Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the distribution system of cocoa agricultural products in Pesawaran Regency, Lampung Province, with a focus on maintaining a balance between market demand and supply. The research employs a qualitative approach using descriptive methods, involving interviews, field observations, and documentation of insights from distribution actors, cocoa farmers, and other relevant stakeholders. Findings reveal that the current distribution system largely relies on conventional practices, which tend to be inefficient and inadequate in addressing rapid market changes. Key structural issues—including limited infrastructure, low accessibility to market information, and underdeveloped distribution institutions—continue to hinder responsiveness and scalability. As a result, farmers and small-scale distributors often struggle to meet quality standards and market expectations. To address these challenges, the study underscores the need to implement a more technology-driven distribution mechanism, incorporating digital platforms and logistical innovations to streamline supply chains. Additionally, collaborative efforts among stakeholders such as cooperatives, government agencies, and private sector actors are essential to create a more adaptive and inclusive distribution system. These improvements aim not only to enhance operational efficiency but also to ensure long-term sustainability by reinforcing the local cocoa industry's resilience. Ultimately, the research recommends strategic policy support and coordinated multi-stakeholder engagement to establish a distribution framework that fosters competitiveness while preserving supply-demand equilibrium.

Abstract

This study explores the roles of intensification and extensification in the development of cocoa commodities in Pesawaran and Tanggamus districts. Intensification involves optimizing agricultural practices to increase cocoa yields per unit area, such as applying modern technologies, improving soil fertility, and adopting effective cultivation techniques. Extensification, on the other hand, focuses on expanding cocoa cultivation areas by utilizing previously unused or underutilized land. The research adopts a qualitative approach through interviews with cocoa farmers, agricultural extension agents, and relevant stakeholders. Secondary data from agricultural statistics and government reports are also analyzed to gain a broader understanding of cocoa development trends. The primary aim is to evaluate how these two strategies intensification and extensification contribute to improving productivity and farmers’ livelihoods. By comparing the outcomes in each region, the study seeks to identify best practices and challenges associated with implementing both approaches. The expected findings will offer insights into sustainable cocoa farming strategies and highlight the potential of cocoa as a key economic crop in these regions. Additionally, the study aims to generate policy recommendations for local governments to support cocoa development in a way that balances productivity, environmental sustainability, and socio-economic advancement.

Abstract

This study investigates the influence of labor and technology on the productivity of rubber plantations in Lampung Province through a qualitative research approach. Rubber plantations are a crucial sector for the local economy in Lampung; however, many plantations still face low productivity levels due to limitations in labor quality and insufficient technological adoption. Data were collected using in-depth interviews and field observations involving rubber farmers, plantation supervisors, and agricultural experts. The research findings highlight that skilled and experienced labor significantly contributes to better efficiency in the rubber tapping and processing stages. Moreover, the implementation of modern technology—such as advanced tapping tools, improved planting techniques, and automated equipment—can lead to higher yields and reduce production costs. Despite these potential benefits, access to modern technologies remains limited for smallholder farmers due to financial and knowledge barriers. Additionally, a lack of continuous training and support services hinders optimal workforce performance. To address these challenges, this study suggests increasing government and private sector support for training programs and facilitating access to affordable, appropriate technologies. Strengthening these two key factors—labor competency and technological innovation—will enhance the productivity, sustainability, and competitiveness of rubber plantations in Lampung Province, contributing to broader regional economic development

Abstract

Cassava (manihot esculenta) is one of the leading commodities in Lampung Province which has great potential to be developed as a local food source. However, its use is still dominated by conventional forms of consumption such as cassava and boiled cassava, without any further processing that can increase the added value. This study aims to analyze the optimization strategy of diversification of cassava processed products to support local food security in Lampung. The method used is a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, in-depth interviews with farmers, micro-enterprises, and Related Agencies, and documentation. The results showed that the diversification of processed products such as mocaf flour, chips, instant tiwul, and fermented products has a great opportunity to strengthen food security because it is durable, nutritious, and adaptive to market tastes. The constraints faced include the limitation of processing technology, lack of skills training, and market access that has not been optimal. Therefore, there is a need for synergy between local governments, business actors, and educational institutions in terms of food technology innovation, strengthening the capacity of business actors, and developing marketing networks. Optimizing the diversification of cassava products not only supports food security, but also contributes to the economic empowerment of rural communities in Lampung

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the optimization of the role of PKK (Family Welfare Empowerment) in increasing the economic value of rice commodities in Tulang Bawang Regency. Rice is a strategic commodity that supports the local economy; however, the majority of the harvest is still sold as unprocessed unhusked rice, which limits its added value and reduces potential income for farmers. This issue is caused by several factors, including limited access to appropriate processing technology, lack of training in product development, and insufficient market information. Through a qualitative descriptive approach based on literature review and secondary data, this research highlights the important role PKK can play in community empowerment, particularly among women farmers. PKK's involvement includes providing technical skills through training, encouraging entrepreneurship, and strengthening community-based social networks. Empowering PKK is not only essential for capacity building but also acts as a catalyst for local innovation and food processing efforts. The proposed strategies include implementing rice product processing training, enhancing product branding and promotion, establishing marketing networks, and integrating PKK programs into village development plans and local government agendas. The findings show that when PKK functions optimally, it has the potential to develop a household-based agricultural business ecosystem that improves local economic resilience, increases the added value of agricultural commodities, and strengthens food security in a sustainable and inclusive manner

Abstract

Indonesian agriculture has distinctive characteristics, namely being tradition-based, labor-intensive, and fragmented into small-scale operations. Most farmers still rely on conventional farming methods passed down through generations. Despite its abundant natural resources, Indonesia's agricultural sector continues to face various structural challenges, such as limited land ownership, low access to technology, inadequate agricultural infrastructure, and a strong dependency on weather conditions. Furthermore, agricultural modernization is often hindered by the low education level of farmers and the lack of sustainable institutional support. Nevertheless, the era of digitalization and the shift in national food policy orientation present significant opportunities for transformation in this sector. The application of smart farming technologies, mechanization, and the development of digital-based agribusiness ecosystems are potential solutions to improve productivity and farmer welfare. The transformation of Indonesian agriculture requires not only technological innovation but also a change in mindset, collaboration among stakeholders, and public policies that favor small-scale farmers. This study aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the fundamental characteristics of Indonesian agriculture, identify the structural barriers it faces, and explore opportunities for transformation toward a sustainable, inclusive, and highly competitive agricultural system. Addressing human resource development, strengthening farmer institutions, and ensuring access to financing and markets are also critical to achieving long-term agricultural resilience and food security
