Abstract

The development of religious fundamentalism is inseparable from the development of political globalization which focuses on the new world order. Fundamentalism is identified with religious movements that oppose all forms of development of modernism both in part and in all aspects. This research reveals how the term 'fundamentalism' is less precise in explaining various criticisms of Islamic thought expressed in political movements against others (West). As a result, the use of the term "fundamentalism" is a labeling imposed on Islamic groups that do not agree with 'westernization' which is often difficult to recognize as 'modernization'.Keywords: Islamic Fundamentalism, Language Game, Political

Abstract

This article describes al-Ghazālī’s thoughts about Sufism which became a synthesis of philosophical considered extreme tasawwuf and literal and rigid Islamic jurisprudence. This paper argued that Al-Ghazālī attempted to mediate the situation of religion among Muslims who messed up because of tasawuf deviating from the principal teachings of Islam and Islamic jurisprudence and being used by the authorities as a measure to punish the Sufis categorically without considering the truth of their teachings. In his Iḥyā ‘Ulūmudīn, al-Ghazālī leans to his biggest thoughts about Sunni’s Sufism. It teaches theology such as tawḥīd, makhāfah, maḥabbah and ma’rifah, from which the concepts of tawbah, ṣabr, tawakkal, zuḥūd and riḍa came from. This article found that al-Ghazālī’s sufism is closer to practical tasawuf , which is built upon the Qur’ān and the Ḥadīth. al-Ghazālī also wrote his personal experience in his masterpiece.Keywords: Tasawuf, Islamic Jurisprudence, al-Ghazālī

Abstract

Most of Orientalis misunderstood about Islam like they were made to touch an elephant, each described it according to the part of body his hands had touched: to one the elephant appeared like a throne, to another like a fan, or like water pipe, or like a pillar. Schimmel attempt to understands of Islam (sufism) very well used Phenomenology Approach, and the result is amazed the others orientalist and most of moeslem. Schimmel said The plurality of signs is necessary to veil the eternal One who is transcendent and yet ‘closer than the neck vein’ (QS 50:16). The signs show the way into His presence, where the believer may finally leave the images behind. Ru>mi one of Sufis who completed that understading passed way divine love.

Abstract

Islam comes when women's standing is still likened to that of objects and inferior to animals. They can be traded even inherited. Since thousands of years ago, women were placed as subordinates of men. Even from the many defences of Islamic teachings, the importance of lifting the degree of women, both in public and private spaces feels ignored, because some religious evidence (read: Qur'an and Hadith) tend to be interpreted mesoginikly. This paper is about the hadith which describes the creation of women from the ribs of men takhrij and syarah which is considered mesoginik. The hadiths chosen are those narrated by al-Bukhaari, Muslim, Ahmad Ibn Hambal and Tirmidhi in tahrij to raise the degree of hadith to a higher degree of legal force. In addition, in this paper, the author wants to explain the understanding of these hadiths in the frame of feminism. The opinions of feminists such as Amina Wadud and Rifat Hasan, it is important today to be heard as a counterweight to the religious interpretations that have tended to be mesoginic.

Abstract

In this study, the researcher seeks to see the extent of the potential for conflicts with ideological backgrounds carried out by former HTI members due to their efforts to hegemony political and religious actions in the City of Kediri. The form of research used in this research is field research. Field research is a type of research oriented to the collection of empirical data in the field. Testing the data in this study using transferability analysis. Testing this data is a modification of external validity in qualitative research. The research that has been carried out has shown that in the City of Kediri the infiltration of former HTI is not much different from the initial goal of establishing HTI, namely preaching Islam by propagating the establishment of a caliphate (pan-Islamism)internationally and the enforcement of sharia law for all mankind. The movements of former HTI members in Kediri City are indeed banned from their activities by the Government, but the fact is that their ideology is still alive in Kediri City. This received a different response from NU and Muhammadiyah in Kediri. NU City of Kediri is the most vocal organization in preventing the growth and development of HTI ideology to revive in the City of Kediri. Meanwhile, Muhammadiyah of Kediri City is more lenient in dealing with the ideology of the former HTI member. Although in essence Muhammadiyah itself agrees with the dangers of the HTI ideology.Keywords: Ex-HTI Ideology, Conflicts Potential, Nahdlatul Ulama, Muhammadiyah

Abstract

Many researchers believe that the philosophical Sufism tradition in Islam only emerged in the sixth century Hijriah. Is that right? If it is explored in more depth, it will soon be found that this is not quite right because long before that, in the Islamic tradition there were already some thoughts of Sufism that tended to lead to philosophical Sufism. Among the philosophical ideas of Sufism that were born in this early period were mahabbah, Ilahiyyah, fana', ittihad, and Hulul. Therefore, in this paper the author tries to describe the initial philosophical Sufism thought  contained in the thoughts of three Sufi figures, namely Rabi'ah al-'Adawiyyah, alBustami, and al-Hallaj. By presenting the philosophical Sufism thought that exists in their works, this article shows that the philosophical Sufism tradition in Islam has emerged long before the sixth century Hijriah, as is often believed by many circles.

Abstract

The hermeneutics built by Hasan Hanafi used four scientific foundations from Islam and the West Thougt, namely ushul fiqh, phenomenology, Marxism, and hermeneutics itself. By using these four ingridients, Hasan Hanafi built a hermeneutic theory capable of accommodating the idea of ​​liberation in Islamic revolutionary interpretation which is capable of being a normative-ideological foundation for Muslims to face all forms of repression, exploitation and injustice, both from within and without. This is applied to the study of the Qur'an among Liberal Muslims in Indonesia by interpreting the verses of the Qur'an which prohibit interfaith marriages in a hermeneutic way. Where their interpretation of the verses of the Al-Qur'an surah Al-Baqarah verse 221, is only temporal and valid in his day, because he has been transformed by the verse that came after him, namely the letter Al-Maidah verse 5, which allows different marriages to occur religion. The law that prohibits interfaith marriage because of its position as law that was born out of the ijtihad process, it is very possible if a new opinion is made, that Muslim women can marry non-Muslim men, or interfaith marriages more broadly, regardless of their religion or belief

Abstract

Based on the normative thought of Islamic fundamentalism who have textual tendencies and what they are in applying the arguments of theIslamic law, often ignoring the history of the emergence of a obligation provision, one of which is the law concerning muslimah hijab obligation.Therefore, Islamic fundamentalizm, hijab is obligated, even obligatory to cover its face and palms. Whereas for historians, the generalization of hijaborder against every muslimah is wrong because the hijab is cultural expression that owned by people outside the Arab peninsula and pre-Islam. So that hijab is historically not entitled to be claimed as a culture bornof Islamic alone.

Abstract

Pada abad pertengahan, filsafat diambil alih oleh para filosuf muslim. Di mana perkembangan filsafat Kristen tengah mengalami zaman kegelapannya. Di antara filosuf Muslim yang termashur di dunia Barat maupun dunia Islam yaitu al-Ghaza>li> dan Ibnu Rushd. Al-Ghaza>li> seorang pemikir besar Islam yang mengkritik sikap fasik para filosuf muslim yang bersifat parepatetik dan dianggapnya telah melampaui batas dalam berfilsafat. Akhirnya ia mengkritik keras ajaran-ajaran para filosuf tersebut. Ada kesan bahwa al-Ghaza>li> membunuh semangat intelektual dalam dunia filsafat Islam, hingga hadirlah Ibnu Rushd yang mencoba membangkitkan kembali semangat intelektual tersebut dengan mengkritisi pemikiran al-Ghaza>li>.
