Abstract

Cardiomyopathy that appears around the end of pregnancy or in the first few weeks after delivery is known as peripartum cardiomyopathy (PPCM). The pathogenesis of PPCM is unknown, however a number of factors, including viral myocarditis, an atypical resistance to pregnancy, an odd reaction to the increased hemodynamic weight of pregnancy, hormone interactions, ill health, aggravation, and apoptosis, are thought to contribute to this illness.

Abstract

At the beginning of 2020, a pandemic caused by a novel coronavirus began to have devastating effects worldwide. The etiological agent was Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) and the disease named coronavirus disease or COVID-19. Nearly 109 million people have been infected by the virus and more than 2.4 million people have died. An intense debatehas started on therapeutic possibilities for COVID-19 in pregnancy. The management of the disease is essentially driven by the symptoms. Asymptomatic or pauci-symptomatic women do not require inpatient care or medications, but simply need monitoring of respiratory function for up to two weeks for evidence of deterioration. Convalescent plasma from individuals who have recovered from COVID-19, a blood component that is not contraindicated in pregnant women and has been transfused safely for at least 30 years, deserves special consideration.

Abstract

Syphilis is an infectious disease caused by spirochete bacterium Treponema pallidum. Most of the new case of syphilis occur in men, but there is a tendency of increasing infection rate in reproductive-aged women, with the highest rates observed in 20-24 years old. Syphilis can be transmitted by sexual intercourse, blood products transfusion, or transplacental known as congenital syphilis and during delivery process as intrapartum transmission. Syphilis is a relapsing and remitting disease with early and late stages. Congenital syphilis is caused by foetal infection of Treponema pallidum, transmission mostly occurs transplacental, and it may occur at any time during gestation.
