Abstract

The purpose of this training activity is to carry out one of the Three Pillars of Higher Education, namely Community Service, fostering social awareness in the community, and fostering insight into creating a milkfish processing business for the Family Welfare Empowerment Group, North Sangata District, East Kutai Regency. The implementation of this activity consists of counseling and the practice of presto milkfish processing, as well as an analysis of micro business income. Armed with skills in processing presto milkfish is expected to be used as a micro business in order to increase family income. Milkfish presto processing was chosen as one of the micro business efforts, because this type of fish is quite abundant in East Kutai Regency. However, some people are reluctant to consume milkfish because the meat has quite a lot of fine thorns. To overcome this, presto milkfish processing can be an option for processing which is expected to increase the selling value of milkfish. The target of this community service activity is to help the community in entrepreneurship in producing presto milkfish and to be able to calculate the profits.

Abstract

This Community Service (TCS) was carried out in 4 of the 15 villages in Sangkulirang District, East Kutai Regency. The province's main potential is capture fisheries, oil palm plantations and banana production. The purpose of this TCS is to spread knowledge and skills to the community through programs carried out by student study service (SSS). The TCS was carried out for two days, starting from Sempayau Village and Kolek Village on the first day, August 1th 2023. On the second day, August 2th 2023, it was carried out in Pulau Miang Village and Maloy Village. The method used is to hold discussions with local village officials, followed by briefing the work program of the student study service participants. Counseling work programs are selected based on the potential of each area. TCS activities in the four villages that were targeted for development through student TCS, were mainly on the socialization of product processing and demonstrations on how to process it. Most of the programs in each village are processing fishery and plantation products, making organic fertilizers, and practicing good product packaging methods. This TCS activity assists student study service students in directing village communities to develop diversification of processing and packaging methods so that they become products of higher value to the community.

Abstract

In order to increase the utilization of fisheries potential, it is necessary to diversify fish processing. East Kutai is a district that has the potential to produce fisheries, especially from fishing. The catch of sea fish and freshwater fish in East Kutai Regency in 2020 was 5,294 tons. Diversifying fish processing is one means of increasing community food security. The STIPER East Kutai Marine Science Study Program plays a role in helping the government to increase food security through exhibition activities at the "food and nutrition month" event with the theme of sustainable food security organized by the East Kutai Food Security Service. This activity is carried out as a form of community service in carrying out one of the Tri Dharmas of Higher Education. Processing of tuna and shrimp nuggets as a diversified fish processing product is presented to the public. At this event, people were also distributed selebarans about how to process fish into processed products. Community Service activities carried out for four days ran smoothly. The tuna and shrimp nuggets products presented were also subjected to organoleptic testing by exhibition visitors. Exhibition activities are very effective in disseminating knowledge on campus to be disseminated to the community.

Abstract

One form of the tri dharma of higher education is community service. The purpose of the training activities for processing organic waste into compost at the Hj. Sarwati's goals are to foster a sense of sympathy and empathy as well as social care in society, to grow insight into processing organic waste into compost and to establish friendship with the orphanage children. This waste processing is motivated by the large amount of organic waste around the orphanage, so that organic waste that is not utilized can become a useful material. The activities of the orphanage children here besides studying and reciting the Koran are raising livestock and gardening, so the activity of processing organic waste into compost is very useful. This activity is carried out several days until the organic waste becomes compost. The stages of the activity include the provision of theory on how to process organic waste, waste collection and processing. After the waste treatment process is complete, the waste is left in the decomposer tub for the maturation process to become compost. The results of the compost will be used for plant fertilizer in the orphanage's garden.

