Abstract

Disability is one of a person's physical and mental conditions that can inhibit normal daily activities. One of the disabilities that can be found in disability is speech without fingers. Persons with disabilities have obstacles in communicating with people around both verbally and in writing. Communication tools to help people with disabilities without finger fingers continue to be developed, one of them is by creating a virtual keyboard using a Leap Motion sensor. The hand gestures are captured using the Leap Motion sensor so that the direction of the hand gesture in the form of pitch, yaw, and roll is obtained. The direction values are grouped into normal, right, left, up, down, and rotating gestures to control the virtual keyboard. The amount of data used for gesture recognition in this study was 5400 data consisting of 3780 training data and 1620 test data. The results of data testing conducted using the Artificial Neural Network method obtained an accuracy value of 98.82%. This study also performed a virtual keyboard performance test directly by typing 20 types of characters conducted by 15 respondents three times. The average time needed by respondents in typing is 5.45 seconds per character.

Abstract

Persons with disabilities experience physical, intellectual, mental, or sensory difficulties. One type of disability is paralysis. Paralysis is a condition where there is interference with the nerves that control body movement, causing the limbs to be unable to move. Paralyzed people will find it difficult to move without the help of others. Therefore, research was carried out by creating an intelligent room system to help persons with disabilities manage their own rooms so that they do not always have to be accompanied by a nurse. Paralyzed people can turn lights or fans on and off, and send help messages to their carers via the Telegram bot. This study used the NeuroSky Mindwave EEG headset which detects the user's brain signals with outputs in the form of attention level, relaxation level (meditation), and blink strength level. The resulting signal is processed via a PC and sent via NodeMCU to give commands in the form of turning lights and fans on or off, as well as sending messages to nurses. From this research a system was produced that could turn on the lights based on the value of Attention ≥ 70, turn on the fan based on the Meditation value ≥ 74, then the value of BlinkStrength ≥ 81 which was counted 2 times to turn off the lights, 3 times to turn off the fan, 4 times to turn off the lights and fan, and more than 4 times sending help messages

Abstract

The use of technology is fundamental in the digital era. Adjustment and transformation are essential activities to keep up with technological developments. One of the uses of technology is product marketing and promotion. Sanjai Tourism Village, located in Bukittinggi City, is one of the villages where marketing and promotion of tourism products are still carried out using conventional promotional methods such as through newspapers, radio advertisements, posters, and distribution of brochures. This method is still limited and cannot reach a broader scope. Therefore, to compete in the digital era, there needs to be a transformation of promotion and marketing of tourism products through the internet media using a website. Information about promoting and marketing tourism products can be done digitally and online using a website. The results of advertising and marketing tourism village products by utilizing the website can be spread and known to the public with a broader reach. Therefore, in the community service activities of the Unand Computer Engineering Department, the Sanjai Tourism Village website was built with a method consisting of several stages, such as coordination, surveys, design, website implementation, improvement, and submission of the website to Sanjai Tourism Village. Each stage has been carried out, and a website has been produced with features such as a homepage, profile, tourism products of various fields, news and activities, and contacts.

Abstract

Rapid technological developments, one of which is technology to build communication relationships between humans and machines using Biosignals. One of them is Electrooculography (EOG). EOG is a type of biosignals obtained from eye movement. Research related to EOG has also developed a lot, especially for virtual keyboard control. Research on virtual keyboard control based on eye gaze motion using electrooculography technology has been widely developed. Previous research mostly drew conclusions based on time consumption in typing paragraphs. However, it has not been seen based on the number of eye gaze motions made by the user. In this research, an adaptive virtual keyboard system is built, controlled using EOG signals. The adaptive virtual keyboard is designed with 7x7 dimensions and has 49 buttons, including main buttons, letters, numbers, symbols, and unused buttons. The layout of the adaptive virtual keyboard has six zones. Each zone has a different number of steps. Characters located in the same zone have the same number of steps. The adaptive feature is to rearrange the position of the character's button based on the previously used characters. In the experiments, 30 respondents controlled static and adaptive virtual keyboards with 7 paragraphs typed. Adaptive mode rearranges the position of buttons based on k-selection activities from respondents. the k numbers are 10, 30, 50, 70 and 100. Two virtual keyboard modes are evaluated based on the number of steps required to type the paragraphs. Test results show that the performance of the adaptive virtual keyboard can shorten the number of user steps compared to static mode. There are tests of the optimal system that can be reduced up to 283 number of steps and from respondents, that can reduced up to 258 number of steps or about 40% of steps. This research underscores the promise of EOG-driven adaptive virtual keyboards, signaling a notable stride in augmenting user interaction efficiency in typing experiences, heralding a promising direction for future human-machine interface advancements.

Abstract

Solar power plants (PLTS) are a source of electrical energy that will never run out and will not damage the environment. PLTS is an alternative energy source when an electricity supply has not reached an area or has no commonly used power generation source, such as gas or water. In PLTS, solar panels are devices that need to be considered to maintain the performance of solar panels on PLTS. Several things must be considered, as solar panels must be protected from dust and dirt that can block sunlight. Solar panels should also not dry themselves after being wet with water because there will be traces of water left behind. Moisture on the surface of solar cells significantly reduces cell performance due to the disruption of the absorption and refraction of sunlight. To overcome this problem, the author proposes to design a system that can monitor the absorption of power carried out by solar panels and perform maintenance on solar panels in the form of cleaning from dust and dirt automatically and helping to dry after the rain subsides on the surface of solar panels. This system is integrated with the website so that officers can monitor through the monitoring website interface. This designed system can optimize power absorption on solar panels and help officers know the results of power absorption by solar panels.

Abstract

The increasing influence of smartphones on young children has raised concerns about the delayed development of gross motor skills, particularly in early childhood. This issue is significant in Indonesia, which ranks fifth in ASEAN for birth rates, resulting in a large population of children at risk. Excessive smartphone use by children leads to decreased physical activity, potentially causing health problems such as obesity and reduced physical fitness. The objective of this study is to design and develop a portable system, called the "Mini Pump It Up," based on a mini-computer (Raspberry Pi 5), that encourages children to engage in more physical activities. This device is intended to divert children from excessive smartphone usage, thereby stimulating their gross motor skills development. Additionally, the system is designed to be used anywhere without requiring an external power source. The research concludes that the system successfully operates in portable mode without the need for a power supply, sustaining functionality for 3 hours, 10 minutes, and 15 seconds. Furthermore, the system effectively captures the interest of children, as evidenced by 84.21% of the 19 children participants choosing to interact with the product instead of engaging with smartphones.

Abstract

One of the main issues is the discrepancy between the measured and actual oil volumes of used cooking oil (UCO). Using a measurement tank as the measuring medium and an ultrasonic sensor as the tool, a system was developed to automatically measure oil volume with high accuracy. This system allows users to continuously measure oil volume using a servo motor that directs the oil into a storage tank. The system is designed to notify the company and customers via an LCD display and website when the oil measurement is completed. The system successfully measures oil volume using the ultrasonic sensor, achieving an accuracy of 96.74% during implementation.
