Abstract

Peking duck is one of the superior ducks that breeders are interested in keeping. Maintaining broiler ducks often occurs with several obstacles including mortality, high feed conversion and target body weight couldn’t achieve. The use of probiotics generally gives a positive response on livestock performance. This study aims to determine the performance of local Peking ducks with the addition of commercial probiotics (Probac) with different levels. The study used an experimental method with a completely randomized design with 4 treatments and 5 replications. Experimental level with P0 (without probiotics), P1 (1g/kg feed probiotics), P2 (2g/kg feed probiotics), P3 (3kg/kg feed probiotics) The variables observed were body weight, feed conversion and mortality. The best results showed that the use of a commercial probiotic (Probac) with a P2 level (2g/kg feed) had an effect on body weight, but had no effect on feed conversion and mortality in local Peking ducks. It is recommended to use a commercial probiotic (Probac) at a dose of 2g/kg of feed to increase the performance of local Peking ducks

Abstract

The objective of this study is to describe the correlation between age and sex in relation to the carcass weight of Simental-PO cattle that are slaughtered at the slaughterhouse (RPH) in the Sekorejo District of Blitar City, located in East Java. The investigation was conducted in July of 2023. The study utilized 20 male and 10 female Simental-PO cattle that were slaughtered at the Sukorejo District Slaughterhouse, located in the Blitar Regency. The employed study methodology entails the utilization of the direct observation approach. The obtained data was subsequently analyzed using SPSS 22 software and afterwards subjected to statistical tests like the Pearson Bivariate Correlation Test and Multiple Linear Regression Test. The findings obtained from the bivariate Pearson correlation analysis indicated a statistically significant correlation between sex and carcass weight. However, no statistically significant correlation was seen between age and carcass weight. The regression analysis reveals that the variables of gender and age account for only 31.3% of the variation in carcass weight. The resulting regression equation is Y = 17.887 + 69.943X1 + 15.994X2. The research indicated a significant correlation between gender and carcass weight, while age does not exhibit a significant correlation with carcass weight. Therefore, further studies are warranted to explore the influence of factors besides age and gender on Simmental-PO beef carcass weight.

Abstract

The livestock species known as beef cattle produces meat as its main product. Limousin crossbreed cattle are one type of beef cattle that are cultivated in Indonesia. The Limousin Peranakan cattle are the descendants of the local Ongole Peranakan (PO) cattle with the original Limousin cattle. Livestock growth is influenced by various factors, including body weight, carcass age, breed and feed quality. The purpose of this study was to determine whether the carcass weight of Limousin-breed cattle at the Sukorejo District Slaughterhouse, Blitar City, correlated with age. The Sukorejo District Slaughterhouse in Blitar City served as the site of data gathering for this study for two weeks in June 2023. Field studies were used as the method in this study. 30 tails and carcasses of male and female limousines were raw materials in the study. In Microsoft Excel software, correlation analysis is performed using the data that has been collected. The average carcass weight for Limousin-breed cattle is 182.667, and the correlation value is -0.18. Age and carcass weight have a very weak, negative connection that is not considered to be significant. According to research conducted at the Blitar City Slaughterhouse, there is a very low negative correlation between age and carcass weight in Limousin Peranakan Cattle. This is because most of the feed is digested into fat, by older cattle resulting in a decrease in carcass weight. To maintain maximum livestock yields, environmental factors such as feed availability, housing conditions, temperature, livestock health must all be considered. Abstract

This experiment aims to evaluate the effectiveness of inoculation and synergy of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi (AMF) and Trichoderma harzianum on the growth, productivity, and effectiveness of inoculation of Alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) forage in marginal land in the early phase of the first regrowth. This experiment used biological agents, mycorrhizae, and Trichoderma. This study used a completely randomised design with a one-way pattern consisting of four treatments and five replications, namely T0: without inoculation; T1: Mycorrhizae 300 spores/polybag; T2: Trichoderma 5 grams, 1 × 106 spores/gram; T3: Combination of Mycorrhizae 300 spores/polybag and Trichoderma 5 grams, 1 × 106 spores/gram. Data were analysed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). The results showed that AMF inoculation in treatment T1 had a significant effect (p <0.05) on plant length (cm), number of branches (strands per branch), fresh biomass of the canopy and the effectiveness of inoculation. Treatments T2 and T3 were not significantly different from T0 (p>0.05) regarding plant length, but the number of branches differed. T2 and T3 showed significant differences (p<0.05), which were higher than the control, but not with the results of fresh shoot biomass and inoculation effectiveness. T2 gave insignificant results and was not better than treatments T1 and T3. Mycorrhizal inoculation T1 positively responded to plant growth, fresh shoot biomass and inoculation effectiveness under drought stress, although the combination treatment T3 also provided good feedback.
