Abstract

This study analyzes the role of the SMPN 85 Jakarta library in supporting the School Literacy Movement. The problem to be discussed in this study is the role of the school library in supporting the school literacy movement. This research aims to identify the school library's role in supporting the School Literacy Movement. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data was collected using observation, interviews, and document analysis from August to November 2022. The selection of informants was carried out using a purposive sampling technique. The results of the study show that there is a role for the school library in implementing the School Literacy Movement. The role of the school library in the school literacy movement is that of an innovator and founder. The role of an innovator is to play a role in providing innovation in school literacy movement activities. The resulting innovations are library visit schedules (habitation stage), reading corner competitions (development stage), and reading corners (learning stage). The role of the founder, namely the school library, manages the course of the School Literacy Movement activities from pre-event to post-event.

Abstract

This research discusses the implementation of information literacy in Ministry of Education and Culture Library. The aim of this research is to identify the implementation of information literacy through their program which the library held annually. This is a qualitative approach with case study method. Collection of the data is carried out through depth-interview, observation, and document analysis. Results of the research show that the implementation of information literacy which held by Ministry of Education and Culture Library, planned to support one of their mother-institution’s program called Gerakan Literasi Sekolah (GLS), also to introduce the information literacy concept to the student from elementary to the high school. The implementation program itself consists of some activities such as information literacy workshop, library tour, and an interactive game called ‘treasures hunt’. Although the program still simply packed, positive feedback came from the participant and the perceived benefits makes this program worth to be held again in the future with some improvement to make it more better.

Abstract

This article discusses information audit process in the book carrier service unit of Bank Pustaka Library. The purpose of this study was to see flow of information on the book carrier services, to identify effectiveness of work instructions for book carrier services and to identify information needs in the book carrier service unit. This research used a qualitative approach with a case study method. The data collection was conducted by interview, observation, and document analysis. The study results found that there was miscommunication between the coordinator and staff in providing work instructions, work instructions of the book carrier service were not delivered to the book carrier guard staff, the selection of collections contained in the book carrier cart was not adjusted yet to the information needs of the users in the work unit to be visited, and there was duplication related to the collections in the book carrier cart every week.

Abstract

This study analyzes the factors of organizational communication climate in fostering knowledge sharing in Daniel S. Lev library which is a special library of law and political literature. This study was examined using the dimensions of organizational communication climate that was coined by Charles W. Redding, wherein the concept there are five values; supportiveness, participation in decision making, trust and reliability, openness, and high-performance goals. This is qualitative research using the case study method. The informants of this research are the Head of the Library and all library staff. The results of this study indicate that the five values of the Redding communication climate dimension contribute to fostering knowledge sharing activities in the Daniel S. Lev library. Knowledge sharing activities that have grown include weekly meetings, reports, activity presentations, publications, mentoring, and sharing while working. The value of openness and the value of high-performance goals become the dominant values.
