Abstract

Teacher Professional Development (TPD) is one of the teacher strategies to enhance the teachers’ professionalism. In addition to the values gained through them, enrolling in TPD activities represents the commitment of individuals to raising their awareness of their work, looking deeper into it, and identifying opportunities and possibilities to improve it. CAR is one of many strategies for TPD, but one of the most demanding and, at the same time, one of the most powerful. It is demanding because teachers go through different procedures. This requires knowledge and skills in research. This research is aimed to reveal the teachers perspectives towards the implementation of Classroom Action Research. The subjects of the research are 10 teachers in South Kalimantan, Indonesia and are given the open-ended questionnaires of Classroom Action Research implementation in the classroom. The findings of the research show that Classroom Action Research is believed to improve on the teaching and learning process as it can identify the problems that occurred in the classroom. Most of the teachers are aware of the importance of conducting the classroom action research, and it is one of a way to develop their professional development. Then, it is suggested for English teachers to undergo Classroom Action Research in their classroom to ensure the professional development process.

Abstract

Although smartphones were not prohibited in the campus environment in Era 4.0, smartphones were still limited in their use as a means of communication and connection. Supposedly, the use of this smartphone must of course be observed wisely and maximized by various related parties, for example by making it a medium for learning. The challenge faced in maximizing the use of smartphones for learning is the limitations in processing and or managing existing material. With the various backgrounds and reasons outlined above, the study tries to develop Flipped Materials for English Courses at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Lambung Mangkurat University. This research uses research and development type for Flipped Material on Wetlands in digital form which is developed and tested for its feasibility in a limited scope. For this research, the study took samples with consideration of feasibility in reaching the subjects. Sampling is done by using the Cluster Random Technique because the characteristics of the population used as the research subject are considered to be the same, namely students of ULM semester I.Although smartphones were not prohibited in the campus environment in Era 4.0, smartphones were still limited in their use as a means of communication and connection. Abstract

Wetlands: 3D Mapstory Application to Improve Students’ Learning Outcomes: Effective or Ineffective?. Objectives: The development of learning media in the era of Education 4.0 can be measured by technological innovation. However, limited time and funds have hindered lecturers and students from various higher education institutions in Indonesia from experiencing direct field practice, especially in the wetlands in South Kalimantan, hailed as one of Indonesia's natural laboratories for wetlands. The development of the Wetlands: 3D Mapstory answers students' conditions to become more familiar with the wetland environment without coming directly to South Kalimantan. The aim is to effectively use the Wetlands: 3D Mapstory to concretize the abstract concept of wetlands to improve students’ learning outcomes. Methods: The research development using the Luther model is limited to the testing stage. It is designed using 3D maps from satellite imagery using ArcGIS and combined with photos and learning materials on wetlands. The validation uses expert judgment on material and media aspects. Effectiveness test using paired sample t-test to analyze effective or ineffective Wetlands: 3D Mapstory Application to improve learning outcomes. Findings: The results show that the Wetlands: 3D Mapstory was developed as an Android-based application. This application was declared feasible and effective for improving student learning outcomes related to developing wetland areas in the Geography Education Study Program at Lambung Mangkurat University. So, the development of Wetlands: 3D Mapstory can fill the gap in learning media geography to improve the quality of lectures. Conclusion: Wetlands: 3D Mapstory Applications are feasible and practical for exploring wetlands in South Kalimantan and enhancing students’ learning outcomes. The implications of the results of this research strengthen and increase the variety of learning media to support learning activities and outcomes in universities. Keywords: wetlands, learning outcomes, 3d mapstory, application, effective.

Abstract

Atoms are considered entities that independently originate from human thought and perception based on a materialist perspective. In terms of the scientific model concept, Steinbuch (1977) created a scheme to indicate the epistemological process in science called “thinking in model terms.” This scheme is the basis for understanding matter as reality. The purpose of the study is to explain the philosophical review of the study of the concept of particles as matter. This review can make students and teachers aware of the importance of a thinking model for understanding science. The implementation of the study used “reviewing the literature” with theoretical interventions from various literatures through five stages, namely identifying vital terms, locating literature, critically evaluating and selecting the literature for your review, organizing the literature, and writing a literature review. The study results show that a philosophical review of the understanding of particles as matter that is real is an essential component of holistically understanding science. Understanding based on Steinbuch's scheme, “thinking in model terms,” significantly impacts civilization, including chemistry education. The scheme's application also trains participants' representational abilities, especially at the particulate level, so that the chemistry knowledge obtained is meaningful to participants.

Abstract

Modern technological developments substantially impact many essential areas, including teaching English as a second language. Science and commercial advancements depend on the ability of specialists around the world to communicate using English. This motivates instructors to switch from teaching English in general to teaching English for Specific Purposes (ESP), which focuses on assisting students in achieving language proficiency. In Banjarmasin, Indonesia, vocational high schools provide English for Business as a division of ESP. Since no monograph book gives learning models for teachers on how to teach English in a way that is acceptable and engaging to students, challenges develop while teaching English in vocational schools, especially for students majoring in business. This research aims to produce a monograph on teaching models of English for Business due to the significance of meeting teaching and learning aims and the lack of suitable references for teaching English to business students in vocational high schools, especially in wetland areas. This study employs a research and development approach since it wants to create a product while considering requirements analysis. It is believed that the findings of this study would help teachers deliver effective and worthwhile instruction in wetland areas while also raising students' academic achievement.
