Abstract

The low quality of integrated science and social studies (IPAS) learning in elementary schools is a major challenge in the implementation of Kurikulum Merdeka. This study aims to analyze the effect of the Duta 8 Paru Program on the quality of IPAS learning, both directly and through teacher pedagogical competence as a mediating variable. This study employed a quantitative approach with an explanatory survey design. The population consisted of 46 teachers who implemented the program, and the entire population was selected as the sample using a saturated sampling technique. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis was performed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) based on Partial Least Squares (PLS) with the help of SmartPLS 4 software. The results showed that the Duta 8 Paru Program had a significant direct effect on the quality of IPAS learning (β=0.422; p<0.05). Furthermore, teacher pedagogical competence acted as a significant partial mediator in this relationship (indirect effect=0.258; p<0.05). The structural model of the study had strong predictive ability, with an R² value of 0.611 for the quality of IPAS learning and a large predictive relevance (Q²=0.427). These findings conclude that the effectiveness of the Duta 8 Paru Program in improving the quality of IPAS learning will be very strong if accompanied by an increase in teacher pedagogical competence.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the creativity of social studies (IPS) teachers in implementing students’ social attitudes through integrated social studies learning at MTSN 1 Malang and to identify the forms of social attitudes developed during the learning process. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. The research subjects consisted of social studies teachers, guidance and counseling teachers, vice principals, and ninth-grade students selected purposively based on their relevance to the research focus. Data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. The validity of the data was ensured through triangulation, prolonged observation, and member checking, while data analysis used the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings revealed that teachers’ creativity played a significant role in fostering students’ social attitudes through contextual, participatory, and experience-based learning strategies. Teachers implemented various innovative learning methods, such as group discussions, social simulations, role-playing, environmental observation, project-based learning, and the use of audio-visual media. These strategies encouraged students to actively participate in the learning process and internalize social values in everyday life. The study also found that integrated social studies learning contributed to the development of positive social attitudes, including cooperation, tolerance, responsibility, social awareness, discipline, respect, and confidence in expressing opinions. Therefore, integrated social studies learning not only functions as a medium for knowledge transfer but also as an effective means of developing students’ social character and awareness.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop and examine the effectiveness of Modusa (Monopoli Budaya Nusantara) as a game-based learning medium to improve students’ motivation and learning outcomes in Social Studies learning on the topic of Indonesian cultural diversity in elementary school. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model, consisting of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The research subjects were 58 students of SD Negeri Pilang 3 Probolinggo. Data were collected through expert validation sheets, teacher and student response questionnaires, motivation questionnaires, and pre-test and post-test instruments. The findings revealed that Modusa achieved a very high level of validity based on expert evaluations, with an average score of 94.06%, indicating that the developed media was highly feasible for use in Social Studies learning. Teacher and student responses also demonstrated that the media was highly practical and effective, with percentages of 96.5% and 96.12%, respectively. Furthermore, the implementation of Modusa significantly improved students’ learning motivation, which reached 94.53% in the very high category. Students’ learning outcomes also increased, as shown by the improvement in average scores from 65.86 in the pre-test to 88.27 in the post-test, while classical learning mastery increased from 46.55% to 84.48%. The study indicates that integrating educational games with Indonesian cultural content through a Game-Based Learning approach can create a more interactive, contextual, and meaningful learning experience for elementary school students.
