Abstract

Obesity triggers the risk of degenerative diseases. An unhealthy diet and insufficient physical activity have been contributing to the rapid increase in obesity prevalence. This study aims at determining the differences in the risk of degenerative diseases based on energy consumption and exercise habits of City Disaster Management Board/DMB members, especially in Denpasar City. This research is an observational study, targeting all members of Denpasar DMB as a population. Samples were taken purposively with a total of 126 people. The risk difference was tested using chi-square, and the estimated risk of degenerative diseases was analyzed using the Mantel-Haentzel odds ratio. The risk of degenerative diseases based on energy consumption shows a significant risk only in the group of people who did not have exercise habits (Q-suare=4.53; p=0.03), with an estimated risk that is also significant (OR=2.48; 95% CI= 1.07 - 5.74). The estimated risk results indicated that exercise habit is a potential confounding variable in the risk of degenerative diseases based on energy consumption. Lowering energy consumption is not effective enough to prevent the increase of degenerative disease risk, and prevention of new risks of degenerative diseases must include regular exercise.

Abstract

One message of balanced nutrition is to increase consumption of vegetables and fruit. Low consumption of vegetables and fruit can cause nutritional problems in school children. The reason is that children's eating behavior is unstable and there are many instant foods that contain little vegetables and fruit. Another cause is the lack of knowledge about consumption of vegetables and fruit. One way to achieve this is through counseling. Media is needed to achieve success, the available media include video media and power point. The purpose of this study was to determine the differences in knowledge and attitudes of students at Elementary School of 12 Kesiman and Elementary School of 7 Kesiman about vegetables and fruit using video and media.power point. This type of research is a quasi-experimental with a plan The Matching Only Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design and using only the two-group average independent which totaled 72 people. Data was collected by filling out a questionnaire. Data is presented in frequency and cross tables. Test results Mann-Whitney showed that there was a significant difference in knowledge data between students of Elementary School of 12 Kesiman and Elementary School of 7 Kesiman (p-value = 0.005). The same attitude test was carried out, which resulted in a significant difference in attitude between students of Elementary School of 12 Kesiman and Elementary School of 7 Kesiman (p-value = 0.013). Suggestions that can be done is to consider the use of video and media media power point as one of the student learning methods.

Abstract

Anemia is a condition in which there is a total shortage of red blood cells or hemoglobin levels less than normal or decreased levels of red blood cells/hemoglobin in the blood so that the body's physiological needs are not fulfilled (Nabilla dkk., 2022). This study aims to determine the consumption of iron inhibitors and enhancers in relation to anemia status in female students of SMAN 6 Denpasar Selatan. The type of research used was observational with a cross sectional design. The research sample was 62 class XI students at SMAN 6 South Denpasar. Data collection was carried out by taking hemoglobin levels in female female students and interviews using the SQ FFQ questionnaire on the consumption of iron inhibitors and enhancers. The data collected included data on anemia status, consumption of inhibitors and consumption of iron enhancers in female adolescents. To determine the relationship between anemia status and consumption of iron inhibitors and enhancers. Pearson's correlation analysis was carried out. Anemia categories are divided into 2, namely not anemia (≥12 g/dL) and anemia (12 g/dL). Based on the research, out of 62 samples, there were 48 female students who were not anemic and 14 female students who were anemic.  The lowest hemoglobin level was 9.1 g/dL, the highest was 17.8 g/dL, the average was 15 g/dL. Consumption of tea (96.7%) and spinach (100.0%), and consumption of oranges (100.0%) and chicken meat (100.0%) in the last 1 month. The results showed that there was a relationship between consumption of iron inhibitors and anemia status in young women (p-value = 0.034). For the analysis test results of consumption of iron enhancers with anemia status in young women showed a relationship (p-value = 0.000).

Abstract

Anemia is a health problem throughout the world, especially in developing countries, where an estimated 30% of the world's population suffers from anemia. Anemia in adolescent girls is still quite high. Anemia is a nutritional problem that often occurs in teenagers, especially young women. Anemia is a continuation of the impact of deficiencies in macronutrients (carbohydrates, proteins, fats) and micronutrients (vitamins, minerals). In adolescent girls, the need for iron increases because they experience regular menstruation which releases a certain amount of iron every month. This increase in the need for total blood volume is often not accompanied by adequate iron consumption, especially when teenage girls tend to want to have a slimmer body, so they often make various efforts, including going on a strict diet.Based on data from the 2022 Indonesian Nutrition Status Survey (SSGI), the prevalence of stunting among children under five in Tabanan Regency is still above the prevalence of stunting in Bali Province (8.0%) while in Tabanan Regency it is 8.2%. Research on female vocational school students in Tabanan Regency found that 54.2% had low levels of energy consumption, 32.5% had low levels of protein consumption, 88.0% had very low levels of iron consumption, 96.4% had very low levels of folic acid consumption. less and 78.3% have a very low level of vitamin B12 consumption and the level of knowledge about Anemia and CED, most of the Young Women have little knowledge about Anemia and CED, namely 84% less, 14% enough and 2% good. This lack of knowledge will affect the attitude of young women towards anemia and CED so that when they are pregnant they tend to experience anemia and CED and will give birth to stunted babies. The nutrition education that has been carried out is not enough to increase knowledge and especially attitudes of teenagers towards the risk factors for stunting, therefore the service will carry out training in preparing anti-anemia food menus for young women and Posyandu cadres in Tunjuk Village, Tabanan District. The priority solution is to improve the skills of young women and posyandu cadres to create anti-anemia food menus to prevent stunting by providing training. The method used to achieve this community service objective was to carry out training for 2 days for 50 young women and Posyandu cadres. This community service activity was carried out in Tunjuk Village, Tabanan District, Tabanan Regency in July 2023.
