Abstract

This article discusses the other side of the Crusades. The Crusades that occurred thousands of years ago, apart from having the impact of geopolitical changes at that time, turned out to have a significant impact on social, cultural, scientific and economic changes on European Muslims and Christians at that time. The Crusades are the longest and biggest war in the history of world civilization. Efforts to save the territory under the friction of religious doctrine between Islam and Christianity caused huge losses to both of them, both morally and materially. Although there are some advantages from the contact of two different civilizations, the two of them still cannot be avoided. The Crusade is the longest and biggest war in the history of world civilization. Efforts to save the territory under the friction of religious doctrine between Islam and Christianity caused great losses to both of them, both morally and materially. Although there are still some advantages from the contact between two different civilizations, the two of them have still been unable to avoid the enormous losses to date.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the phenomenon of religious moderation that occurs in puritan Islam, focusing on a case study of Jemaah LDII (Lembaga Dakwah Islam Indonesia) in Sambiresik Village, Gampengrejo District, Kediri Regency. Purist Islam is known for its conservative and normative interpretation of religion, but this study reveals how the LDIIcongregation applies an inclusive and tolerant approach in their religious practice. The research method used was a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and content analysis of related documents. Data were analyzed using an inductive approach to identify patterns of behavior and views that emerged from the interviewees and data sources. The results showed that the Sambiresik Village LDIIcongregation has an inclusive approach to practicing religious teachings. Despite coming from a puritanical Islamic background, they practice tolerance towards other religious groups and advocate interfaith cooperation to advance the local community. This research also reveals the important role played by religious figures in promoting this inclusive attitude. In the context of Sambiresik Village, historical factors, religious education focusing on moderate understanding, and positive social interactions were identified as key drivers of this inclusive approach. However, challenges such as negative perceptions of other puritanical religious groups and external dynamics that could affect the stability of inclusiveness remain a concern. In conclusion, this study illustrates that religious moderation can occur among puritanical Islamists such as Jemaah LDII in Sambiresik Village. This shows the potential to build faith harmony amidst differences in beliefs. This study provides deep insight into how an inclusive approach to religious practice can be adopted and sustained in communities characterized by puritanical interpretations of religion.

Abstract

Purpose – This article aims to provide a new direction for Character Education in minimizing bullying and preventing moral decadence and delinquency in adolescents in the school environment with a Prophetic Parenting approach. Design/methods/approach – This research used a qualitative method of literature type by collecting literature and data from books, scientific journal articles, yellow books, and Indonesian laws and regulations to reconstruct Character Education in Indonesia that has not been effective in responding to bullying, moral decadency, and juvenile delinquency, using the Prophetic Parenting approach. Findings – The first thing that the Prophet strongly emphasized in Character Education was a prophetic character, which includes qualities such as siddiq, amanah, tabligh, and fatimah. Second, in character building, following the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad, is important to prioritize the language of deeds rather than words alone. Third, the Prophet Muhammad’s approach taught strong moral and ethical principles. Parents can refer to verses in the Qur'an that emphasize the importance of behaving well, avoiding humility, and humiliating others. Fourth, parents should encourage children to be open about their experiences at school. Fifth, in overall efforts to overcome juvenile delinquency, the Prophetic Parenting approach can be a guide in shaping the character of adolescents with Islamic values and ethics. Research implications/limitations – The research has theoretical implications that, to minimize the occurrence of bullying, moral decency, and juvenile delinquency, it is necessary to apply parenting that refers to the concept of the Prophet SAW in building the character of Indonesian children toward a golden Indonesia in 2045. Originality/value – The research provides direction for incorporating the Prophetic Parenting approach into the Indonesian education curriculum in Indonesia to build Character Education that involves the family environment.
