Abstract

The Gospel is a good news that should be accepted by everyone. However, the Javanese in Bades Village, East Java, need to be reached with the preaching of the Bible, in view of the minimal number of believers in the local village. However, to reach this village, it is necessary to make an effort so that the Gospel conveyed can be accepted by local residents, namely through the contextualization of the slametan culture which is a Javanese culture that is already inherent in people's lives which is entrusted as anticipation for safety and unwanted disturbances that refers to a peaceful life. The purpose of this research is to find out the form of contextualization of the preaching of the Bible on slametan culture that can be done to reach people from the village of Bades Lumajang, East Java. The method used in this writing is a descriptive qualitative research method with an approach to library data, interviews, book literature and also several articles that are relevant to the research being conducted. This research conveys that in order to preach the gospel to people in Bades Village, East Java, this must be adjusted using the accommodation and adaptation contextualization model which is an act of respecting local culture, being able to express and translate the Bible through slametan culture, so that the people of East Java Those in Bades Village have true knowledge about God and accept Christ as God and eternal savior. Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh tantangan yang dihadapi mahasiswa Kristen di era digital, khususnya dalam mempertahankan iman, karakter, dan identitas rohani di tengah perkembangan teknologi yang pesat serta lemahnya relasi pribadi dengan Kristus berpotensi memengaruhi pertumbuhan rohani dan pembentukan karakter mahasiswa. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menjelaskan makna keselamatan dalam Kristus, mendorong pertumbuhan rohani yang berkelanjutan, serta mengkaji transformasi karakter sebagai buah dari keselamatan. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan tiga tahapan yaitu observasi, pembinaan dan evaluasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemahaman keselamatan yang benar mampu meningkatkan kesadaran identitas diri dalam Kristus, memperkuat kehidupan rohani, serta mendorong perubahan sikap dan perilaku yang mencerminkan nilai-nilai Kristiani. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa pembinaan iman berbasis keselamatan dalam Kristus berperan penting dalam membentuk karakter mahasiswa yang berintegritas, bertanggung jawab, dan siap menjadi saksi Kristus di tengah masyarakat digital.

Abstract

The marginalization of People with Mental Health Disorders (Orang Dengan Gangguan Jiwa, ODGJ) in Indonesia unfolds within a paradoxical space, in which faith communities theologically called to be sites of restoration frequently reproduce stigma through spiritual and moral attributions of psychic suffering. The realities of pasung (shackling), structural poverty, and the limited provision of mental health services deepen such exclusion, while theological education in Indonesia has not yet fully addressed the disjunction between academic space and vulnerable bodies. This article offers a reflection on a community service program conducted by the Undergraduate Theology Program of STT Real Batam at Rumah Singgah Talitakum Cahaya Batam, with residents undergoing rehabilitation for mental health disorders as its target participants. The program was carried out through a participatory approach integrating pastoral accompaniment, spiritual education grounded in John 14:27, communal prayer, distribution of basic food supplies, and relational interaction. The impact analysis is constructed upon the integration of four theoretical frameworks, namely spiritual well-being, pastoral care, diakonia as reciprocal service, and missio Dei as participation in the work of God. The findings indicate that pastoral presence contributes to the existential well-being of participants, strengthens the social capital of the shelter, and forms ethical sensitivity and ministerial competence among theology students. Furthermore, the program demonstrates that ministry to ODGJ can be read as a locus theologicus that contests the charitable paradigm and shifts ministry toward diaconal resonance. The contribution of this article lies in proposing a model of contextual theological engagement that integrates psychosocial rehabilitation, student formation, and the church's mission for marginal communities.
