Abstract

This study aims to identify and provide a description of the development of the main character in the film Gifted Hands: The Ben Carson Story by Thomas Carter based on the approach of textual literary psychology through qualitative descriptive techniques, namely listening, observing, and copy-writing. Erikson's theory of psychological development, which reviews the development of the character influenced by those who are nearby becoming the focal point of the discussion - in terms of dialogue, action-reaction, and the situation depicted in the film. The findings in this study are four stages of character development from eight stages, namely school age, adolescence, early adulthood, and adulthood, at each stage, there are two elements namely dystonic (disruptive) and syntonic (harmony).

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the various local wisdom and describe the diverse character education, which contain in local wisdom in the Sundanese society of Choblong, Cisarua village located in Bogor, West Java, Indonesia. Observation method is the best way to collect information and understand local culture in a society. The local wisdom of these Choblong villagers is believed to have a useful contribution to the values of character education that must always be taught and preserved for the benefit of subsequent regeneration. The local wisdom of the Choblong village can be penetrated to school curriculum for preparing their next generations and the cultural preservation. Although there are many adjustments required when immersion between local culture and school curriculum, but it is possible if the applications of carefully selected local culture are given in their local environmental settings.

Abstract

This research aims to find errors in using the simple present tense structure that are often made by employees when writing descriptive essays in English. The method used is descriptive qualitative with descriptive qualitative techniques. From this research, results were obtained in the form of simple present tense structure errors by employees of Bank Central Asia, Bumi Permata branch in writing descriptive essays. These errors were in the form of misformation errors, namely 54.76%, followed by omission errors at 27.00%, then error of addition at 14.28%, while the type of error that was least committed was error of misordering at 3.96%. The most common mistakes made are errors of misformation, where employees make mistakes in choosing the right vocabulary, verbs and also to be.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilaksanakan untuk orang tua di lingkungan RA Nurusssa’adah RT 007 RW 005 Tanjung Barat, Jagakarsa, Jakarta Selatan. Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah untuk memberikan sosialisasi tentang pendampingan kepada orang tua dalam upaya mendampingi anak belajar di rumah di masa pandemi Covid-19. Hasil yang diperoleh bahwa orang tua menjalankan dua peran sekaligus di rumah, yang pertama menjadi orang tua dan kedua menjadi guru; menyediakan sarana dan juga prasarana kepada anak; memberikan semangat dan motivasi kepada anak. Kesulitan yang dihadapi orang tua dalam pembelajaran daring di RA Nurusssa’adah RT 007 RW 005 Tanjung Barat, Jagakarsa, Jakarta Selatan yaitu latar belakang Pendidikan orang tua mempengaruhi tingkat kemudahan orang tua dalam mendidik anak; tingkat ekonomi orang tua mempengaruhi proses pembelajaran secara daring terutama dalam memfasilitasi pembelajaran daring anak; kesulitan membagi waktu antara anak dan pekerjaan; jumlah anggota keluarga juga mempengaruhi orang tua dalam memberikan bimbingan kepada anak dalam belajar di rumah.

Abstract

Membaca adalah cara manusia untuk mengetahui keberadaan luar, menggali ilmu pengetahuan dan sekaligus untuk meninggikan derajat bagi orang yang memiliki ilmu dengan gemar membaca dan mengamalkannya. Membaca buku bisa dilakukan dimana saja. Karena dengan gemar membaca bisa menjadikan siswa lebih kreatif dan memiliki imajinasi yang bagus untuk menyalurkan bakatnya.  Tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah untuk mengembangkan minat baca sebagai kristal pengetahuan. Pendekatan yang dilakukan yaitu dengan wawancara dan sosialisasi. Dan hasil dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini membuat para guru dan orang tua lebih memahami pentingnya mengembangkan minat baca sejak dini dan selayaknya orang tua memberikan pendampingan dan lembaga sekolah menyediakan fasilitas layanan perpustakaan dengan berbagai jenis buku bacaan.

Abstract

Tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah memberikan wawasan tambahan dalam pembelajaran kosakata Bahasa Inggris melalui penggunaan lagu berbahasa Inggris sebagai media. Langkah ini merupakan upaya guru untuk membantu peserta didik mengembangkan kosakata mereka secara maksimal. Pembelajaran yang dilakukan dengan cara menyenangkan akan membantu siswa lebih mudah memahami materi yang diajarkan oleh guru. Salah satu contohnya adalah pengenalan dan pengembangan kosakata Bahasa Inggris dengan memanfaatkan lagu sebagai media pembelajaran. Tim Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat juga memberikan pelatihan kepada guru terkait strategi pengembangan kosakata Bahasa Inggris bagi siswa. Pihak sekolah memberikan tanggapan positif dan siap menjalin kemitraan dalam program ini.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out about technological progress in the film that explains and represents technological progress in the movie Dejavu, namely the development in the scheme and story containing the Theory of Relativity previously proposed by Albert Einstein. This is in several explanations and interpretations of logic, namely the proof of the representation of space and time with electromagnetic wave tools, which are widely available in our environment, although sometimes less realized, for example, an instrument that occurs every time we travel either on foot or by using a vehicle, then the acceleration produced will also be different in space and time. That is an example of an instrument that will be explained through a film work. This research method uses a descriptive qualitative method and uses the Theory of Relativity consisting of Acceleration Relativity, Time Expansion, Lorentz Contraction, and Mass and Energy Relativity. Based on the results of this Dejavu movie research, it can explain in detail how an object can move from one place to another, with a percentage connecting the Theory of Relativity with this Dejavu movie, it is concluded that Acceleration Relativity has 8 scenes (65%), Time Expansion has 3 scenes (15%), Lorentz Contraction has 2 scenes (10%), and Mass and Energy Relativity has 1 scene (5%). Acceleration relativity is present in certain accelerations although from science there are still some things that are still under development, in addition to technological advances based on CGI (Common Gateway Interface) which is a benchmark for combining technology in a film so that the understanding that is done can be conveyed clearly and realistically.

Abstract

Anggota karang taruna RT07/01 Kelurahan Kalisari adalah para remaja yang usianya sekitar 15- 25 tahun. Mereka aktif mengadakan kegiatan seperti merayakan hari kemerdekaan Indonesia (17 Agustus) untuk menyiapkan berbagaimacam jenis kompetisi yang diikuti oleh para wanita dan anak-anak. Ketika mereka rapat, sering kali remaja karang taruna lama dalam mengambil keputusan dan belum memiliki rencana kerja untuk kegiatan selanjutnya sehingga waktu rapat berjalan lambat. Hal ini terjadi kemungkinan, mereka belum memiliki jiwa seorang pemimpin. Dengan permasalahan tersebut kami dari tim pelaksana pengabdian masyarakat ingin memberikan sosialisasi mengenai kepemimpinan visoner. Diselenggarakannya kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan  untuk berbagi ilmu dan pengalaman agar seluruh anggota karang taruna memiliki jiwa seorang pemimpin, khususnya kepemimpinan visioner yang  cepat tanggap dengan situasi dan kondisi yang akan dijalankan pada saat mereka menjadi seorang pemimpin baik berada di lingkungan rumah maupun instansi. Metode pelaksanaan yang digunakan yaitu metode ceramah dilanjut dengan sesi tanya jawab. Hasil pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat untuk remaja karang taruna RT07/01 Kelurahan Kalisari adalah berjalan lancar dan para peserta sangat antusias untuk mengikuti sosialisasi ditandai dengan mengajukan banyak pertanyaan pada saat kegiatan berlangsung dan hasil kuesioner.
