Abstract

This study aimed to determine the Effect of roasting with different pans on the organoleptic quality of tungkal composite liberica coffee   brew (Libtukom)”. The expected outcome of this research was to increase the view of traditional coffee powder business actors about the use of a good roasting pan in the roasting process of coffee beans to produce good quality characteristics of coffee powder brewing and to add to the knowledge in the field of processing technology in plantation products. The research was carried out in  Basic Agricultural Laboratory, Batanghari University. A Completely Randomized Design was implemented in as environmental design that used in this study.  The treatment design were roasting with different types of pans, as follows: W1 = Iron skillet, W2 = Aluminum skillet, W3 = Earth skillet (pottery), W4 = Teflon skillet and W5 = Stainless Steel skillet. It was 3 timesrepeatation on each treatment. The results showed that the type of roasting pan had a significant effect on organoleptic quality included color, aroma, taste, bitterness of libtukom coffee powder brewing, but had no significant effect on the preference variables. The highest assessment of the preference variable was found in coffee powder that are roasted using aluminium skillet.

Abstract

This research is entitled: Response growth cuttings Sugarcane Chip Bud                ( Saccharum officinarum L. ) against gift Rootone -F with concentration different .Experiments and organoleptic tests in this study were carried out at the Faculty of Agriculture, UNBARI Jambi in the month of March – August 2022 .The research design used in this study was a completely randomized design (CRD) with one treatment factor, namely the concentration of Rootone-F with 4 levels as follows; r0 = without using Rootone – F ; r1 = 200 ppm Rotoone-F ; r2 = 400 ppm Rotoone-F ; r3 = 600 ppm Rotoone-F. research pen this using 3 replications , so get 12 units experimen, every unit test consist from 10 cuttings so that the total is 120 cuttings . on every unit test determined by random 5 plants as sample . Observed parameters : percentage life Sugarcane chip bud cuttings (%) , shoot length of sugar cane chip bud cuttings ( cm), diameter of buds from sugar cane chip bud cuttings (mm), number root ( strand ), weight  dry  root cane chip bud cuttings (g) . Result data study analyzed statistics use analysis variety . When on analysis variety state influence real, then next with further test DNMRT level 5%. From result study obtained that the concentration of Rootone -F had a significant effect on the percentage of survival of sugarcane chip bud cuttings , shoot length, shoot diameter, but not significantly different on the number of roots and root dry weight. Giving Rootone-F with a concentration of 400 ppm (treatment r2 ) can give the best percentage of sugarcane chip bud cuttings survival of 83.33%

Abstract

Ultisol soils have several constraints, both physical and chemical properties of the soil such as acid to very acidic soil reactions, low to very low organic C, low total N, macronutrients such as low P, K, Ca and Mg, high Al saturation which are toxic to plants, cation exchange capacity (CEC) and base saturation (BS) are low to very low so that they can cause stunted plant growth. This study aims to examine the effect of cow dung compost on Ultisol soil planting media on the growth of Betara betel nut in polybags. This research will be carried out on campus II of Batanghari University Jambi (Pijoan) and soil analysis will be carried out at the Laboratory of the Environmental Service of Jambi Province, this research was carried out for 3 months from April to June 2022. The design used in this study was a completely randomized design (CRD). ) by one factor. The treatment that was tried was cow dung compost (k) with 4 levels of dosage as follows: k0, k1, k2 and k3. Parameters observed included plant height, seedling diameter, plant dry weight, root dry weight and soil chemical properties. To determine the effect of the treatment being tested, the data were analyzed using analysis of variance, then if the analysis of variance showed a significant difference, it was continued with the DNMRT test at a level of 5%. The results showed that the application of cow dung compost had a significantly different effect on plant height, stem diameter, plant dry weight and root dry weight of Betara betel nut. The highest betel nut plant height was found in k3 treatment of 87.41cm and there was an increase in plant height of 54.95% when compared to k0. The highest stem diameter growth was obtained from k3 of 1.17 mm, an increase of 67.14% compared to k0 treatment. The highest plant crown dry weight was obtained in the k3 treatment of 96.72 g and there was an increase of 202.72% compared to k0. The highest root dry weight was obtained in the k3 treatment of 41.02 g and there was an increase of 144.60% compared to k0.

