Abstract

Melon cultivation is usually cultivated in the highlands, but the development of melon cultivation in the lowlands has the potential to be developed. The problem is that ultisol with low fertility dominates the soil in the lowlands. Cultivating melons in polybags makes it possible to provide ideal nutrients for plant needs. The right frequency of fertilization can provide appropriate nutrients for each phase of plant growth. The study aimed to determine the best dose and frequency of potassium fertilizer application and the interaction between the two on the growth and yield of melon plants and the sweet taste of melons. The study used a randomized block design (RBD). Factor I: Potassium dose (D) 4 levels: control: 0 g per plant, D1: 30, D2: 40, D3: 50. The second factor is the frequency of application of Potassium (F) consisting of 3 levels, namely: F1: 4 times, F2: 6, and F3: 8. The results of the study showed that the frequency of application of potassium fertilizer had a significant effect on the flowering age of melon plants. A potassium fertilizer dose of 50 g per plant (D3) gave the best fruit weight and diameter and a higher sweetness than other treatments. Keywords: Lowland, Fertilization frequency, Polybag cultivation, Potassium dosage.

Abstract

The aim of the study was to determine the effect of the interaction between varieties with doses of bokashi EOPB on the growth and yield of cauliflower (Brassica Oleracea L). To determine the optimal dose of bokashi EOPB and to determine the varieties that are responsive in the lowlands. This research was carried out from February 2020 to April 2020, in Kungkai Baru village, Air Periukan sub-district, Seluma district, Bengkulu province, with an altitude of 100 meters above sea level. This study used a factorial completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 2 factors, namely variety (V) and bokashi empty oil palm bunch (EOPB) dose (P) with 4 replications, a total of 72 experimental units. P1= EOPB bokhasi fertilizer 0 ton/ha. P2 = EOPB bokashi fertilizer 15 tons/ha, P3 = EOPB bokashi fertilizer 20 tons/ha. The variety factors was V1 = PM 126 variety and V2 = Ilona variety. The results of the study concluded that the interaction treatment between cauliflower varieties and the dose of bokhasi EOPB fertilizer gave a very significant effect on the variables of plant height at the observational ages of 5, 6, and 7 WAP and fresh fruit weight had a significant effect at harvest. The dose of bokashi fertilizer gave a very significant effect on the number of leaves and fruit diameter at the age of 7 WAP observations alone. The PM 126 variety is more responsive to cultivation in the lowlands by using a dose of 15 ton/ha of EOPB bokashi fertilizer.

Abstract

Abstract

The research aims to obtain the best type of decomposer and the composition of materials and the time needed to achieve mature fermentation in making compost.  Oil palm plants grow well on podzolic soil, but high levels of fertilization are needed to overcome the poor nutrients in this type of soil.  The return of organic fertilizer from palm fruit frounds waste after it has been treated with added nutrients from broiler chicken waste and then fermented with MOL is expected to be able to meet the nutrient needs of oil palm plants. The research was carried out in the Babatan sub-district, Sukaraja district, Seluma regency from December 2023 to February 2024. The research consisted of 2 factors, namely the type of decomposer and the composition of the dough material. The non-control treatment was the application of anorganic fertilizer given to all treatment combinations The control treatment was the combination of treatments without the application of anorganic fertilizer.  The research observed the physical properties of compost fertilizer which included the number of fungi, color, aroma, temperature, humidity.  The results of the research concluded that the control fermentation treatment took place more quickly, namely the dough matured within 8 days after fermentation, while the non-control treatment matured up to 42 days.   EM-4 factory treatments produced more fungi than mol from maja fruit and golden snails. In the non-control treatment, the composition of the mixture was 1:1, showing a greater number of fungi, The color of the compost is yellowish brown with a darker color, while in the control treatment the best composition is 1:2 with a lighter color.
