Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of good corporate governance and financial performance on earnings management with financial distress as an intervening variable in Islamic Commercial Banks in Indonesia. This type of research is descriptive research with quantitative approach. The results showed that good corporate governance has no effect on earnings management. Financial performance and financial distress have a negative and significant effect on earnings management. Good corporate governance has a negative effect on financial distress. Financial performance has no effect on financial distress. Then, based on the result of path analysis through the causal step method, financial distress mediates the effect of good corporate governance on earnings management, while financial distress does not mediate the effect of financial performance on earnings management.

Abstract

Selectivity and Market Timing Ability of Mutual Fund Investment Manajer in IndonesiaThere are two aspects to examining whether mutual fund managers perform well and enable high return from mutual funds; these are selectivity and market timing ability. The purpose of this paper is to examine selectivity and market timing ability of Indonesia Mutual Funds from January 2009 to December 2016 using monthly returns. Treynor & Mazuy and Henriksson & Merton models applied to a sample size of 33 mutual funds. Both models show that the investment managers of mutual funds in Indonesia have no selectivity ability. The result also found that 11 mutual funds have positive statiscally significant market timing coefficient using Treynor & Mazuy models and 10 mutual funds  have positive statiscally significant market timing coefficient using Henriksson & Merton Models.DOI: 10.15408/ess.v8i1.6552

Abstract

This research was conducted in theethnis china non muslim customers of Islamic Banks in Palembang city. The purposes of this research are to see how big the influence Religius Stimuli and Profit Sharing towards ethnis china customer’s non muslim Islamic banks. The population of this research is all the non muslim customers who financing. This research used 120 respondents and using Purposive Sampling techniques. Problem solving performed using Structural Equation Model analysis techniques or SEM. From the results of research, the writer obtained the conclution that religius stimuly and profit sharing influenced towards ethnis china Non Muslim Customer.

Abstract

Financing risk is often associated with the risk of default. This risk refers to the potential losses faced by the bank when financing provided to debtors is stuck. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the effect of macroeconomic and bank specific factors on nonperforming financing in sharia commercial bank in Indonesia. The macroeconomic factors included; inflation and Bank Indonesia Certificates Sharia (SBIS). The Bank specific factors included; Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR), Return on Assets (ROA), Operations Expenses to Operations Income (BOPO), and Financing to Deposit Ratio (FDR). The period covered under this study was January 2011 to December 2017. Data was collected from Bank Indonesia website and Indonesia Banking Statistics. Contrary to other studies, the inflation and SBIS have not been found statistically significant with nonperforming financing. The results also show that NPF can be explained mainly by Bank specific factors. CAR, ROA, and FDR have a negative effect on NPF while BOPO has a positive effect on NPF.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between student perceptions of the integrated laboratory on learning achievement. The research method is a quantitative method, the sample of this research consists of 233 students who have used an integrated laboratory in the Islamic Banking study program using purposive sampling and using SPSS as an analytical tool. The results of this study indicate that there is a positive and significant relationship between students' perceptions of the integrated laboratory on learning achievement.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the role of CAR in mediating between FDR and NPF on probility at islamic commercial bank in Indonesia. This research uses quantitative research obtained from quarterly quartely financial reports published form the websites of each islamic commercial bank in Indonesia for the 2016-2020 period. This study used a purposive sampling tecnique obtained 6 samples were obtained form 14 banks with an observation period of 5 years. The data analysis technique uses path analysis with SPSS 21. The result of the data analysis of this study rove that FDR has no effect on CAR, NPF has a negative significant effect on CAR, FDR has no effect on probility, NPF has a negative significant effect on probility, CAR has a positve significant effect on probility, CAR is unable to mediate the effect of FDR on probility, and CAR are able to mediate the effect of NPF on probility.
