Abstract

Physics is part of the natural sciences which plays an essential role in life. Learning physics must be distinct from various learning environments to achieve the stated learning objectives. One of the things that play an essential role, in this case, is the learning media. One of the learning media that can be used is a game. Experts have validated this physics learning game with scientific literacy, but it has yet to be tested for practicality. This study aimed to determine the practicality of implementing physics learning games with scientific literacy for Padang City High School students. This type of research is descriptive, with a sample of students and teachers in six high schools in Padang City, which have been grouped into three levels high, medium, and low. The research instrument used a practical questionnaire with four answer choices. The data analysis used in this research is a descriptive analysis technique. The results showed that the convenience aspect obtained a practicality percentage of 76.76% according to students and 90.63% according to the teacher, the attractiveness aspect obtained a percentage of 79.10% according to students and 86.25% according to teachers, and the last aspect of efficiency obtained a percentage of 79. 43% according to students and 92.50% according to teachers. Overall, according to the students, this game is practical to use, with a percentage of 78.43%. According to the teacher, the game has a percentage of 90.63%, with a very practical category.

Abstract

Innovative learning can improve students' 21st century skills. However, previous research states that students' 21st century skills such as critical thinking, creativity, collaboration and communication are still low. The solution to this problem is to analyze learning using electronic teaching materials. The aim of this research is to analyze the magnitude of the influence of a number of similar studies on students' 21st century skills. The research method can be classified as meta-analysis. In this meta-analysis method, the effect size of each similar study is determined and hypotheses are tested from a number of similar studies. In this research, 20 similar articles from national and international journals were analyzed. From the results of the analysis it can be stated that science teaching materials have a positive effect on 21st century skills based on the type of teaching materials, level of education and 21st century skills. Therefore, the use of science teaching materials is effective in improving students' 21st century skills both in terms of various types of teaching materials, level of education, and subjects.

Abstract

This research aims to describe teachers’ needs for developing teaching materials. Concept understanding is important for students so that teaching materials are needed to improve students’ concept understanding. The type of research carried out is descriptive research with a quantitative and qualitative approaches. The data instruments are in the form of interview sheets and teacher needs analysis questionnaires. Questionnaires to find out the learning resources used by teachers, obstacles when learning physics, and learning resources needed by teachers to facilitate students. A total of nine physics teachers in high schools throughout the city of Padang were involved in this research. Based on the result data of analysis, it was found that 83% of teachers used printed teaching materials in learning. As many as 36% of teachers use teaching materials that they make themselves. As many as 86% of teachers have never used digital teaching materials, teachers are not sufficient as learning resources. As many as 83% supported the development of teaching materials on physics to improve students' understanding of concepts. It is hoped that the results of this research will become the basis for developing digital modules based on the POE model to improve understanding of concepts in kinematics.

Abstract

Twenty-first century learning requires students to have student’ learning and innovation skills. However, in fact, students' learning and innovation skills are still low. The solution to this problem is the development of ethno-STEM integrated digital teaching material of heat concept to promote students' learning and innovation skills. The aims of this study were to determine the needs analysis, validity, and practicality of the use of ethno-STEM integrated digital teaching materials. The type of research is research and development (R&D) using the Hannafin and Peck model. The research instruments used include needs analysis, validity, and practicality instruments. Data analysis techniques using descriptive statistical analysis. Based on the data analysis, there were three research results. First, the needs analysis showed that students' critical and creative thinking skills were categorized as less with values of 54.36 and 52.92, respectively. Second, the product validity test obtained a value of 91.44 in the excellent category. Third, the product practicality test obtained a value of 82.29 in the excellent category. These results indicate that students' learning and innovation skills can be improved through digital teaching materials. Therefore, the ethno-STEM integrated digital teaching materials are valid and practical for use in learning.

Abstract

Information and communication technology (ICT) in the 21st century is experiencing rapid development in the field of education. Education in the 21st century requires students to master 21st century skills and themes. One of the themes that students must master is environmental literacy. Based on the initial study conducted, students' environmental literacy is still low. One of the solutions provided to support the improvement of environmental literacy is the development of global warming e-module integrated with problem based learning model and ethnoscience to promote students' environmental literacy. The purpose of the study was to investigate the validity and practicality of the e-module. Product development refers to the Hannafin and Peck research and development model. The technique used in data analysis is descriptive statistics. Based on data analysis, two research results were obtained. First, the validity test results were 91.8 with a very good category. Second, the results of practicality according to teachers and students are 95.7 and 85.2 in the excellent category. The results concluded that the global warming e-module integrated with PBL model and ethnoscience to promote students' environmental literacy is valid and practical and can be used in supporting the physics learning process.
