Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Peken e-commerce program run by the Surabaya City Government, reviewed from the perspective of Maqasid Syariah popularized by Ibn Asyur and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) outlined by the United Nations (UN). Peken is a digital economic innovation designed to empower local MSMEs, increase their competitiveness in the digital market, and support sustainable economic development. This study uses a qualitative method with a literature study approach to explore the relevance and suitability of Peken policies with the principles of Maqasid Syariah and SDGs. Based on the perspective of Maqasid Syariah, the Peken program is in line with the maintenance of wealth (hifzh al-mal), life (hifzh an-nafs), and public welfare (al-maslahah al-‘ammah). This program not only provides wider economic access for MSMEs, but also creates economic and social stability for the lower classes in Surabaya. From the SDGs perspective, “Peken” supports no poverty (SDG 1), decent work and economic growth (SDG 8), and reduced inequality (SDG 10). The results of the study show that the implementation of Peken supports both sharia and global development goals by providing an inclusive and sustainable platform for MSMEs, strengthening local economic growth, and providing broad social benefits. This study emphasizes the importance of integrating digital economic policies with ethical values and sustainable development to achieve overall community welfare

Abstract

This study examines how Muhammadiyah, one of Indonesia’s largest Islamic organizations, utilizes its official website as a medium of digital da’wah and educational communication, with a particular focus on the portrayal of teachers as moral and intellectual agents. Using a qualitative content analysis of selected articles published on muhammadiyah.or.id, the research explores how religious narratives are integrated into discourses of pedagogy, professionalism, and moral ethics. Drawing upon Gary R. Bunt’s theory of the Cyber Islamic Environment (CIE) and Everett Rogers’ Diffusion of Innovation, the study situates Muhammadiyah’s online activities within the broader framework of technological mediation and religious reform (tajdid). Findings reveal that the website functions not only as an informational platform but also as a transformative arena of moral communication, where teachers are depicted as digital missionaries embodying Islamic values through educational praxis. The research underscores that Muhammadiyah’s digital da’wah represents a shift from one-way religious dissemination to participatory moral education, fostering the emergence of ethical digital citizenship in contemporary Islamic education.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has influenced children’s learning patterns and information consumption, including within non-formal religious education settings such as Taman Pendidikan Al-Qur’an (TPQ). Although digital media have the potential to serve as educational tools, risks such as exposure to inappropriate content, excessive gadget use, and declining learning focus necessitate structured and targeted mentoring. This community service activity aims to enhance TPQ students’ media literacy and to strengthen teachers’ capacity to utilize media as educational resources through an Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach. The program was implemented at TPQ Baitul Halim Babatan Wiyung, Surabaya, involving approximately 30 students and three teachers. The stages of the activity included community asset mapping (discovery), formulation of shared aspirations (dream), design of mentoring modules and training programs (design), implementation of media literacy education for students and technical guidance for teachers (define/destiny), and program evaluation through reflective activities (reflection). The results indicate an improvement in students’ understanding of ethical media use, their ability to identify educational and safe content, and the emergence of basic critical attitudes toward digital information. TPQ teachers (Ustadz and Ustadzah) also demonstrated enhanced competence in selecting and integrating educational media into the learning process. This program contributes to the establishment of a positive, character-based media literacy culture grounded in Islamic values within the TPQ environment and has the potential to be developed as a sustainable mentoring model in non-formal education.
