Abstract

Poaceae is an organism that can live and develop, generally found in tropical areas or areas with air temperature with sufficient rainfall to form grasslands. Poaceae have an important role as a barrier to erosion at the foot of the cliff. This study aims to determine the diversity of plants in the Poaceae family. The research was conducted by descriptive observation with observation techniques. The specimen collection method was roaming which was carried out in the Teletubbies Hill area, Bumiaji Village, Batu City, East Java. In collecting specimens, abiotic data were also collected as environmental parameters in the form of rainfall, number of rainy months, average daily temperature, and height above sea level to support the identification process. Based on the observation results, 6 species of the Poaceae family were found. The species found were Sporobolus indicus, Imperata cylindrical, Digitaria ciliaris, Lepetochloa, Bothriochloa ischaemum and Eragrostis unioloides.

Abstract

Scientific creativity is an essential competency that needs to be developed among students to meet the demands of the 21st century. However, science learning is often still focused on problem-solving and conceptual mastery, which may limit opportunities for students to develop their creativity optimally. Therefore, this study aimed to develop a Design Thinking-STEAM-based Student Worksheet (SW) that is feasible for facilitating students’ scientific creativity. This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE development model integrated with Design Thinking. Product feasibility was assessed through expert validation using questionnaire instruments. The qualitative data consisted of comments, suggestions, and feedback from the validators, while the quantitative data included validation scores, readability test results, and pretest-posttest scores. The SW was validated by two science teachers and its readability was tested with 30 eighth-grade students. The results showed that the SW achieved feasibility percentages of 93.05% for media validation and 92.47% for material validation, while the user readability test yielded a score of 90.29%. The validated SW was subsequently implemented with 26 seventh-grade students using a one-group pretest-posttest design. The pretest and posttest results indicated a significant difference, as evidenced by the Wilcoxon test, which yielded a significance value of less than 0.050. Overall, the developed SW was found to be feasible for use as an instructional material for teaching the water cycle and was able to facilitate students’ scientific creativity.
