Abstract

Sesaot River is a river located in Narmada, West Lombok. The Sesaot River has been widely used by the surrounding community for their agricultural, plantation and daily activities. The high activity of the people around the river causes a decrease in the quality of river water. Macrozoobenthos is a bioindicator that can be used to describe a water's air quality. The purpose of this research is to examine the water quality of the Sesaot River utilizing macrozoobenthos as a bioindicator. The study was carried out at three different locations along the Sesaot River: upstream, middle, and downstream. At each observation site, macrozoobenthos ecological study and measurements of river water physical and chemical parameters were performed. According to observations, the pH, DO, and TDS of river water remain within the range of acceptable environmental quality standards. The macrozoobenthos found in the Sesaot Narmada river consist of 3 classes, 8 families and 8 species. Gastropoda, Mollusca, and Insecta are the third class discovered. The macrozoobenthic diversity index values discovered ranged from 0.8 to 1.35. Based on these findings, the macrozoobenthos diversity at the three locations is low. The uniformity index values obtained at the three stations ranged from 0.03 to 0.07, indicating that the distribution of individuals was unequal and unbalanced. At the three stations, the dominance index ranged from 0.27 to 0.55. Based on the findings, it is possible to conclude that the water quality of the Sesaot Narmada river is moderately to badly polluted.

Abstract

Different intensity of transportation in Suranadi Natural Park and Green Open Space of Udayana effected in air quality. Decreasing of the air quality will have a serious impact on the enviroment, human health and the economy. Moss can accumulate pollutants and is sensitive to air quality degradation. it can be used as a bioindicator. The aim of the research was to determine the diversity index, abundance index of mosses and analyze air quality in the TWA Suranadi and RTH of Udayana. The research method uses quadrant 10 x 10 m whic is placed by purposive sampling. The diversity index (H′) in TWA Suranadi is low category (H′=1.4) with 5 species founded. Species with a high abundance index were Andreae sp. (45.45%), Brachythecium rutabulum (18.18%) and Taxiphyllum sp. (18.18%), while Lejeunea laetevirens (9.09%) and Hypnum cupressiforme (9.09%) are low category. The index diversity in Udayana RTH is low category (H′=1.2) with 4 species founded. Species with a high abundance index were Octoblepharum albidum (44.44%), Dicranoweisia crispula (22.22%) and Lopholejeunea sp (22.22%), while Barbula sp (11.11%) was moderate category. The moss diversity index in TWA Suranadi is higher than in Udayana RTH. Air quality in both areas is still below the threshold. Air quality affects the diversity index. Periodic monitoring of air quality needs to determine the effectiveness of mosses in absorbing pollutants.

Abstract

Abstract: Plastic waste is an environmental problem that is still unresolved. To date, only a small percentage of plastic waste is recycled. As one of problem-solving scenario, Ecomoney Enterprise shared practical information and knowledge related to the processing of used plastics by holding an 'Ecobricking Workshop. Through this workshop, it is expected to provide information and knowledge related to the processing of plastic waste into ecobricks and the community can apply it in their daily lives. The method of implementing this workshop is online by collaborating with Sanggar Hijau Indonesia. The director of Sanggar Hijau Indonesia as a resource person introduced the community to ecobricks and how to make good and correct ecobricks. This workshop generated participants with the knowledge to understand the dangers of plastic waste in the environment, and how to process it into ecobricks properly. The enthusiasm and activeness of the participants were shown by the active questions and answers process and discussion during the workshop. With the results obtained from this workshop, it is expected to be able to provide provisions for the community to care about the condition of the earth and the environment.

Abstract

Environmental problems, especially waste, are still an issue that has not been resolved to date. Apart from household activities, tourist activities are also a source of waste generation. Sekotong is an area in West Lomob that is starting to develop mangrove ecotourism, one of which is Bagek Kembar mangrove ecotourism. Waste management in the Bagek Kembar mangrove ecotourism area is still not available. Garbage is only collected and some is not processed and burned. This can be caused by the lack of information and learning from managers and local communities regarding the importance of waste management. One approach to overcoming this problem is by conducting waste management outreach and training to the community. The community must be involved in planning and operating waste management activities. This community service activity consists of three stages, namely the preparation stage by conducting a location survey, the second stage by holding outreach with the aim of socializing the management and processing of waste into environmentally friendly products and the final stage is evaluating the activity by assessing the effectiveness and level of community participation in waste processing. . The method used is participatory discussion and Focus Group Discussion (FGD) combined with direct practice of processing organic waste into Eco-Enzyme and Eco-Enzyme liquid soap. The activity went well and smoothly, where the community was enthusiastic during the activity with many people asking questions and actively participating during the making of Eco-Enzyme liquid soap. It is hoped that the results of this activity will increase public awareness of waste problems and public knowledge in processing the waste produced at both household and community levels. So, the community can start and take an active role in processing waste and reducing waste thrown into the environment.
