Abstract

The antibacterial activity of ethanol extract 96% of Moringa leaf (Moringa oleifera L) was carried out on againts Escherichia coli bacteria. This study aims to determine the antibacterial activity of Moringa Oleifera L extract against test bacteria. Antibacterial activity of the extract was tested by agar diffusion method. Furthermore extract solution with a concentration of ethanol moringa leaf extract (Moringa Oleifera L) at a concentration of 6%, 8%, 10%. From the test of antibacterial activity, it is known that the ethanol extract 96% of Moringa leaf (Moringa Oleifera L) can kill the test bacteria with a concentration of 10% has an average inhibition of 18.83 mm which is included in the strong category. Concentration of 8% has an average inhibition of 10.33mm which is included in the strong category and for a concentration of 6% has an average inhibition zone of 7.83mm which is included in the medium category.

Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium Tuberculosis and is still a significant global health challenge, especially in Indonesia which ranks second in the world in terms of Tuberculosis (TB) caseload. Cimahi city, as a densely populated urban area, has high risk of transmission due to limited population mobility and air quality. The main clinical symptom that is often ignored is a persistent cough for two weeks or more, which should be an importants indicator for immediate laboratory identification to pevent further transmission. This study aims to identify the presence of Mycobacterium Tuberculosis in outpatients with complaints of persistent cough at the Yudisman Cimahi Clinic and evaluate the effectiveness of treatment. The research method used was retrospective descriptive by analyzing the medical record of 30 patients in the period March-June 2025 who has completed 6 months of treatment. The results showed that Tuberculosis (TB) infection was dominated by men (56,7%) and the productive adult age group 26-45 years (46,7%). The high number in this group is associated with lifestyle factors such as smoking and the intensity of air contact in public spaces. The diagnosis is made using a dual method, namely the Rapid Molecular Test (TCM) which has high sensitivity in detecting bacterial DNA fragments, as well as microscopic examination of acid-fast bacteria (BTA) to confirm the patient’s potential for transmission. All research samples received pharmacotherapy intervention using fixed doses of Anti-Tuberculosis Drugs (OAT) through two phases of treatment, namely an intensive phase for 2 months and a continuation phase for 4 months. The final results of the treatment showed an excellent success rate with 70% of oatients desclared “Cure” and 30% of patients declared “Complete Treatment”. This success proves rhe effectiveness and vital role of Drug Ingestion Monitors (PMO) in preventing the occurrence of drug resistance or MDR-TB.

Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) remains an infectious disease that requires long-term and standardized treatment to achieve therapeutic success. Appropriate use of antituberculosis drugs and regular monitoring are important components of the TB control program. This study aimed to describe the characteristics of TB patients, treatment phases, antituberculosis drug regimens, and additional medications administered to patients at the outpatient installation of Pindad General Hospital, Bandung. This study used a descriptive observational design with a retrospective approach. Data were obtained from secondary data consisting of TB patient prescriptions and treatment records recorded in the Tuberculosis Information System (SITB) during March–April 2026. The study population consisted of 30 TB patients, and total sampling was used. Data were analyzed descriptively using frequencies and percentages. Of the 30 patients, 19 (63.3%) were male and 11 (36.7%) were female. The largest age group was 0–10 years, comprising 14 patients (46.7%). Based on treatment phase, 10 patients (33.3%) were in the initial intensive phase and 20 patients (66.7%) were in the continuation phase. Antituberculosis therapy was administered using Fixed-Dose Combination (FDC) regimens, including 4FDC for adults and 3FDC for children during the intensive phase, and 2FDC during the continuation phase. Additional medications included Vitamin B6, multivitamins, Curcuma preparations, and other supportive medications. All patients (100%) were still undergoing treatment, so treatment outcomes had not been completed. TB patients at Pindad General Hospital were predominantly male and aged 0–10 years. Most patients were in the continuation phase and received FDC antituberculosis therapy. Regular prescription screening and treatment monitoring are needed to support the appropriate implementation of the TB treatment program..