Abstract

The Baung fish (Hemibagrus sp.) were used in this research were the first domesticated breed of native fish from Elo river, Magelang, Central Java. The growth pattern of Baung fish is very important to know for management and spesies conservation. The aim of this research were to analyze the size distribution, growth patterns and condition factors of Baung fish as a basis for managing fish resources. The research was conducted in September 2023 at Loka Ngrajek Magelang, Central Java. The fish samples used were the result of first generation domestication which were cultived in concrete tanks for six months. The body weight of Baung fish ranged from 66 g to 330 g. The survival rate of Baung fish from 5-7 cm to 20-35 cm were 55 ± 2.7%, while when enlargement it reached 93 ± 3.6%. Loka Ngrajek succeeded in domestication and produced the first generation with daily fish growth of 2.65 ± 0.11%. Cultivated fish have a length-weight relationship model W = 0.0104X2.9414, which showed negative allometric meaning that the increase in length was faster than the increase in weight.

Abstract

The social activities of STIPER East Kutai Marine Science lecturers as a form of Community Service activity is carrying out mangrove conservation activities in the Teluk Lingga area. Conservation is a method and effort to utilize available resources to ensure their sustainability in the future. Community service in the form of planting 6000 mangrove seedlings aims to conserve the Lingga Bay mangrove forest and ecotourism in the East Kutai coastal area. The smooth implementation of this Community Service was thanks to the collaboration of all levels of the East Kutai community with the Ministry of Forestry, the Watershed Forum, the Coastal Area Observer Forum  and regional leadership in East Kutai. The type of mangrove planted is Avicennia sp. Apart from being carried out by lecturers, this 6000 mangrove planting event was also attended by students, East Kutai High School and Vocational School students and the general public in the Teluk Lingga area. The success of mangrove conservation activities can make the Lingga Bay coastal area an ecotourism area for the East Kutai Community.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat kontaminasi bakteri E. colisebagai indikator pencemaran pada ikan kakap putih (lates calcarifer) di perairan Muara Kenyamukan Kabupaten Kutai Timur. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Juli 2015 di perairan Muara Kenyamukan Kabupaten Kutai Timur. Pengambilan sampel ikan kakap putih yang berasal dari Muara Kenyamukan dengan mengambil 3 stasiun pengamatan yaitu stasiun I terletak di perairan yang berdekatan dengan pemukiman penduduk, stasiun II terletak pada perairan muara sungai, dan stasiun III terletak pada perairan laut terbuka. Sampel ikan kakap putih dianalisis dengan mengunakan metode MPN (Most Probable Number) seri 3 tabung di Laboratorium Mikrobiologi Perairan Jurusan Budidaya Perairan Fakultas Perikanan dan Ilmu Kelautan Universitas Mulawarman. Hasil analisis sampel pada insang, daging, saluran pencernaan ikan kakap putih menunjukan bahwa pada wilayah perairan muara sungai kenyamukan jumlah kandungan bakteri E. colipada insang 56 MPN/g, daging 21 MPN/g dan pencernaan 7 MPN/g. Wilayah laut lepas jumlah bakteri E. coli pada air 2.400 MPN/100 mL, muara Kenyamukan 150 MPN/100 mL, dan di bawah Pemukiman Penduduk jumlah kandungan bakteri E. coli 40 MPN/100 mL. Hasil inokulasi menunjukan bahwa bakteri yang tumbuh pada saat isolasi merupakan bakteri E. coli. Nilai total bakteri E. colidi setiap titik pengamatan berada diatas baku mutu keamanan pangan yang dipersyaratkan oleh 7388 : 2009 dan BPOM (Badan Pengawas Obat dan Makanan) tentang batas cemaran maksimum dalam pangan sebesar 10 MPN/g pada daging segar.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengevaluasi pengaruh perendaman larva ikan nila menggunakan tiga sumber madu berbeda terhadap persentase ikan jantan. Pada penelitian ini, 30 larva ikan nila berumur 12 hari setelah menetas direndam masing-masing menggunakan madu hutan, madu ternak dan madu bakau, dengan dosis 10 mL.L-1 air selama 10 jam. Ikan dipelihara dalam kondisi yang sama selama dua bulan. Kualitas air berupa suhu dan pH dilakukan pengukuran pada saat perlakuan perendaman larva, pada saat dipelihara di akuarium dan pada saat dipelihara di kolam. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa persentase ikan jantan yang direndam dalam madu hutan, madu ternak, dan madu bakau dihasilkan persentase tertinggi pada perendaman menggunakan madu bakau, namun ketiga jenis madu tersebut menunjukkan hasil yang tidak berbeda nyata (p>0,05), tetapi semua perlakuan berbeda nyata terhadap kontrol (p<0,05). Selanjutnya, respons perendaman terhadap pertumbuhan, kelangsungan hidup dan biomassa ikan pada perlakuan madu hasilnya tidak berbeda nyata antar perlakuan dan dengan kontrol (p>0,05). Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa ketiga jenis madu mempunyai keefektifan yang sama terhadap hasil sex reversal, pertumbuhan dan kelangsungan hidup ikan nila.

