Abstract

This study aims to develop an excellent educational management model based on Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) in senior high schools of South Tangerang City. RPL is an approach that recognizes students’ prior knowledge, skills, and experiences acquired through formal, non-formal, and informal learning. In the context of secondary education, the integration of RPL into educational management is essential to enhance learning quality, promote student-centered approaches, and support lifelong learning principles. This research employed a Research and Development (R&D) design, involving needs analysis, model design, expert validation, and limited field testing. The participants included school principals, teachers, and students from selected senior high schools in South Tangerang City. Data were collected through interviews, observations, document analysis, and questionnaires. The data were analyzed using qualitative descriptive techniques and supported by quantitative data from validation and trial results. The findings indicate that the developed model consists of key components, including strategic planning, RPL-based assessment and validation, adaptive curriculum management, teacher capacity building, and continuous monitoring and evaluation. The model demonstrates a high level of validity, practicality, and effectiveness in improving student learning outcomes, enhancing recognition of prior competencies, and increasing the flexibility of learning processes. In conclusion, the proposed RPL-based educational management model provides an innovative and effective framework for improving the quality of education in senior high schools. It also contributes to the development of an inclusive and adaptive education system that supports lifelong learning in the modern era.

Abstract

The role of teachers as curriculum developers has become increasingly important in the implementation of competency-based education and the Merdeka Curriculum. However, teachers’ participation in curriculum development continues to face several challenges, including limited reflective practice, insufficient professional training, and heavy administrative workloads. This study aims to analyse the role of teachers as curriculum developers through Classroom Action Research (CAR) in enhancing learning innovation at SMA Fatahillah Ciledug. The research employed a qualitative approach using a descriptive case study design. Participants included subject teachers, the vice principal for curriculum affairs, and the school principal, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis, while data analysis followed the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that teachers play a significant role as curriculum developers by adapting learning instruments, developing teaching modules, integrating digital media, and implementing innovative learning strategies based on reflective practice. Teachers actively involved in CAR demonstrated greater innovation in applying project-based, collaborative, and contextual learning approaches. CAR also contributed to improving teachers’ professional competence, reflective skills, and involvement in curriculum development. In addition, collaborative CAR supported interdisciplinary learning integration and strengthened the school’s culture of innovation. Nevertheless, the implementation of CAR still faces several obstacles, such as limited time, administrative burdens, and insufficient institutional support. Therefore, schools need to provide more systematic support by strengthening reflective and collaborative cultures alongside continuous professional development.

Abstract

Although Bekasi is not classified as an area with high earthquake frequency, it remains vulnerable to the impacts of fault shifts and regional seismic activity. Low awareness and limited knowledge among the community particularly students regarding earthquake emergency response procedures can increase the risk of casualties and losses when disasters occur. This community service program aimed to enhance the preparedness of students and teachers through school-based earthquake emergency response education. The implementation methods included disaster awareness sessions, evacuation procedure training, emergency response simulations, and the establishment of evacuation routes within school environments. The program was conducted in several primary and secondary schools in the Bekasi area, involving school stakeholders, the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), and disaster relief volunteers. The results showed an 85% improvement in students’ understanding of self-rescue steps, along with the formation of school disaster response teams capable of executing evacuation procedures. This initiative is expected to serve as a sustainable education model that can be adopted by other schools in Bekasi to minimize the impact of future earthquakes.

The literacy and environmental education program was implemented through activities such as reading and discussing environmental literature, school clean-up actions, waste management, tree planting, and energy-saving campaigns. The results indicate that the program successfully fostered students’ awareness of the importance of cleanliness, ecosystem preservation, empathy, and social care within both the school and the surrounding community.
