Abstract

One of the most significant changes in education over the past few decades has been the movement towards inclusive education. Many schools are encouraged to implement an inclusive approach in accepting and educating students with disabilities. One of the disabilities students encounter in the regular class is learning disability (LD). This study uses a case study approach to examine the perspectives of students with LD, parents of students, and classroom teachers in regular schools that held inclusive education. A number of similarities and differences in perspective between students, parents, and teachers in each case were identified. Similarities and differences in perspective were also found between each case. Some practical implications will emerge from this study.

Abstract

Parental acceptance of children with special needs is a crucial component in the success of inclusive early childhood education. This study aims to explore the factors influencing the acceptance process using Bronfenbrenner’s ecological systems theory. A qualitative case study approach was employed, involving three mothers of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) enrolled in an inclusive playgroup at Nurul Jannah, Bandung. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation, then analyzed using inductive thematic analysis following Braun and Clarke's procedures. The findings reveal that family pressure, marital conflict, and emotional fatigue hinder the acceptance process. In contrast, strong support from the nuclear family fosters faster acceptance and proactive involvement in therapy and education. Interactions within the family microsystem appear to be the most influential factor in shaping parental responses. These results suggest that parental acceptance is not merely a personal matter but a product of complex social dynamics within ecological systems. Therefore, intervention strategies must be systemic, involving both family and broader social environments. The study recommends future research to examine the roles of mesosystem and macrosystem actors, and to apply longitudinal approaches to observe changes in parental acceptance over time.

Abstract

Play is widely recognized as an effective method for enhancing social skills in autistic children. However, play involves developmental stages that necessitate alignment with the child's specific play abilities. Consequently, there is a need for a play-based intervention model that can be utilized by parents and early childhood education teachers to improve social skills in autistic children within Early Childhood Education (PAUD) settings. This study aimed to develop an effective play-based model for enhancing social skills in autistic children by maximizing the roles of both parents and teachers. This research employed a mixed-methods approach using an Exploratory Sequential Design. Research data were obtained from two playgroup (Kober) teachers, three mothers of autistic children attending these playgroups, and three autistic children who served as the primary intervention subjects. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation. Qualitative data were analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Meanwhile, quantitative data were analyzed using the Single Subject Research (SSR) method, focusing on within-condition and between-condition analyses, as well as calculating the average skill improvement of the subjects. The research findings indicate that: (1) The social skills of autistic children were notably low, particularly in eye contact ability and imitation behavior, which are fundamental social skills for autistic children. (2) The play patterns implemented by teachers and parents thus far tended not to consider the child's developmental stage and play abilities. (3) The model's development was based on empirical studies (needs analysis) and a comprehensive literature review that informed the concept and implementation process of the foundational play-based intervention model for parent-teacher collaboration. (4) Based on the evaluation, the foundational play-based intervention model involving parent-teacher collaboration was found to be effective in enhancing the social skills of autistic children, specifically in their eye contact ability and imitation behavior.

Abstract

Emotion management is a crucial aspect of adolescent development, often characterized by significant physical, social, and emotional changes. This study aims to enhance the understanding of emotion management among 10th and 11th-grade students at SMK Al-Hikmah Tarogong Garut. The research employs a qualitative method, utilizing data collection through observations and interviews. The findings indicate that many students are unaware of the complexities of their emotions, tending to associate emotions solely with feelings of anger or sadness. Through socialization efforts that include definitions, types, and techniques for managing emotions, students began to recognize and understand various forms of emotions. After the socialization, there was a significant improvement in students' ability to identify emotions and respond positively. This research underscores the importance of emotion management for adolescents in enhancing mental well-being, fostering healthy social relationships, and reducing the risk of mental health issues such as anxiety and depression during adolescence.

Abstract

The phenomenon of military barracks education, initiated by West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi in May 2025, has sparked controversy. This is primarily due to its involvement in coaching students with deviant behavior, including gadget use. Public discourse has emerged regarding the effectiveness of this military barracks education model as a response to a perceived discipline crisis, which emphasizes children's obedience to parents through a rigid system. This study aims to investigate whether the military barracks education approach aligns with the principles of Islamic Mindful Parenting. Islamic Mindful Parenting is a synthesis of Islamic parenting principles with mindfulness, designed to foster internal self-control in children. The research employs a quantitative approach with descriptive methods for data collection and analysis. Data was gathered through questionnaires completed by parents. The results indicate that most parents favored the educational content of military barracks and were interested in this approach. However, the explanations provided by parents contradicted the principles of Islamic Mindful Parenting. The rigid military approach can cause stress and insecurity in children, and hinder communication and the development of critical thinking. This contrasts with Islamic Mindful Parenting, which emphasizes empathy, compassion, and the development of character from within, by focusing on attentive listening, non-judgmental acceptance of self and child, awareness of one's own and the child's emotions, self-regulation in the parenting relationship, and a compassionate attitude towards oneself and the child.

Abstract

This study aims to explore Islamic parenting practices in strengthening the prosocial character of early childhood children at RA Tarbiyatun Najah, located in Citapen Village. The background of this study focuses on the significance of Islamic parenting in shaping prosocial character, which is considered an important foundation for children's social and emotional development. The method used in this study is a qualitative approach with a case study design, involving observations and interviews with teachers and parents. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of Islamic parenting in the school environment, through various methods such as role models, habituating prayer, teaching the value of monotheism, and giving praise for good behavior, has proven effective in shaping children's prosocial behavior. The prosocial behavior in question includes actions of sharing, helping, cooperation, and empathy. However, on the other hand, Islamic parenting practices in the family context are still limited to aspects of religious rituals. There are shortcomings in the habituation of morals and direct role models due to limited time and parental knowledge. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of closer collaboration between schools and families. Furthermore, this study also demonstrates the need for mentoring programs for parents to optimally strengthen children's prosocial character. With consistent Islamic parenting, it is hoped that children's prosocial character will develop well, enabling them to grow into individuals with a strong sense of social awareness and the ability to interact effectively within society. This research provides valuable insights for developing more effective parenting styles in the context of early childhood education and encourages increased parental awareness of the importance of their role in educating their children.

Abstract

The emergence of the online community “Fantasi Sedarah” reflects a severe form of family dysfunction, where moral values and core family functions have failed. This study aims to examine the relationship between family dysfunction and sexual deviance within this community by applying Bronfenbrenner’s ecological systems theory and the Islamic concept of family function by Khurshid Ahmad. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study design and digital ethnography (netnography). Data were collected through observation of the online community, and news documentation. The findings reveal that the community’s existence is not only rooted in micro-level failures such as within the family but is also reinforced by exosystems like social media and a macrosystem that is permissive toward deviant content. The discussions within the group normalize deviant behaviors, indicating the collapse of the family’s moral and emotional protection roles. This study concludes that the “Fantasi Sedarah” phenomenon is a multidimensional crisis requiring collaborative responses from families, education systems, legal authorities, and digital platforms.