Abstract

Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh perbedaan salinitas terhadap pertumbuhan benur udang windu sebagai dasar perbaikan sistem penyediaan larva udang windu ( Penaeus monodon Fabricius). Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Lengkap (RAL) dengan 5 perlakuan dan 3 ulangan terdiri dari S1 (15 ‰), S2 (20‰), S3 (25‰),S4 (30‰) dan S5 (35‰). Selama penelitian dikumpulkan data kelangsungan hidup, pertambahan panjang dan dan kualitas air. Parameter kualitas air yang diukur adalah suhu,salinitas,dan pH. Data dianalisis dengan sidik ragam dan di lanjutkan dengan uji Beda Nyata Terkecil (BNT) pada taraf 5%. Hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa salinitas yang berbeda tidak berpengaruh terhadap pertambahan panjang larva udang windu dimana dari uji (BNT) diketahui bahwa F hitung lebih kecil dari pada F tabel pada taraf 5%. Pertambahan panjang rata-rata dari tiap perlakuan yang tertinggi adalah perlakuan S3 salinitas 25‰ (74,77%) kemudian diikuti dengan perlakuan S4 salinitas 30‰ (60,07%), S2 salinitas 20‰ (44,97%), S5 salinitas 35‰ (31,97%) dan S1 salinitas 15‰ (1,78%). Dari penelitian ini diketahui bahwa perlakuan yang berbeda akan memberikan pertambahan panjang benur yang berbeda pula. Parameter tersebut masih layak untuk mendukung kehidupan larva udang windu.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di perairan Pulau Bingkar, Kecamatan Pulau Derawan, Kabupaten Berau. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh kedalaman perairan yang berbeda, terhadap laju pertumbuhan kepiting bakau yang dibudidayakan dalam Battery Cell dengan sistem Silvofishery serta untuk mengetahui apakah pemotongan capit dan kaki jalan pada bagian (merus) maupun tanpa dilakukan pemotongan mampu mempercepat laju pertumbuhan kepiting bakau. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok-Fatorial (RAK-F) dua factor, faktor A yaitu tingkat kedalaman (4 taraf : A1, A2, A3, A4) dan faktor B yaitu pemotongan capit (B2) dan tanpa pemotongan (B1) dengan dua kali ulangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pada kedalaman perairan yang berbeda menunjukkan adanya peningkatan laju pertumbuhan harian pada tiap-tiap kedalaman. Pada kedalaman 40 cm, menunjukkan hasil yang terbaik, kemudian disusul berturut-turut kedalaman 60 cm, dipermukaan dan 20 cm. Pada kedalaman 40 cm, menunjukkan hasil yang optimal serta memiliki kualitas lingkungan yang cukup baik, Hal ini dibuktikan dengan adanya pengaruh kedalaman yang signifikan (P<0.05) terhadap laju pertumbuhan kepiting bakau. Sedangkan pada perlakuan pemotongan capit menunjukkan persentase yang relatif tinggi bila dibandingkan dengan perlakuan tanpa pemotongan, namun dari kedua perlakuan tersebut tidak menunjukkan adanya pengaruh yang signifikan (P>0.05) terhadap laju pertumbuhan kepiting bakau pada kedalaman perairan yang berbeda.
