Abstract

Bot Telegram as teaching media, is also used as a tool to connect the classroom to the experts and educators around the world who are interested in the use of social media in educational environments. Bot Telegram is effective to be used in teaching reading at the tenth grades of SMAN 1 Grogol Kediri. This experimental research uses post-test only control group design. Two classes are used as research subjects, they are; experimental class (N = 36) and control class (N = 36). Experimental class is taught by using Bot telegram, whereas control class which is not being taught using Bot Telegram. Writing test is used to collect the data. The result shows that the mean of experimental class is higher than the control class (86.89 > 79.89) while the analysis of independent-samples t-test reveals that the experimental group outperforms the control group in reading achievement. The results significance value (sig. 2 tailed) .000 is lower than alpha level of 5% or 0.05. Thus, it can be concluded that Bot Telegram is effective to be used in teaching reading especially in narrative text.

Abstract

Abstract:  Google Classroom is an appropriate Learning Management System (LMS) in teaching reading. Google Classroom helps students get easier in comprehending the text. This research intended to know the effectiveness of using Google Classroom to teach reading hortatory exposition text. Quantitative was chosen as the research approach, while the research design used was posttest-only control group design. This research used two classes that become an experimental class and control class. The experimental class was taught reading using Google Classroom, while the control class was taught with conventional teaching. To collect the data, post-reading comprehension tests in experimental and control classes were administered. Data were analyzed using mean scores, standard deviation, and independent-sample t-test. The findings showed that sig. the score was lower than the level of a significant 5%. It can be concluded that using Google Classroom to teach reading hortatory exposition text is effective.Abstrak: Google Classroom adalah Learning Management System (LMS) yang sesuai dalam mengajar membaca. Google Classroom membantu siswa siswi dalam memahami bacaan dengan mudah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektifitas penggunakan Google Classroom untuk mengajar membaca text hortatory exposition. Kuantitatif dipilih sebagai pendekatan penelitian sedangkan design penelitian yang digunakan adalah posttest-only control group. Penelitian ini menggunakan dua kelas yaitu kelas eksperimen dan kelas control. Kelas ekperimen diajar membaca dengan menggunakan Google Classroom sedangkan kelas control diajar menggunakan conventional teaching. Untuk mengumpulkan data, tes akhir pemahaman membaca di kelas ekperimen dan control digunakan. Data yang terkumpul dianalisis menggunakan nilai rata-rata, standar deviasi dan independent sample t-test. Dari hasil yang diperoleh menunjukkan bahwa nilai signifikansi lebih rendah dari pada taraf signifikansi 5%. Ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa menggunakan Google Classroom untuk mengajar membaca teks hortatory exposition adalah efektif.

Abstract

The Muslim personality is formed from an early age, parents as a Muslim must have a quality belief in monotheism. But it would be nice if parents also understand monotheism materials, so that parents can equip their children with knowledge that is supported by the example of monotheism so that the personality of a true Muslim is formed. The family is the first environment for the formation of the unity of the child. In writing this scientific paper, the author uses the type of research "library research" which is a study carried out to solve a problem using library materials. This study found that parents are the main element for the establishment of monotheism in the family, so that everyone is required to have good monotheism, so that they can equip their children with monotheism and materials that support it, besides that children can see their parents as role models who provide knowledge at the same time. experience, and direction. In addition, Nashih Ulwan explained that in forming a child's creed requires supervision, so that the child's condition is always monitored. Universally, Islamic principles teach parents to always supervise and control their children to be safe in this world and the hereafter.

Abstract

This study aims to (1) to find out how the application of Blended Learning at SMAN 1 Grogol in learning to read. (2) Describe the obstacles faced by students in the application of blended learning in learning to read at SMAN 1 Grogol Kediri. (3) To find out students' perceptions about the application of blended learning in learning to read at SMA Negeri 1 Grogol. The research method used is descriptive qualitative type. Qualitative research by using the approach of observation, interviews, questionnaires and documentation. The results showed that the application of Blended Learning at SMAN 1 Grogol Kediri was carried out using Rotation model. The application of Blended Learning in teaching reading at SMAN 1 Grogol Kediri uses the face-to-face lecture method. The platforms used by the English teacher at SMAN 1 Grogol Kediri during online learning are Google Classroom, WhatsApp Groups and Zoom. Students' Perceptions about the Application of Blended Learning in teaching reading at SMAN 1 Grogol Kediri most students have negative perceptions in online session.

Abstract

This study examines the user experience of the UNISKA LMS platform, implemented for blended learning at Kadiri Islamic University, utilizing the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). The descriptive qualitative research, conducted with students and lecturers from the Department of English, collected data through observation, interviews, and documentation. Results show that the platform's perceived ease of use and usefulness significantly impact its acceptance. Users generally found the LMS beneficial for organizing study materials and enhancing engagement through multimedia integration. However, initial challenges included unfamiliarity with the system and technical issues like page maintenance problems and manual quiz input. Despite these issues, the platform facilitated a smooth transition from traditional to online learning environments, underscoring its potential to support modern educational practices. Improvements in system stability and feature simplicity are recommended to enhance user satisfaction and effectiveness. The findings contribute to understanding the practical application of LMS platforms in higher education, aligning with global trends in e-learning and ICT-based education models.

