Abstract

Hypertension among adolescents is an important health issue due to the increasing number of cases at a young age and the low level of knowledge regarding its prevention, thus requiring more effective educational strategies. This study aimed to determine the improvement in adolescents’ knowledge and attitudes in preventing hypertension risk through the Emo-Demo educational media. The study employed a mixed-methods design, consisting of an exploratory study for the qualitative component and a quasi-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design for the quantitative component, involving 71 adolescents selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires and interview guides from January 2024 to June 2025 and analyzed using the Wilcoxon test. The results showed an increase in the median knowledge score from 6.00 to 13.00 and an increase in the median attitude score from 33.00 to 40.00, with a significance value of p=0.0001. These findings indicate that Emo-Demo is effective in enhancing adolescents’ understanding and attitudes toward hypertension prevention. It is concluded that Emo-Demo can serve as a powerful educational media for adolescent health promotion and is recommended to be integrated into public health center educational programs to strengthen early prevention efforts for non-communicable diseases.

Abstract

Latar belakang: Pemberian Tablet Tambah Darah (TTD) merupakan salah satu upaya pemerintah dalam menangani masalah anemia. Remaja putri di Provinsi Sumatera Barat yang sudah mendapatkan TTD di sekolah sebanyak 84,13%, sedangkan yang mengkonsumsi ? 52 butir hanya 1%. Penyebab remaja putri tidak mengkonsumsi TTD karena takut dan lupa, sehingga diperlukan teman sebaya menjadi role model dan membantu mengawasi konsumsi TTD di sekolah. Tujuan: Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui peran PIK-R dalam meningkatkan perilaku kepatuhan konsumsi TTD pada remaja putri. Metode: Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan metode eksploratif yang bertujuan untuk menggali informasi mengenai peran pusat informasi dan konseling remaja dalam meningkatkan perilaku kepatuhan konsumsi TTD pada remaja putri. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan wawancara mendalam, Focus Group Discussion dan telaah dokumen, informan dalam penelitian menggunakan teknik purposive sampling, terdiri dari 10 anggota PIK-R sebagai informan utama, 2 orang guru sebagai informan kunci, dan 4 orang siswi sebagai informan tambahan. Hasil: Pengetahuan informan sebelum pemberian edukasi oleh teman sebaya mengenai anemia yaitu kekurangan darah merah, informan belum memahami secara detail mengenai anemia, setelah dilakukannya edukasi didapatkan bahwa adanya perubahan pengetahuan kearah yang lebih baik, informan sudah mengetahui mengenai anemia. Pengetahuan remaja putri terkait TTD sebleum pemberian edukasi menyatakan bahwa TTD obat untuk penyakit anemia. Sikap remaja putri terkait TTD sebelum pemberian edukasi yaitu penting bagi penderita anemia, setelah dilakukannya edukasi melalui teman sebaya adanya perubahan sikap remaja putri yang menyatakan TTD penting unntuk mencegah anemia. Tindakan remaja putri sebelum diberikan edukasi dan pengawasan konsumsi TTD oleh teman sebaya melalui organisasi PIK-R Sebagian besar reaja putri tidak mengkonsumsi TTD, sedangkan setelah dilakukan pemberian edukasi dan pengawasan oleh anggota PIK-R ada perubahan konsumsi TTD disekolah kearah yang lebih baik. Kesimpulan: Ada perubahan pengetahuan, sikap dan tindakan siswi mengenai konsumsi TTD untuk pencegahan anemia.setelah dilakukannya pemberian edukasi melalui kelompok teman sebaya (PIK-R) dan pengawsan konsumsi TTD.

Abstract

The increase in HIV cases among adolescents in Indonesia continues to rise, with the 15–24 age group accounting for 18.2% of total cases (Ministry of Health RI, 2021). In West Sumatra, the prevalence of LGBT behavior increased by 0.45%, with Padang City recording the highest rate at 0.53%. This condition is influenced by adolescents’ lack of knowledge and limited access to accurate sexual education information. This study employed a descriptive qualitative design using in-depth interviews and observation methods. Informants were selected through purposive sampling, consisting of at-risk students (main informants), guidance and counseling teachers (key informants), and peer group members active in school organizations (supporting informants). The results of the study show that at-risk students have limitations in accessing and understanding accurate information about sexual education. They tend to obtain information from social media and experience distorted perceptions of LGBT. In contrast, non-risk students are more critical in filtering information and are open to discussions with teachers. This study resulted in the design of an educational media in the form of a “Dart Board” game as a learning tool. In conclusion, the level of health literacy among adolescents at SMPN 12 Padang is considered adequate in terms of accessing information, but remains low in understanding, evaluating, and applying the information. It is recommended that the school implement game-based educational media as a promotive intervention strategy that aligns with social and health norms.
