Abstract

Microplastic (MP) pollution is an emerging environmental problem that threatens food security, food safety, and human health since it has been reported to be found in commercial fish consumed by humans. Bitung, North Sulawesi, is one of the biggest contributors to capture fishery production in Indonesia. However, there is no data on microplastic pollution in commercial marine fish from Bitung. Therefore, this research aimed to investigate the presence and identify the visual characteristics (color, shape, size) and the polymer type of microplastics found in the gastrointestinal tract of commercial marine fish from Bitung, North Sulawesi. The gastrointestinal tract was extracted using KOH 10%, and the microplastic was observed under a stereo microscope. A total of 753 microplastic particles were found in the gastrointestinal tract of 74 individuals (prevalence 99%), and there was a statistically significant difference in the abundance of microplastics found in the gastrointestinal tract of pelagic and demersal fish. The average number of microplastic particles found in the gastrointestinal tract of pelagic fish (12,24 ± 2,43) is higher than in demersal fish (7,38 ± 3,48). The dominant color and shape of microplastic found in the gastrointestinal tract of the fish were black and fiber, respectively. At the same time, the dominant microplastic size found in the gastrointestinal tract of demersal fish was bigger (1,001-5,000 µm, 39,4%) compared to pelagic fish (150-500 µm, 47%). The Fourier Transform Spectroscopy (FTIR) analysis result shows that microplastics of the same polymer type can be found in the gastrointestinal tract of both pelagic and demersal fish.

Abstract

Star fruit leaves are compounds that have potential as antibacterial and moisturize the skin. Star fruit leaves can be formulated into various pharmaceutical dosage forms so that added value is obtained, one of which is paper soap. Paper soap contains the active substance of star fruit leaf ethanol extract combined with avocado oil as a moisturizer. This study aims to make a paper soap formulation from star fruit leaf extract and avocado oil. Paper soap is made in F1, F2 and F3 formulas containing star fruit leaf extract with concentrations of 5%, 10% and 15% respectively. The observed parameters of paper soap preparations include organoleptis, pH, foam stability, antibacterial, irritation of rabbit eyes and skin moisture. The formula of star fruit leaf extract paper soap contains secondary metabolites of flavonoids, saponins and tannins. Paper soap parameter test results meet requirements on organoleptis, pH, foam stability, antibacterial and irritation of the rabbit's eyes. The formula of star fruit leaf extract paper soap can increase skin moisture in all formulas.   ABSTRAK Daun belimbing wuluh merupakan senyawa yang memiliki potensi sebagai antibakteri dan melembapkan kulit. Daun belimbing wuluh dapat diformulasikan menjadi berbagai bentuk sediaan farmasi sehingga diperoleh nilai tambah salah satunya paper soap. Paper soap memiliki kandungan zat aktif ekstrak etanol daun belimbing wuluh dikombinasikan dengan avocado oil sebagai moisturizer. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuat formulasi paper soap dari ekstrak daun belimbing wuluh dan avocado oil. Paper soap dibuat dalam formula F1, F2 dan F3 yang mengandung ekstrak daun belimbing wuluh berturut-turut dengan konsentrasi sebesar 5%, 10% dan 15%. Parameter yang diamati dari sediaan paper soap meliputi organoleptis, pH, stabilitas busa, antibakteri, iritasi pada mata kelinci dan kelembapan kulit. Formula paper soap ekstrak daun belimbing wuluh mengandung metabolit sekunder flavonoid, saponin dan tannin. Hasil uji parameter paper soap memenuhi persyaratan pada organoleptis, pH, stabilitas busa, antibakteri dan iritasi pada mata kelinci. Formula paper soap ekstrak daun belimbing wuluh  dapat meningkatkan kelembapan kulit pada semua formula.

Abstract

Program Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) adalah wadah pengabdian dari mahasiswa yang diharapkan dapat memberikan sumbangsih yang signifikan bagi peningkatan kualitas hidup masyarakat, baik dari segi sosial maupun lingkungan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengkaji pelaksanaan program KKN di Desa Batu Putuk dalam upaya meningkatkan kepedulian sosial serta kesadaran terhadap lingkungan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik pencatatan lapangan, wawancara, dan pengumpulan dokumen dari masyarakat desa serta mahasiswa yang mengikuti KKN. Temuan penelitian mengindikasikan bahwa kegiatan KKN, seperti sosialisasi tentang pengelolaan sampah, penanaman pohon, serta pelatihan ekonomi kreatif yang berbasis masyarakat, memberikan dampak positif bagi peningkatan kepedulian masyarakat terhadap lingkungan. Di samping itu, interaksi sosial yang dibangun oleh mahasiswa melalui kegiatan gotong royong, pembinaan UMKM, dan penguatan organisasi masyarakat berhasil meningkatkan rasa solidaritas social. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pelaksanaan program KKN di Desa Batu Putuk tidak hanya mempengaruhi peningkatan kesadaran lingkungan, melainkan juga memperkuat kohesi sosial di kalangan masyarakat setempat. Dengan kata lain, KKN berfungsi sebagai pendorong untuk perubahan sosial dan lingkungan yang berkelanjutan.
