Abstract

Feedback is needed in writing since feedback informs learners about their actual state of learning performance through offering guidance on the knowledge that they seize (Narciss, 2008 and Bijami et.al, 2013). Traditionally, feedback performs the role of teacher to help students improving their writing. Since, it takes time and class size constraint into consideration and alters the writing approach from product into process; peer feedback takes an essential part in writing. This study proposes ‘Teacher and Guided Multiple Peer Reviewers in Enhancing EFL Students’ Writing as there were some researches complaining that peer review may fail to identify some of the mistakes. Therefore, I propose multiple peer reviewers that will work in each stage. The frst stage (1st reviewer) will deal with unifed, well-developed, and coherent paragraph. Next, the second stage (2nd reviewer) will deal with sentences problem and pictures use and the third stage (3rd reviewer) will concern on the pattern of paragraph. The students will obtain teacher feedback after they have seen three peer reviewers. The feedback given focus on two sides; criterion-based and reader-based feedbacks to reduce students’ anxiety since both of criteria support each other. The feedbacks clarify how well students’ work meets the criteria on scoring rubric while they also will get a sense of how well their writing achieves the intended communicative purpose to the reader.

Abstract

The four characteristics of young learners, which can be embodied in learning that is active, fun, concrete, and uses sensory experiences, should be considered to optimize vocabulary learning. Therefore, this qualitative research aims to investigate students' responses to the joyful vocabulary class by implementing flashcard games and visual worksheets. The instruments used were a Likert scale questionnaire, interviews, observation, and documentation, with 20 students in the second grade of SD Sunan Ampel Kediri acting as respondents selected using purposive sampling. The results showed positive student responses to the Joyful Vocabulary Learning Class. This approach not only encourages active participation, motivation, and fun in learning vocabulary but also enables students to remember vocabulary easily and understand its meaning due to the combination of concretizing the abstract with the sense of sight by visualizing through pictures of animals and creating an active and fun class in the form of games. In conclusion, the use of flashcard games and visual worksheets to promote a joyful vocabulary class can be used to teach English to young learners.

Abstract

The function of reservoirs is crucial for storing water, especially during the rainy season. The ongoing issue at Pogar Reservoir is the barren condition of the area and the limited knowledge among the community regarding the reservoir's role in climate control. Based on these issues, efforts are needed to raise community awareness of the importance of reservoirs through revitalization activities at Pogar Reservoir. The community service method used is the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach. This service was carried out by a team in coordination with the local government. Additionally, socialization was conducted to help the community understand the proper management of the reservoir. The revitalization program was then implemented in the areas around the reservoir by planting Petai trees and others. The results of this service were appreciated by the local government and the community, with tree planting in the reservoir area, restoring the reservoir's function as a better-maintained green area, and turning it into a potential village tourism destination that supports local economic growth and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). This revitalization also created job opportunities for the local community, and the previously barren reservoir area has become greener and better maintained.

Abstract

Generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) technology is currently receiving special attention and has numerous benefits. In the education field, this technology can help obtain information quickly to complete a thesis. This research aims to conduct GenAI Modeling based on the Technology Accepted Model (TAM) and Expected Value Theory (EVT) framework using the Partial Least Square Structural Equation Model (PLS-SEM). The research used primary data obtained from surveys. The population was all Tarbiyah faculty students who took a thesis in the Even Semester of the 2023/2024 academic year with a total of 1266. The sample in this research was 191 students who were completing their thesis and had used Gen AI technology to help complete their thesis. The sampling technique used cluster random sampling with a procedure of dividing students into 8 clusters based on the study program. The research instrument used a questionnaire consisting of 5 latent variables: Perceived Usefulness, Perceived Ease of Use, Intrinsic Motivation, Perceived Value, and Behavioral Intention to Use. The results of the analysis using the PLS-SEM method showed that Intrinsic Motivation has a significant relationship with Perceived Ease of Use, and Intrinsic Perceived Usefulness and Perceived Value have a significant relationship with Behavioral Intention to Use. These results show that students choose GenAI Technology to help complete their thesis based on its benefits, such as making it easier to prepare backgrounds, research instruments, and data analysis steps, as well as providing insight into knowledge related to the topic being researched. The research results imply the need for policies regarding the use of GenAI technology for theses so that students are wiser in using GenAI technology.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explain the storytelling method in improving language skills and at the same time instilling character values in children. Character issues in the younger generation are still often encountered both in society and through the news on social media. One solution is to include character values from an early age in kindergarten learning by applying the storytelling method. By taking inspirational stories from characters that contain good character values, children can learn both language skills and character values. The research method used was the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method. Analysis and presentation of data used a qualitative descriptive method. The data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The result of the study showed that the use of storytelling methods in early childhood to improve language and instill character values had a significant effect. The ratio of the pre-test and post-test results showed a significant improvement, it was from 61% to 96%. Character changes in a positive direction appeared such as being honest, responsible, independent, polite, and following parental orders. Furthermore, children were also motivated to learn in improving their language skills such as speaking, listening, reading, and writing which then affected the child's formal language. Thus, the use of the storytelling method in the learning process not only improved language skills but also affected the child's character because presenting true stories from human life provides a good and ideal example for children to instill good character in themselves.
