Abstract

Currently, nutritional problems remain a significant public health concern in Indonesia. Economic conditions and increased food consumption levels among the population have contributed to the rising prevalence of obesity. Obesity is a nutritional disorder characterized by excessive fat accumulation in the body. This condition leads to abnormal fat distribution, resulting in decreased muscle mass, quality, and strength. The development of obesity is influenced by poor lifestyle habits, genetic predisposition, and hormonal imbalances. This community service program (PkM) aimed to educate the public on strategies to reduce the risk of obesity by promoting the adoption of healthy lifestyles. The intervention specifically targeted women of reproductive age (WRA), encouraging them to improve their lifestyle practices to prevent obesity-related complications. The program was delivered through lectures, active discussions, and practical field sessions, with a total of 30 participants.During the activity, the PkM team provided health education materials, facilitated interactive question-and-answer sessions, and conducted hands-on training. As a result, there was a significant increase in both knowledge and practical skills among participants. The findings showed a 30-point (51.4%) increase in participants’ knowledge, and 97% of them expressed a strong commitment to adopting healthier behaviors. Moreover, 97% of participants reported high satisfaction with the program, citing the usefulness of the content, engaging materials, and effective delivery methods. This PkM initiative demonstrated its effectiveness in enhancing knowledge and shaping positive attitudes among women of reproductive age regarding healthy lifestyle practices to prevent obesity.

Abstract

Dysmenorrhea is a menstrual pain condition commonly experienced by adolescent girls, often interfering with daily activities both in school and social environments. The high prevalence of dysmenorrhea makes it one of the reproductive health issues that requires attention, particularly among adolescents. Management of dysmenorrhea can be carried out through pharmacological and non-pharmacological approaches. One of the non-pharmacological methods that is simple, inexpensive, and easy to apply is warm water compress therapy. The mechanism of warm compresses involves vasodilation of blood vessels, improved blood circulation, muscle relaxation, and reduction of pain perception, making it effective in alleviating dysmenorrhea symptoms. This study aimed to determine the effect of warm water compresses on the intensity of dysmenorrhea pain among adolescent girls at Nusantara Private Senior High School, Lubuk Pakam. The research design was pre-experimental using a one-group pretest–posttest approach. A total of 19 respondents were selected using purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test. The results showed a significant reduction in pain intensity after the intervention, with Z = -3.873 and p-value = 0.000 (p < 0.05). The mean pain scale decreased from 2.68 to 1.89. It can be concluded that warm water compress therapy is effective in reducing the intensity of dysmenorrhea pain among adolescent girls. These findings suggest that warm compresses may serve as a recommended non-pharmacological nursing intervention to alleviate menstrual pain in adolescents.

Abstract

Background: Patient safety in hospitals involves the participation of all health workers, especially nurses. Not only implemented by nurses, but also support from all parties involved either directly or indirectly towards the patient. Objective: This study aims to describe the implementation of patient safety culture at Wira Husada General Hospital. Research method: The research method uses qualitative descriptive. The subjects in the study consisted of main informants and triangulation informants. The main informant is 1 person from the hospital management, 5 technical implementers in the implementation of patient safety (IT 1-5). Then the triangulation informants are 3 patients (IT 6-8). Research results: Efforts made in the implementation of patient safety culture Based on Patient Identification at Wira Husada General Hospital have been running well. The implementation of a program policy will run smoothly when supported by the availability of resources, both human resources, facilities and financial resources (funds). However, on the contrary, if there is a lack of resources in a program policy, its implementation will tend to be ineffective. Conclusion: Efforts made in implementing patient safety culture Based on Effective Communication at Wira Husada General Hospital have been implemented well, the safety of High Alert drugs, based on the risk of infection, based on the risk of patient falls at Wira Husada General Hospital has been implemented well. Therefore, improvements are still needed from the Hospital to be able to optimize resources in services, especially human resources.

Abstract

The Government of Indonesia is currently undertaking a health systemtransformation through the Integration of Primary Health Care Services (ILP) to improve access, quality, and efficiency of services at the Puskesmas (community health center) level. However, the readiness for ILP implementation still faces various challenges, particularly in the working area of the Asahan District Health Office. This study aims to analyze the factors influencing the readiness for ILP implementation in three Puskesmas in Asahan Regency: Puskesmas Rawang Pasar IV, Puskesmas Meranti, and Puskesmas Binjai Serbangan. This research used a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. A total of 105 respondents were selected using a stratified random sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using chi-square tests and logistic regression. Bivariate analysis showed that human resources (p=0.016).and digital information systems (p=0.004) significantly influenced ILP readiness. Meanwhile, facilities and medical equipment (p=1.000) and stakeholder involvement (p=0.495) did not have a significant effect. Multivariate analysis revealed that the digital information system was the most dominant factor (Exp(B)=6.893), followed by human resources (Exp(B)=3.888). Human resources and digital information systems significantly influence ILP readiness. Therefore, enhancing the competence of health personnel and strengthening digital information systems are strategic priorities to support the successful implementation of ILP at the Puskesmas level.

Abstract

The Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS) is a critical component in ensuring a safe and healthy work environment, especially in healthcare service facilities such as community health centers (Puskesmas). This study aims to evaluate the implementation of OHSMS at Lima Puluh Public Health Center in Batu Bara Regency, focusing on three key components: policy establishment, planning, and implementation of OHS plans. A qualitative method with a case study approach was used, and data were collected through in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, observations, and documentation involving 10 informants from the District Health Office and the Puskesmas staff. The results show that although OHS policies have been formally established through official decrees, their implementation remains weak. Most team members were unaware of the decree, had not received OHS training, and lacked written work plans. Risk identification was informal and undocumented, and there was no systematic OHS planning document. The implementation of OHS activities was reactive and relied heavily on staff habits or personal initiatives. Out of 11 OHS standards for healthcare facilities, six had not yet been implemented, including hazard identification and risk control, application of ergonomic principles, periodic health examinations, immunization, management of facilities and infrastructure from an OHS perspective, and emergency or disaster preparedness. The study recommends strengthening management commitment, improving human resource capacity through training, and allocating specific budgets for OHS programs to optimize OHSMS implementation. The Batu Bara District Health and Family Planning Office, as the supervisor of OHSMS implementation, is expected to conduct continuous monitoring and evaluation to ensure sustainable improvement in OHS performance.