Abstract

             This research aims to determine the effect of applying cow manure, goat manure and chicken manure on the seedlings growth of robusta coffee (Coffea cenophora L) in ultisol soil in polybags. This research was carried out since January to April 2023 at Pijoan Gardens, Campus II, Batanghari University and Laboratory of Batanghari University. The design used in this research was a completely randomized design (CRD) with one treatment factor, i.e. various types of manure which consist  of 4 (four) treatment levels, namely: k0 : 3000 g of soil media without treatment (control), k1: 30 g cow manure + 3000 g ultisol soil, k2: 30 g goat manure + 3000 g ultisol soil, k3: 30 g chicken manure + 3000 g ultisol soil. Each treatment was repeated 3 (three) times. The parameters observed were soil water content, plant height, stem diameter, crown dry weight, root dry weight and root shoot ratio. The treatment of various types of manure had a significant effect on plant height, stem diameter, crown dry weight and root dry weight, but it had no significant effect on the root-shoot ratio of Robusta coffee seedlings.  When this is compared with the control one,  so the application of goat manure in treatment k2: 30 g of goat manure + 3000 g of ultisol soil gave the highest average results in several  parameters such as plant height (79.00 cm) increasing 29.16%, stem diameter (8.40 mm) increased 38.84%, crown dry weight (24.84 g) increased 149.39% and root dry weight (11.09 g) increased 114.92%, and root shoot ratio (2.32) increased 20.83%, There were changes in the chemical characteristics of the soil, including  the initial pH of 5.65 to 6.43-6.48 beside the highest soil water content was found in the k2 treatment at 11.99%.Key words: manure (cow, goat, chicken), growth, Liberica coffee, ultisol.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the intensity and percentage of P. palmivora stem canker disease and identify the types of disease that occur on cocoa plant stems (Theobroma cacao) as well as the influence of the intensity and incidence of stem canker on stem canker disease. production of cocoa beans (T. cacao). The method used in this research is the observation method, the procedure for determining the research location was carried out by means of purposive sampling. The results of the research showed that the sample plants that were attacked by stem cancer showed symptoms of attack such as brown, purplish red stems, no holes, wet skin texture and black spots like rot. The highest percentage of stem cancer attacks was on plantation 3 at 37.78% and the lowest percentage of stem cancer attacks was on plantation 1 at 11.11%. The highest intensity of stem cancer attacks was on plantation 3 at 17.33% and the lowest intensity of stem cancer attacks was on plantation 1 (maintained) with an attack percentage of 6.39%. The results of observations on cocoa plant stem samples found a type of disease belonging to the Phytophthora palmivora fungus group at research locations 1, 2 and 3.

Abstract

To support the successful development of oil palm nurseries, planting media fertility is needed. Ultisol planting media requires special treatment to improve the physical, chemical and biological properties of the soil. One of the activities to improve the fertility of ultisol soil is by applying organic fertilizer. The aim of the research was to determine the effect of TKKS Taspu compost fertilizer on the growth of oil palm seedlings and to determine the best dose of TKKS Taspu compost fertilizer for the growth of oil palm seedlings. The research was carried out from November 2023 to February 2024 at Telanai Pura and the Basic Laboratory of Batanghari University, Jambi. The environmental design used was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with one treatment : TKKS Taspu fertilizer (t) with four dose levels, t0 = 4 kg Ultisol/polybag (control), t1 = 600 g Taspu TKKS fertilizer + 3400 g Ultisol/polybag, t2 = 700 g Taspu TKKS fertilizer + 3300 g Ultisol/polybag, t3 = 800 g Taspu TKKS fertilizer + 3200 g Ultisol /polybag. The observation data was analyzed using Anova and the DNMRT test at a level of 5%. The parameters observed were ; plant height, stem diameter, shoot dry weight, root dry weight, seed quality index and water content of the planting medium. The results of the variance analysis showed that the application of Taspu TKKS compost fertilizer with t3 treatment (800 g Taspu TKKS fertilizer + 3200 g ultisol/polybag) was the right dose to support the growth of oil palm seedlings.

Abstract

AbstractThis research aims to get the best source of cuttings in the production of pepper seedlings. This research has been carried out in the Teluk Raya village of Kumpeh Ulu Subdistrict Muaro Jambi Regency. Research conducted for 3 months beginning in January to March 2015. Environmental complete random design was applied in the research.  The design of the treatment is the  different cuttings source, as follows: P1: a climbing vine cuttings, P2: fruit vine cuttings, P3:  hanging vine cuttings,  P4: ground vine cuttings. Each treatment was repeated four times. There are 10 pepper cuttings for each experiment unit, so that there are 160 uniform cuttings which needed in the research. It shold be taken 8 cuttings from the existing 10 cutting. The results of this research rejects the null hypothesis (H0) and receive alternative hypothesis (H1) that pepper seed growth was differ among the source of cuttings. The study also get that  climbing vine cuttings was have produce the best pepper germ and significantly differentl fruit vine cuttings, ground vine cuttings and hanging vine cuttings. The predicted superior of pepper cutting sourcing from climbing vine is the high carbohydrat and balance existing of endogen auxin and citokinin hormon, so that show balance of bud and root growth. Those growth both bud and root certaintly support the cutting growth. Keywords: plant reproduction, vegetative propagation, and hormones to grow AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan sumber stek yang terbaik dalam produksi bibit lada. Penelitian ini telah dilaksanakan di Desa Teluk Raya Kecamatan Kumpeh Ulu Kabupaten Muaro Jambi. Penelitian dilakukan selama 3 bulan dimulai pada bulan Januari sampai Maret 2015. Rancangan lingkungan yang digunakan penelitian ini adalah rancangan lingkungan acak lengkap. Rancangan perlakuan adalah sumber stek yang berbeda, sebagai berikut: P1 : Stek dari sumber sulur panjat, P2: Stek dari sumber sulur buah, P3: Stek dari sumber sulur gantung, P4: Stek dari sumber sulur tanah. Setiap perlakuan yang dicobakan diulang sebanyak 4 kali. Sedangkan setiap satu satuan percobaan terdiri 10 stek lada, berarti stek lada yang seragam yang dibutuhkan dalam percobaan ini berjumlah 160 setek. Dari 10 stek lada pada percobaan, dengan 8 sampel stek. Hasil penelitian ini menolak hipotesis nol (H0) dan menerima hipotesis 1 (H1) bahwa pertumbuhan bibit lada berbeda antar sumber stek. Penelitian ini juga mendapatkan bahwa stek sumber sulur panjat menghasilkan bibit lada terbaik dan berbeda nyata dibandingkan stek sumber sulur buah, sulur tanah dan sulur gantung. Dugaan yang mendukung kebaikan stek lada asal sulur panjat adalah kandungan karbohidrat yang tinggi dan adanya keseimbangan hormon endogen auksin dan sitokinin sehingga terjadi kesimbangan pertumbuhan tunas dan akar. Pertumbuhan tunas dan akar inilah yang memacu pertumbuhan stek lada. Kata Kunci : Perbanyakan tanaman, pembiakan vegetatif, dan hormon tumbuh

