Abstract

Abstract

The spread of hoaxes on social media continues to occur in Indonesia because there is no gatekeeping process to maintain information reliability. Thus, the gatekeeping process is returned to social media users, who can create and disseminate the information. This study describes and classifies hoax information spread on social media using a content analysis approach with mimetic practices. This research uses a descriptive qualitative content analysis method to describe and classify hoaxes spread in Indonesia. This research uses dimensions of mimetic practice, namely content, form, and stance. This dimension is to analyze the hoax data that has been collected with documentation techniques. All hoax information to be investigated is taken from one of Tempo's fact-checking accounts, namely @tempo.cekfakta. The account has been certified by the International Network of Independent Fact-Checkers (IFCN) as well as Facebook's partner in its third-party fact-checking program in Indonesia.

Abstract

Popular media has documented an increasing interest in the phenomenon of “hate-following”. The current study explored the utility of hate-following motive, independent of hate, within the framework of dual approach of envy and schadenfreude. Undergraduate Instagram’s users (n = 560, 73.39% females; M age =21.14, SD = 2.04) were asked to recall an envy episode and filled in measures of state envy, hate-following motive, and hate, then read a schadenfreude scenario and completed measure of schadenfreude. We found that both hate-following motive and hate were positively associated with pain of envy, malicious envy, and schadenfreude, but only hate-following motive positively associated with benign envy. While the hate-followers experiences of malicious envy predicted higher schadenfreude, the presence of benign envy predicted lower schadenfreude. These findings highlight the unique contribution of hate-following motive, while at the same time open up many questions as to how this antisocial but nevertheless functional motive may be improved.

Abstract

Abstract. This study wants to address how migrant workers and their choices to work abroad have impacted its family, especially for economy and infrastructure sector. This paper explains that community development tend to adopt two approaches: micro or macro perspective. Macro perspective focuses on the people or agencies only in terms of their relationship to the large-scale structure, whilst micro-perspective places a greater emphasis on the individual level as the main focus and objective in the development programs. The objective of this research is to seize the structural issues of the migrant workers, and therefore, social mapping method is used. Social mapping is a visual method of showing the relative location of households and the distribution of different types of people (such as male, female, adult, child, landed, landless, literate, illiterate, and so on) together with the social structure and institutions of an area. This research was conducted in Sukowilangun village, near Malang, East Java, as this regency is named one of the largest migrant workers origins. Keywords: Migrant Workers, Indonesia, Social Mapping, Community Development  Abstrak.

Abstract

Indonesia’s political branding has undergone significant shifts as social media emerges as a dominant force in political communication. No longer limited to message distribution, platforms like Facebook, Twitter (X), Instagram, official websites, and TikTok have become spaces where political identities are constructed, narratives are shaped, and emotional bonds with voters are cultivated. This study analyzes five presidential election cycles (2009–2024) using Andreas Hepp’s theory of deep mediatization, which highlights how media reshape political logic and everyday communicative structures. Social media has evolved into a stage for political performance, where algorithmic visibility, affective narratives, and participatory trends are central to political appeal. Particularly on TikTok, political campaigns increasingly rely on influencers, memes, and emotional storytelling to generate virality and simulate proximity with voters.