Abstract

Letter writing is one of the communication form that only can be done by writing. writing skill is skill that can not be gotten by naturally, unlike speaking. White in Khoo (1981) writing is not natural talent. Due to the difficulty, CLT is one of teaching English approaches that highly recommended that has goal to develop the student’s communicative both in speaking and writing. The aim is to identify the teaching at GENTA English course in teaching business letter writing class, first, about the process of teaching, the obstacles, the factors obstacles, and the strategies to solve the obstacles. The design of this research is qualitative descriptive, the qualitative method employed for analyzing the implementation of CLT principles in teaching business letter writing at GENTA English Course. The imstruments used to collect the data are: interview guide line, observation chceklist, and documentation. The result for different finding, (1) The process which includes the preparation (syllabus, lesson plan, material, and attendance list), implementation (pre-teaching, whilst- teaching, and post-teaching), and evaluation, (2) the obstacles faced by teachers and students: some groups did not work significantly, time is sometimes over, the students are too noisy, (3) the factors caused the obstacles faced by teachers and students: the random grouping, time management, the topic is too interesting, students are enjoying the topic, and (4) the strategies to solve the obstacles: teacher may do the grouping considering the active students as the leading agent of each group, teacher should carefully plan the time management, teacher may give some limitations to the students’ participation in the classroom, and add more meetings so that the goals are achieved.

Abstract

Language is tool of human beings to communicate each other. People can express their ideas, thought, and feelings through language. One of the ways to learn language is by used song. According to Apsari (2012), by using songs the students tend to be more active in the teaching and learning process. It showed that people can learn English through song. Actually, in fact so many people do not really understand about figurative language, how to classify the type and explain the denotative meaning each figurative meaning. The research design used in this research is descriptive qualitative method. The unit analysis of research is the figurative languages, contextual, connotative, denotative meaning, and the dominant of figurative which are found in the song lyric of Bruno Mars’s songs. The researcher chose five songs in the album Doo-Woops & Hooligans. The songs were Grenade, Just the way you are, marry you, Talking to the Moon, and Count on Me. In doing analysis, the researcher used identification, classification, and analysis. The result of the analysis showed that the types of figurative language in the five songs are metaphor, repetition, paradox, symbol, hyperbole, allegory, apostrophe, simile, and synecdoche. Abstract

This research is purposed to describe teachers’ perception on writing assessment based on 2013 curriculum at MAN 2 Kediri. This research used descriptive qualitative as the approach. The subject of this research is six English teachers of MAN 2 Kediri. There are two tools that were used to get the data namely questionnaire and interview. The results of this research are (1) in attitude assessment, almost all teachers of MAN 2 Kediri arrange the instrument in the right way, but the scoring rubric was not appropriate with 2013 curriculum (2) in knowledge assessment, all teachers of MAN 2 Kediri arrange the question and scoring rubric appropriately with 2013 curriculum (3) in psychomotor assessment, teachers arrange the question in psychomotor assessment in the right way but the choosing of question is not suitable for psychomotor assessment. For the scoring, all teachers use analytic rubric, but, do not concern the criteria in the scoring rubric. (4) most of teachers do not have any problems in the writing assessment. For the suggestions, teachers should add the description in scoring rubric for attitude assessment as the same with 2013 curriculum. Next, in choosing the question/task should be appropriate with the aspect that will be assessed. The last, teachers should determine the criteria for scoring rubric in knowledge and psychomotor assessment.

Abstract

This research aims at analyzing the significant effect of: (1) the effect of internet media usage toward learning interest; (2) the effect of learning motivation toward learning interest; (3) the effect of internet media usage toward learning motivation and (4) the impact of internet media usage toward learning interest through learning motivation as a moderator variable. The method used is a quantitative approach, with questionnaire to measure the variable. The samples consist of 199 students who are taken by random sampling at the first grade of SMA Negeri 7 Kediri, it is calculated using Slovin Pattern formula. The path analysis used to analyze the data is (1) simple linear regression and (2) multiple linear regression. The result reveal that: (1) Internet media usage has positive significant effect toward learning interest about 26,3%; (2) Learning motivation has positive significant effect toward learning interest about 42,7%; (3) Internet media usage has positive significant effect toward learning motivation about 24,4% and (4) Internet media usage has an indirect impact toward learning interest through learning motivation as a moderator variable about 25,1%, while the direct impact is about 26,1%. It shows that the result of indirect impact is greater than direct impact. It is recommended that internet media usage is very well used as a new innovation in learning that is able to foster students’ learning interest, but it must be accompanied by learning motivation that encourages students to use the internet wisely and finally it has a better effect on improving students’ academic performance.

Abstract

Using Padlet as media is one of the ways to teach writing. Using Padlet as media help students make the students more excited in writing. The main purpose of the study is to examine the effectiveness of using Padlet as media on students’ writing score of the tenth grade IIS-1. Quantitative was selected as a research approach, whereas the research design used was Quasi Experimental by using posttest-only design. This research used two classes which became experimental and control class. The experimental class was taught writing by using Padlet as media, while the control class was taught without any media. To collect the data, post writing tests in experimental and control group were administered. Data were analyzed by using t-test. The findings indicated that score of the experimental class higher than the control class. Thus, it can be concluded that using Padlet as media in teaching writing is effective.