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of giving coffee husk compost on the growth of citronella (Cymbopogon nardus L.) plants. This research was conducted in Kuala Tungkal, Tungkal Ilir District, West Tanjung Jabung Regency, Jambi Province, from December 2020 to March 2021. Analysis of compost nutrients was carried out at the Laboratory of the Jambi Agricultural Technology Research Center and measurements of root wet weight, shoot dry weight and root dry weight were carried out at the Basic Laboratory of Batanghari University Jambi. This research was conducted using a randomized environmental design (CRD) and treatment design for coffee husk compost which consisted of 4 levels of treatment, namely k0 : 3 kg of soil media without treatment (control), k1 : 15 g of coffee husk compost + 2,985 g of soil media, k2 : 22.5 g coffee husk compost + 2.977.5 g soil media, and k3 : 30 g coffee husk compost + 2.970 g soil media. The results of the analysis showed that the application of coffee husk compost had a significant effect on the parameters of root wet weight, shoot dry weight and pH of the growing media but had no significant effect on the parameters of the number of tillers, number of leaves, root dry weight and root crown ratio

Abstract

That's the important thing in areca nut nurseries  is fertilization. The long term use of inorganic fertilizers can have a negative impact, the best solution to reduce the use of inorganic fertilizers is to use organic fertilizers . This study aims to determine the growth response of areca nut seedlings (Areca catechu L.) with the application of liquid organic fertilizer supermes on ultisol soil in polybags. This research was conducted from May 2024 to August 2024 at the BBI horticulture location. The design used in this study was a completely randomized design (CRD) with one factor, namely POC supermes, namely: s0 (control), s1 (2ml / l water), s2 (4ml / l water), s3 (6ml / l water), s4 (8ml / l water). Each treatment was repeated 3 times, so that there were 15 experimental units, each experimental unit consisted of 4 polybags, 3 polybags as sample plants. The parameters observed included plant height (cm), stem diameter (cm), dry weight of the crown (g), dry weight of the root (g), ratio of the root crown and seedling quality index. The results showed that the concentration of liquid organic fertilizer (POC) supermes 8 ml / l of water (s4) gave the best results, an increase in plant height of 10.20%, stem diameter 9.73%, dry weight of the crown 23.33%, dry weight of the root 57.76, ratio of the root crown 42.85% and seedling quality index 25.37% compared to the control.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect and interaction between coffee bean size and roasting time on the organoleptic quality of brewed Liberika coffee powder. This research was conducted in Betara District, West Tanjung Jabung Regency and Basic Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture, Batanghari University, conducted in November 2024 - January 2025. This study used a factorial complete randomized design, the first factor of liberica coffee bean size consisted of 3 levels, namely size S (k1), M (k2) and L (k3) while the second factor of roasting time consisted of 2 levels, namely roasting time of 25 minutes (w1) and roasting time of 30 minutes (w2), so that 6 treatment combinations were obtained, where each treatment was repeated 3 times, resulting in 18 experimental units. The study's variables included chemical characteristics, including acidity (pH), and organoleptic characteristics, such as colour, flavour, aroma, bitterness, and preference for brewed coffee powder. The findings demonstrated that the pH of coffee powder and the organoleptic qualities of colour, aroma, taste, bitterness, and liking of brewed coffee powder were not significantly impacted by coffee bean size or roasting time. The results of organoleptic testing of untrained panelists gave the best impression of liking to brewed coffee powder with coffee bean size L (k3) and roasting time of 30 minute.
