Abstract

Marapu is the indigenous religion of community in Tarung Village and Sumba Island in general. Marapu adherents experience hegemony including state discrimination and the spread of religion by the church elite. This study aims to reveal the hegemony process experienced and the survive strategies and struggles of Marapu adherents. Data were analyzed using hegemony theory and practice with qualitative research methods. The results showed Marapu adherents experience state hegemony in the aspect of their religious legality. This condition was used by church elite to spread their religion. The people of Tarung Village accept Christian/Catholicism, but still maintain the Marapu ideology as their religion, so that the reality that occurs in the local community is the practice of religious dualism as strategy of survive and negotiation. The struggle of Marapu followers continues after the Decision of Constitutional Court Number 97/PUU-XIV/2016 by trying to obtain a determination as Marapu customary law community. Abstract

Fenomena magang di Indonesia akhir-akhir ini kian ramai sejak adanya program terobosan baru dari Kementerian Pendidikan, Kebudayaan, Riset dan Teknologi Republik Indonesia, yaitu Program Magang dan Studi Independen Bersertifikat (MSIB) yang berada di dalam naungan kurikulum MBKM. Fenomena ini tentunya menimbulkan sejumlah implikasi yang menarik untuk dikaji. Berpijak dari fenomena tersebut, penelitian ini difokuskan pada implikasi yang dirasakan ketika proses magang belangsung hingga selesai pada mahasiswa Universitas Udayana. Permasalahan tersebut dengan menjawab pertanyaan penelitian yang dapat diformulasikan sebagai berikut: Bagaimana Implikasi transmisi budaya kerja melalui program Magang Studi Independen Bersertifikat pada mahasiswa Universitas Udayana. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode penelitian etnografi. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teknik observasi, teknik wawancara dan studi kepustakaan. Data-data yang sudah dikumpulkan di lapangan kemudian dianalisis dengan teknik kualitatif yang menggunakan metode triangulasi data yaitu melalui proses reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarik kesimpulan. Permasalahan dalam penelitian dianalisis dengan menggunakan Teori Progresivisme oleh Dewey. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini, dapat diketahui bahwa mahasiswa merasakan menunjukkan adanya implikasi bagi para mahasiswa Universitas Udayana yang mengikuti program MSIB yakni internalisasi pemahaman mengenai budaya kerja dan etika kerja pada mahasiswa magang besertifikat seperti pemahaman alur recruitment, peran dan jabatan dunia kerja, dan pemahaman etika professional. Selanjutnya adanya peningkatan keterampilan mahasiswa, seperti keterampilan digital, keterampilan problem solving, manajemen waktu, hingga keterampilan personal branding, selanjutnya mahasiswa juga dapat lebih mudah menyesuaikan diri dengan kualifikasi pekerjaan, selain itu mereka dapat mengembangkan Jaringan Relasi yang Profesional.

Abstract

Masyarakat memilki peran penting dalam melestarikan warisan budaya yang diterima secara turun temurun, dalam zaman yang semakin modern ini dan munculnya budaya-budaya asing dari berbagai kalangan akan memungkinkan kebudayaan yang diwariskan dapat hilang, baik itu makna maupun cara yang sudah lama dilakukan. Salah satu warisan budaya tersebut adalah upacara ngerebeg wraspati ngepik di Desa Adat Tegal Darmasaba. Upacara ngerebeg wraspati ngepik memiliki tujuan sebagai upaya menolak marabahaya dan bencana yang sewaktu-waktu mungkin akan menimpa warga Desa Adat Tegal Darmasaba, warga desa tetap melaksanakan upacara ngerebeg wraspati ngepik ini dikarenakan kepercayaan yang mengakar yang diturunkan dari nenek-moyang. Apabila tidak dilaksanakan mereka akan terkena penyakit atau bencana. Oleh karena itu, warga Desa Adat Tegal Darmasaba pantang tidak melaksanakan upacara tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (a) mengetahui dan memahami secara mendalam mengenai upacara ngerebeg wraspati ngepik masyarakat Desa Adat Tegal Darmasaba, (b) mengetahui dan mendeskripsikan prosesi upacara ngerebeg wraspati ngepik dan mengetahui serta mendeskripsikan makna upacara ngerebeg wraspati ngepik masyarakat Desa Adat Tegal Darmasaba. Dikaji dengan teori W. Robertson Smith dan Emile Durkheim. Konsep yang digunakan sebagai acuan dalam penelitian ini adalah upacara ngerebeg wraspati ngepik, desa adat, prosesi, dan makna. Dengan demikian, penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian etnografi yang masuk dalam penelitian kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara, dan studi kepustakaan. Hasil dari penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui serangkaian prosesi yang dilakukan pada upacara ngerebeg wraspati ngepik dan makna dari upacara ngerebeg wraspati ngepik bagi masyarakat Desa Adat Tegal Darmasaba. Adapun makna dari upacara ngerebeg wraspati ngepik bagi masyarakat Desa Adat Tegal Darmasaba, yaitu memiliki makna religius, makna solidaritas sosial, dan makna pemertahanan identitas budaya lokal sehingga upacara ngerebeg wraspati ngepik ini tetap dipertahankan serta upacara ini masyarakat anggap sebagai suatu kewajiban yang harus terus dilakukan

Abstract

Knowledge of symbolic meaning urine (carving) on sa'o(traditional house) in Gurusina Traditional Village has so far only been inherited by one traditional elder, so it is vulnerable to being cut off, especially after the major fire incident in 2018. This study aims to expand access to understanding the meaningurineand the ethnomathematical values ​​contained therein, which were previously only known by one individual. The approach used was qualitative with ethnographic methods, through observation techniques, interviews, literature studies, and document analysis. The results of the study showed thaturinecontains ethnomathematic elements that are not explicitly recognized as formal mathematical practices, such as the application of basic geometric forms, geometric elements, and geometric transformations. In addition to being an aesthetic expression,urinealso represents a cultural symbol that contains messages of life, moral values, and customary norms, functioning as ancestral advice in preserving cultural heritage. Thus,urineplay an important role in shaping cultural identity, collective consciousness, and passing on traditional values ​​to the younger generation of the Gurusina community.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the dynamics of the inung tuak tradition, or the custom of drinking palm wine, among the Waerebo Indigenous Community in East Nusa Tenggara as an integral part of Manggarai ethnic culture. The research employs a qualitative approach with data collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and literature studies. The findings reveal that the inung tuak tradition holds strong social, spiritual, and symbolic functions in the community's life, both in customary rituals and everyday interactions. Furthermore, the growth of tourism has influenced the form and practice of this tradition while preserving its core cultural values. This tradition serves as a medium for intergenerational value transmission and symbolizes reverence for ancestors and a harmonious relationship with nature.

Abstract

The presence of second accounts allows users greater freedom in expressing themselves compared to their main accounts. This study aims to describe the phenomenon of second account usage on Instagram in shaping the virtual identity of female students at Udayana University. The research focuses on the virtual identity constructed by students through their Instagram accounts and is analyzed using the Communication Theory of Identity. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method, with data collected through interviews, observation, and document analysis. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the virtual identity presented is shaped by both self-perception and the evaluations of others. As a result, the main account tends to be used strategically for managing self-image, while the second account allows for more flexible and authentic self-expression.
