitu warna dan aroma daging.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the success rate of artificial insemination programme implementation in Gorontalo District. The method used in this research is survey method. The type of research conducted is descriptive quantitative research using secondary data and primary data to be able to describe or explain descriptively about the Artificial Insemination (IB) programme of cattle in Gorontalo Regency. The results showed that in Gorontalo District, the S/C ratio was 1.44, indicating 1-2 inseminations and then the cattle became pregnant. The number of cattle that did not show re-breeding or Non Return Rate (NRR) was 66% and the percentage of pregnancy (Conception Rate) for one time IB was 54.78%, the success rate of Artificial Insemination in Gorontalo Regency can be categorised as good.Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui tingkat keberhasilan pelaksanaan program inseminasi buatan ternak sapi di Kabupaten Gorontalo. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode survei. Jenis penelitian yang dilakukan merupakan jenis penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif dengan menggunakan data sekunder dan data primer untuk dapat menggambarkan atau menjelaskan secara deskriptif tentang program Inseminasi Buatan (IB) ternak sapi di Kabupaten Gorontalo. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa di Kabupaten Gorontalo angka S/C rasio 1.50 yang menunjukkan 1-2 kali inseminasi kemudian ternak mengalami kebuntingan. Jumlah ternak sapi yang tidak memerlihatkan birahi kembali atau Non Return Rate (NRR) adalah sebesar 66 % dan persentase kebuntingan (Conception Rate) untuk satu kali IB adalah sebesar 54.78%, Tingkat keberhasilan Inseminasi Buatan di Kabupaten Gorontalo dapat dikategorikan baik.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana penerapan bauran pemasaran pada usaha ayam petelur Barokah. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif deskriptif dimana peneliti terjun langsung di lokasi tempat usaha ayam petelur Barokah untuk mengadakan wawancara langsung ke pemilik untuk mencari tahu langsung penerapan bauran pemasaran yaitu tentang produk, harga, tempat dan promosi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa produk telur yang dihasilkan usaha ayam petelur Barokah dalam keadaan segar karena hasil telur pada hari itu diupayakan langsung habis terjual dan masalah harga jual telur selalu menyesuaikan dengan harga telur di pasaran dan untuk menarik pembeli setiap pembelian dalam jumlah besar (50 bak) akan diberikan potongan harga sebesar 2,5 % serta bisa dilakukan pembayaran cash tunda selama seminggu. Sistiem penjualan telur disamping pembeli datang langsung ke kandang juga telur diantar ke warung-warung atau kios yang membeli telur untuk dijual kembali ke konsumen. Masalah promosi telur diakukan dengan cara ditawarkan ke warung dan kios serta melalui kalangan keluarga dari mulut ke mulut. Usaha ayam petelur Barokah sudah menjalankan bauran pemasaran dalam kegiatan usahanya. Disarankan untuk melakukan penelitian lebih lanjut tentang analisa pendapatan usaha dan studi kelayakan usaha.

Abstract

Manembo-nembo Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the conservation areas for Sulawesi bear cuscus (A. ursinus) in North Sulawesi Province. As one of the endemic marsupial species of Sulawesi, the species continues to be threatened and is included in the IUCN red list. This study aims to determine the diversity of feed and feed preferences of A. ursinus. This study was conducted for approximately 1 month (October 22 - November 29, 2009), using the focal animal sampling method. The results found that A. ursinus in Manembo-nembo Wildlife Sanctuary consumed 13 spesies of feed included in 8 families, with a moderate diversity of feed H'=2.398 (1<H'<3) and a moderate richness of feed R=2.553 (2.5<R<4). A. ursinus most often consumes young leaves (56.8%), followed by leaf shoots (12%), fruit (10.4%), flowers (9.6%), and mature leaves (8.8%). Based on the preference index, 5 feed preferences were obtained by A. ursinus, namely: Dracontomelon dao (w=3.34), Garuga floribunda (w=3.23), Palaquium amboinense (w=2.93), Mangifera indica (w=2.64), and Cananga odorata (w=1.63). The existence of food preferences by A. ursinus is also supported by the results of the Chi-square (χ2) test which obtained a χ2 hit value > X2, which is 42.96 > 12.026, with Asymp. Sig. 0.000 < 0.05.Suaka Margasatwa (SM) Manembo-nembo merupakan salah satu kawasan konservasi kuskus beruang Sulawesi (A. ursinus) di Provinsi Sulawesi Utara. Sebagai salah satu spesies marsupial endemik Sulawesi, spesies ini terus mengalami ancaman dan masuk dalam daftar merah IUCN. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keanekaragaman jenis pakan dan preferensi pakan A. ursinus. Penelitian ini dilakukan selama kurang lebih 1 bulan (22 Oktober – 29 November 2009), menggunakan metode focal animal sampling. Hasil penelitian ini menemukan bahwa A. ursinus di SM Manembo-nembo mengkonsumsi 13 jenis pakan yang termasuk dalam 8 famili, dengan keanekaragaman jenis pakan yang tergolong sedang H'=2,398 (1<H'<3) dan kekayaan jenis pakan yang juga tergolong sedang R=2,553 (2,5<R<4). A. ursinus di SM Manembo-nembo paling sering mengkonsumsi daun muda (56,8%), selanjutnya diikuti oleh pucuk daun (12%), buah (10,4%), bunga (9,6%), dan daun tua (8,8%). Berdasarkan indeks preferensi, diperoleh 5 preferensi pakan tertinggi oleh A. ursinus, yaitu: Dracontomelon dao (w=3,34), Garuga floribunda (w=3,23), Palaquium amboinense (w=2,93), Mangifera indica (w=2,64), dan Cananga odorata (w=1,63). Adanya preferensi pakan oleh A. ursinus di SM Manembo-nembo juga didukung oleh hasil uji Chi-square (χ2) yang memeroleh nilai χ 2 hit > X2, yaitu 42,96 > 12,026, dengan Asymp. Sig. 0,000 < 0,05.
