Abstract

Indonesia and the world community are currently still busy with the outbreak of the corona virus pandemic (Covid-19). The increase in the number of cases and the impact of the pandemic felt by all levels of society including the family as the smallest unit. The presence of Covid-19 is a stressor for the community which can have an impact on mental and psychosocial health. Depression and anxiety about an illness cause strong emotional disturbances in both adults and children. Nurses' support for families in providing education and increasing mental health and psychosocial resilience is a priority during the current pandemic. PSKDJI data on mental health during the Covid-19 pandemic recorded 66% depression, 63% experiencing anxiety from 1,552 respondents. The purpose of this activity is to increase knowledge and ability to overcome psychosocial problems for families during a pandemic. The activities carried out are providing education accompanied by relaxation exercises. The participants' speed decreased from 9 (30%) to 2 (7%) after education and relaxation exercises.

Abstract

Gout Arthritis is an acid formed due to purine metabolism in the body. Purine comes from foods containing protein. To maintain uric acid levels within the normal range, individuals must improve compliance with a low-purine diet supported by Health Education. The purpose of this study was to determine how nursing care is provided to gout arthritis patients with low-purine diet non-compliance. The research design was descriptive qualitative with a case study approach. Nursing interventions focused on diet education using leaflet media which showed a significant increase in the level of patient diet compliance, namely the compliance score increased from 2 (non-compliant) to 10 (compliant) within 7 days and resulted in a decrease in uric acid levels from 8.9 mg/dl to 5 mg/dl. The provision of this research education confirms that structured health education and appropriate educational media can improve diet compliance and health outcomes in gout arthritis patients.

Abstract

Integrated community-based screening for Tuberculosis (TB) and Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is an essential strategy to enhance early detection of communicable and non-communicable diseases. This community engagement activity was conducted in July 2024 in Kadipaten Village, Ponorogo, using four screening approaches: village hall service, Posbindu, elderly health screening, and door-to-door. A total of 265 participants underwent TB screening and 166 underwent DM screening. Results showed 16 suspected TB cases (6%) and 15 individuals (9%) with elevated blood glucose, including four new DM cases (2.4%). The door-to-door method yielded the highest detection in both TB and DM screenings. The findings support existing evidence that active case finding improves detection coverage among at-risk populations. This integrated screening emphasizes the need for structured referral pathways, community health education, cross-program collaboration, and integrated health information systems to ensure sustainable TB–DM detection programs.
