Abstract

Learning application is a medium that can be used to convey the content of the material involving mobile devices such as mobile phones based on Android. Learning Phenomens of Eclipse is android-based multimedia application that is created as a supplementof science instructional material in concepts of eclipses that can be accessed using a mobile device such as mobile phone. The methodology used to make this application is waterfall methodology. The purpose of making the application is the conception of conservation and science mobile learning is expected to help the students in particular and scientific community in general to get the ease of learning the concept of solar and lunar eclipses using a smartphone device without having to print using paper (paperless). The application also comes with interactive features of images, videos and quizzes. The conclusion is that mobile learning science applications of eclipse phenomenon  in conception of conservation is developed and feasible to be used to study the concept of  eclipse and support theefforts to reduce the use of paper (paperless).

Abstract

The increasing of pesticide use is in line with the increasing number of pest populations. However, the use of pesticides causes various negative impacts on the environment (soil, water, and air) such as pesticide-resistant pests, perishing of useful insects which are non-target pesticides, and the use of pesticide which can even lead to poisoning and death in humans. One of the environmentally-safe techniques to control pests is chemical, by the use soursop leaf extract. This study aims to determine the most effective concentration of soursop leaf extract (Annona muricata) in controlling leaf caterpillar (Plutella xylostella) in delima rose apples. The research was carried out in the plantation area of rose apples in tempuran village, Demak. The research method employed experimental research. The study was conducted using Completely Randomized Design. The data were obtained using probit analysis of LC50. The most effective concentration of soursop extract (Annona muricata) on leaf caterpillars’ mortality was 75 ppm. Soursop leaf extract (Annona muricata) has been proven to influence rose apples leaf caterpillars’ mortality index. The LC50 value of soursop leaf extract was 75,16 mg/L. The result showed that soursop leaf extract (Annona muricata) is effective as a biopesticide material to control leaf caterpillar pest for delima rose apples.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of Real Science Mask with QR Code on students' problem-solving skills and scientific literacy. This research is a type of experimental research that uses the Pretest Posttest Control Group Design model. The subjects of this study were students in the Integrated Science Education study program for the academic year 2020/2021 of Universitas Negeri Semarang. The sample from the population was divided into experimental class and control class. The observation instrument used an observation sheet based on the assessment indicators of students' activities during learning. Data analysis in this study used quantitative descriptive analysis, where each average value is described in each aspect of the assessment based on indicators. The results showed that the experimental class that applied the Real Science Mask with QR Code had the highest average score of Problem-Solving skills in the assessment aspect of discussing the suitability of scientific phenomena with a score of 9.4 and scientific literacy on the aspect of student assessment in seeking scientific references with a score of 8.8. The posttest results obtained a t-count value of 8,951 with df = 16, consulted with the t-table value at a significance level of 5%, and df = 16 obtained 2,120. These results indicate that the value of t-count is greater than the t-table value (8,951 > 2,120) it means that there is a significant difference between the experimental and control classes. Furthermore, the average of these two aspects of the assessment is higher when compared to the control class. These results indicate that the Real Science Mask with QR Code is effective in improving students' problem-solving skills and scientific literacy.

Abstract

The Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) is an ecohydrological model widely applied to assess water quality and watershed management. This tool also has the advantage of building watershed models even with limited monitoring data availability. The essential data required by this tool includes digital elevation models (DEM), land use maps, climate data, and soil data. Nonetheless, the availability of spatial data is still often a challenge in developing hydrological models, especially in developing countries such as Indonesia. This research will compare the accuracy of freely available data in Indonesia in facilitating the development of hydrological models from SWAT in the Rawa Pening catchment area. This research is crucial since Rawa Pening Lake is a priority lake for revitalization, so the research results will help provide suggestions regarding presenting data in SWAT modeling. This research compares SWAT models built from different land use and DEM (Digital Elevation Models) data. The land use data being compared is the result of processing from the Google Earth Engine (GEE) platform using machine learning with land use data from government agencies, namely the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, while the DEM data being compared is SRTM and DEMNAS data. The validation results using R, R2, RMSE, and NSE show that, in general, the model built from land use from GEE is the best compared to the other models. In modeling SWAT in Indonesia, we recommend using good-quality land-use data. Utilizing supervised classification through Random Forest (RF) algorithms within GEE can facilitate the acquisition of this data. To reduce computation time, the DEM can be SRTM with a small sacrifice of accuracy.
