Abstract

The purpose of the study was to determine the meaningful contribution together between Christian Education (CE), family and peer association to the formation of student character. The research method conducted by the researcher is an ex post facto method, with a quantitative description system, data is obtained by distributing questionnaires. Based on the results of research calculations, the family CE tendency test (X1) of 46.6% was categorized as good, the peer association tendency test (X2) of 43.33% was categorized as good, and the tendency test of student character building (Y) 33.33% was categorized as poor. While the contribution between family CE (X₁) to character formation (Y) is 0.985, when compared with the rtable price for N = 30 at a 5% confidence level, the results obtained are calculated> rtable (0.985>0.396). While the peer association variable (X2) on character formation (Y) is 0.893, the results obtained are calculated > rtable (0.893>0.396). While the family CE variable (X1) with peer association (X2) is 0.545, the results obtained are calculated > rtable (0.545>0.361). Thus, it can be concluded that there is a meaningful and significant contribution from family CE (X₁) and peer association (X₂) to the formation of student character (Y).

Abstract

This study is motivated by the gap between the Christian Religious Education (PAK) curriculum, which promotes active, participatory, and student-centered learning, and the prevailing classroom practices that remain largely one-way and cognitively oriented. The research aims to analyze the influence of teachers’ pedagogical competence, differentiated instruction strategies, and humanistic approaches on the quality of PAK learning in Christian Theological High Schools (SMTK). A quantitative approach was used with an explanatory survey method involving 129 respondents, consisting of students from SMTKs in Jakarta and Banten. The results of multiple linear regression analysis show that all three variables simultaneously have a significant effect on learning quality (F = 125.921; p < 0.001), with a contribution of 75.1%. Partially, the humanistic approach has the most dominant influence (59.6%), followed by pedagogical competence (25.8%), while differentiated instruction was not statistically significant. These findings highlight the importance of responsive and relational teacher professionalism in PAK.

Abstract

Human beings often create social conflicts, preventing the establishment of peace, and those who incite discord are referred to as children of the devil. In general, conflicts arise due to social and cultural tensions that influence character and the impact of family environments. Matthew 5:9 emphasizes that peacemakers are not merely those who avoid conflict but also those who actively foster harmony and reconciliation. The character of a peacemaker reflects the identity of being children of God, which means having Christlikeness in the practice of peacebuilding. This study demonstrates that implementing Matthew 5:9 in Christian character education is highly relevant for shaping individuals to become agents of peace in a world full of conflict. The purpose of this research is to examine Christian character education values related to peace, such as love, forgiveness, and reconciliation, and to explore how these principles can be applied in daily life. This study employs a qualitative method. It emphasizes that the character education taught by Jesus Christ is a character-based teaching centered on His example. The findings of this study affirm that Matthew 5:9 holds strong relevance for Christian character education. The values of peace can be internalized in the lives of Christians, enabling them not only to understand the concept of peace but also to practice it in their daily lives.
