Abstract

This research aims to describe the application of code-mixing and code-switching as one of English learning methods in Politeknik eLBajo Commodus, particularly in Basic English Class. The method of this research is field observation during the time of Basic English. Several example speeches which contain code-mixing and code-switching during the class are used as the data. The data is then analyzed by the theory to find out the contexts and types of code-mixing and code-switching that happened in the Basic English Class. The result shows that code-mixing is used in some contexts, such as in welcome greeting, small talk before the class starts, to open the lecture, while giving the lecture, and interact with each other in the class. All those are outer code-mixing. As for code-switching, there are situational and metaphoris code-switching, and both in insertion and alternation. The code-switching is used when the students still use bahasa Indonesia more often. When there are students that do not understand the questions, and as a translation from bahasa Indonesia, if needed, code-switching is applied. This research shows that the code-mixing and code-switching can be used as English teaching method and the lecturer must control the use itself so that English is still being the main language in the English class.

Abstract

Memanfaatkan, memberdayakan dan mengembangkan potensi dan sumber daya yang ada perlu adanya dukungan yang kuat dan efektif. Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PkM) ini ingin melihat potensi pangan lokal dan kreativitas masyarakat dalam mengolah dan menghasilkan produk makanan berbasis sumber daya lokal yang ditujukan untuk menopang perekonomian. Program pelatihan pengembangan pangan lokal di Desa Wae Bobok oleh dosen dan mahasiswa Program Studi Diploma Tiga Perhotelan Politeknik eLBajo Commodus telah membantu masyarakat desa mengembangkan pangan lokal menjadi kuliner khas yang menarik dan bernilai tambah. Pelatihan interaktif dan praktis telah dilaksanakan untuk memberikan pengetahuan dan keterampilan yang diperlukan dalam mengembangkan pangan lokal menjadi kuliner khas. Selama kegiatan pelatihan, masyarakat belajar tentang cara memilih bahan yang baik, mengolah makanan, dan mendesain menu khas. Kegiatan pelatihan tersebut diharapkan dapat membantu masyarakat Desa Wae Bobok untuk memanfaatkan potensi pangan lokal menjadi kuliner khas yang menarik dan bernilai tambah. Hasil dari kegiatan ini juga diharapkan dapat membuka peluang kerja dan usaha baru di Desa Wae Bobok. Kegiatan pengembangan pangan lokal menjadi kuliner khas ini diharapkan dapat memperkuat ketahanan pangan dan ekonomi lokal di desa Wae Bobok. Dalam jangka panjang, pelatihan semacam ini juga dapat menjadi contoh bagi desa-desa lain dalam memanfaatkan potensi pangan lokal menjadi produk kuliner khas yang menarik dan bernilai tambah. Selain itu, pengembangan kuliner khas ini dapat menjadi daya tarik wisata yang potensial, sehingga dapat membuka peluang bagi pengembangan pariwisata berbasis kuliner khas di Desa Wae Bobok.

Abstract

Tourism has become an economic sector that contributes to the country. Labuan Bajo is currently one of the primadonna of new tourism in Indonesia where the main focus of consumers is foreign tourists. With the development of tourism like that, tourism seems to provide small benefit to the local community. Therefore, the current focus is how to build a relationship between tourism and local industry. This study analyzes the proportion of purchasing hotel products from MSMEs and also the economic opportunities available to MSMEs in the hotel industry in Labuan Bajo. The data is obtained from a survey conducted at 12 hotels to find out what opportunities have the most potential to be able to form cooperation between MSMEs and the hotel sector. From the analysis, it was found that the most potential cooperation is in the field of waste transportation, food supply, souvenirs as well as services related to maintenance and repair. This can have implications for the role of tourism to the growth of the local industry followed by an increase in the economy in the local community.
